EDIT: To everyone telling me there's no third game READ THE ENTIRE THREAD FIRST! I'm obsessed with my Norse ancestry and can not wait for this game. Hopefully they'll have at least more references to Surtr and the fire giants and if we end up fighting Thor then that will be BRUTAL. Also I'm pretty sure Thor was mocking Kratos and it's kinda funny that Thor, the Asgardian known for his rage, is talking about someone's temper. As for items and weapons maybe Surtr's sword and maybe at the end we get Mjolnir to fight Odin in the third game.

My guess is that after rescuing Tyr, they go to vanaheim and convince one of the Vanir Gods there to use temporal Magic, causing the Wolves to eat the sun and moon, which is how they'll recruit Surtr, since he and Atreus/Loki have technically already met, but Surtr sorta vowed not to do anything but train until Ragnarok begins.

Also, in the aftershow during the playstation presentation on Thursday, they did comfirm that Ragnarok would be wrapping up the Norse era of God of War. Characters might still carry over, but the overall setting will be changing probably.

Also it should be mentioned that the only way anyone cant travel into asgard by the end of the last game was either with Odin's aid or by dying and going to Valhalla, which adds to the Jotunheim mural depicting Kratos' death

I really doubt that, this seems like marketing misdirection to trown fan theories away from the actual plot. They have so so much grownd to cover in this game from things they set-up in the previous one. Atreus origin as Loki (which includes he relationships with the aesir, especially Odin which right now is pretty null) and the prophecy. His role in Ragnarok (leading the giants to storm the gates of Asgard). He birthing his children, one that is alive and it's said to battle Thor at the end of Ragnarok and sent back in time (which probably means we don't get to kill Thor just yet). Freya revenge arc. Thor revenge arc. Resolution of the dark/light elfs conflict. Kratos death and the birth of the world serpent seen in the previous game mural. And this are just the ones I remember on the top of my head. They could possibly do it in just one game? Yeah, but the game would have to be 80 hours long to it not few rushed. All that with the fact that the trailer setup the history of this game as "trying to prevent Ragnarok" tells me this is just a setup for the end of the world like God of War 2. It will possibly end like God of War 2, Atreus goes back in time to take the giants before they are dead to storm the gates of Asgard to free Kratos from Odin power in Valhalla. The next game is the actual war of Ragnarok.

Yeah I've a feeling a lot of the tension in this game between Kratos and Atreus will be because Atreus feels betrayed by Kratos keeping so much stuff from him still. And not even just his past, but the potential future he saw of Atreus holding what looked like Tyr dead in his arms (it's isn't Kratos because in the Magni Modi fight mural we can see Kratos' tattoos even when his right side is facing us and his kilt thing is the same in all the murals just like Atreus despite time passing so the murals kept the same clothes so the dying man isn't Kratos and is missing a hand so he must be Tyr) from Atreus. We saw how much that affected Atreus is the last game, so finding out his father knew more about his destiny than he was letting onto, as well as not telling Atreus things he deserves to know in order to understand his father's actions rather than just being expected to accept it, is gonna drive a huge wedge between them. I wouldn't be surprised if Atreus leaves Kratos for a bit to find things out by himself, with Kratos and Thor respectively hunting him down to protect/kidnap him, while Atreus learns who Loki is from Angrboda and manages to awaken the Giants to prepare for Ragnarok.

There's weird, quasi-explicit time-travel shenanigans going around in the first game, and some of the murals absolutely depict events that haven't happened yet. They're pretty unreliable in terms of the timeline, so even if one of them does show Tyr's hand getting bitten off, it may not have happened yet. Hell, with Kratos throwing a Prophetical monkey wrench in the works, it might not happen at all if it hasn't already.

I'm still calling it, Freya will desperately seek another child because of her loss of Baldur. She'll manipulate Atreus and take him. Atreus will go with Freya because he is tired of Kratos keeping him in the woods. Freya will teach Atreus and Atreus will become a badass God/Warlock. My reason behind this is because The only way I see him becoming Loki is if he masters shapeshifting and old magic like Odin and Freya. The only way that I see him learning this is through the hands of Freya. About time Kratos gets Atreus back, Atreus will eventually become insanely powerful, surpassing Freya. We probably won't see Atreus full godlyhood in THIS game, but Atreus will likely be the main cause of how they'll defeat Odin. Kratos may be stronger than Odin when it comes to strength but when it comes to the brain power, Odin outsmart Kratos in soo many other ways which is why Kratos LIKELY wont be able to defeat Odin alone. In this game of god OR war 6, it'll be Kratos strength and Atreus brainpower that will lead to the defeat of Odin

this will sound crazy but I don't want kratos to kill odin but I want him to fuck him off so bad he will be able to taste kratos spartan sole for the rest of his short life. kinda like what he did with zeus, he just punches him into unconsciousness and then odin is saved by some of his aesir brothers or someshit and have kratos get cheap shot so that he becomes surtr after dying. imagine him training on the other side with the blade of chaos, until the day of ragnarok begins.

If something happens to Atreus, Kratos will go back to his old ways and destroy the Norse lands just like how he did the Greek. Kratos is practically scared of himself, not the Gods. Basically we've never seen Kratos full potential in the new God of war because he knows what he can do

So some things to help inform you. Mainly for fun not trying to be a know it all or whatever. 😄😄 But the girl at the end is GoW's version of Angrboda. And while it was belived to be a trilogy they confirmed this game will be the end of the Norse based games, however they did make a comment that this is far from the final GoW game so they will likely go to a new mythology in the end of this. And as for my own thoughts I actually have some theories about why we see creatures that may not exactly fit Norse Mythology. Sense it is Ragnarok and the Norse world is falling apart what if this means that the barriers between the different Mythologies that exists in GoW is breaking because of Ragnarok so creatures from other Mythologies are coming in. Other throughts I had was that I thing the reason Tyre is revealed in the trailer is because he's not the big reveal of the game. If I had to guess and sense they confirmed that all nine realms will be available to explore in this game I feel like the bigger reveals will be Odin himself and Fenrir. Last thought I had is some debate on which Mythology will be next to explore, but I have a strong feeling it will be Egyptian Mythology. While yes there are hints of Aztec Mythology in the trailer, Aztec Mythology I don't think was one of the Mythologies that in game was confirmed to be one of the Mythologies that Tyre had connections to. Norse, Greek, Celtic, Egyptian and Japanese Mythology all where confirmed to be Mythologies he had connections to so I feel it has to be one of these Mythologies that continues the franchise and funny enough Tyre has Egyptian Hieroglyphs on his arms. So my guess is Egyptian Mythology will be next and if they keep going then we will see Celtic and Japanese Mythology next

My theory on the deer centaur is that it's Artemis coming from Greece for revenge because supposedly she's one of the last Olympians that survived Kratos's Olympicide. I’ve been thinking about the title and I think that the third game is gonna be us going back in time. Paying attention to the in-game lore, a bunch of myths that are supposed to include Loki are obviously without him. It’s likely that we’ll be going back in time and changing the past, allowing for Norse mythology to go as it does in the actual mythology.

#TheMythologyGuy The Girl in the ending of the trailer is Angrboða. That guy imprisoned is Týr and his height is comnfirmed to be 8’5. We can go all Nine Realms and New areas in the Realms. Is confirmed and main antagonists are Thor and Freya/Frigg. Odin is There in the game and actor voice is Richard Schiff. When shows Brokkr, Sindri and New dwarf is Durlin are in fact in Niðavellir/Svartalfheim. That centaur is called the Stalker with Runes. And Dragond are called Dreki like little dragons.

Okay I saw your short about Ares kids Deimos and Phobes a while back. You said it’d be neat if they had a story with them in it or something along those lines. Funnily enough this correlates to an older GOW game. GOW ghost of Sparta. A game made for the PSP then remastered for the PS3. In that game you have to save your long lost brother who was captured by Ares as a kid. You’re brother was held by Thanatos for the fear of a Marked warrior who would destroy Olympus. The tattoo Kratos has on his body is actually a homage to his brothers tattoo. His brothers name was Deimos. Both him and Kratos sons of Zeus. So maybe they just used the name but I think it’s neat that they do have a lesser know god at least referenced. Anyways if you read this thanks for reading my essay. Also your videos are funny. I mean the Nidavellir dynamic really depends on how the creators are taking the cosmology. Since dwarves and dark elves are terms used interchangeably in Norse myth, and since we've already fought dark elves as well as met dwarves, how will they change what worlds are shown? Will they have Nidavellir, or will it be Svartalheim? I'd go with having Svartalheim and the dwarves are simply their own unique thing separate from the dark elves. I mean they kind of have to go that route or the other way around, that the dark elves are native to alfheim just that they are trying to gain control over the rest of it and Nidavellir is it's own thing.

People keep saying "oh I guess Fenrir hasn't been born yet". Mimir straight up mentioned him by name when talking about Skoll and Hati, the wolf giants, and how Odin stole them from Fenrir when they were pups (but Mimir used one of Fenrir's other names, referring to him as Hróðvitnir). He also mentioned how Brok and Sindri made those unbreakable chains for Odin with the weirdest of materials near the end of the Dwarven Armor quest, and as people know, said chains were used to imprison Fenrir.

@@bleddynwolf8463 my guess is a bit of both. In the OG Norse Mythology, Fenrir Bites off Tyr's arm, but here he still has both, and since Tyr in this universe is against Asgard compared to actual Norse Mythology, he probably had no part in chaining up Fenrir and so he's still got his arm.

It's just that in the old Norse Mythology, Fenrir could basically break out of anything the Aesir put him in and so they were playing a "game" with him to see what he couldn't break out of (he was getting pretty big and pretty strong and he legit made Odin terrified), and eventually Fenrir was getting kinda tired and weary of this, so he said he'd only keep going if someone put their arm in his jaw in case they betrayed him. Tyr either didn't know about the unbreakable chains or thought that Fenrir would break them anyways, and since Fenrir and Tyr were best friends he volunteered like it was nothing, and the rest is history. My guess is maybe Heimdall will be missing an arm in God of War

Jormungandr is also a child of Loki and he definitely exists. I think that either there’s some time shenanigans going on, or that Atreus is going going to command jormungandr, Fenrir and those on that side against the Aesir. If Atreus isn’t there parent, the Loki reveal is (in my opinion) meaningless if it isn’t paid off in another way. Him being indirectly the cause of Baldurs death, in a way like Loki was, just isn’t that satisfying of a reason.
