First time I saw this episode, it really blew me away. Christopher Lee gives nothing less than 100%. (I think it's one of his best performances). OSB may not have had a huge budget to work with, but they sure produced some of the most incredible and memorable episodes, thanks to John Newland. The atmosphere of this episode is pure gold.

Christopher Lee another European schooled actor like so many others of his kind tended to be a cut above the rank and file performers. I have seen so many of his films and he seems to live each role that he plays in a very intense manner. Obviously an extremely dedicated artist and craftsmen, like him or not you have to admire the mans approach towards his roles no matter how large or small the part may be. He plays each one with the same intensity and precision, indeed an admirable quality that few actors can match.

Brucev7 ..... never cared for many british horror films .... a few that were decent were "brides of dracula" (sans christopher lee, at that) .... the giant behemoth .... the gorgon ..... day of the triffids .... and a few that I can't seem to remember the names. cushing and lee never put any fear factor in me (looked too contrived with the eloquent speech and color filming) ..... nothing eerie. I think that cushing being the good guy gave them a whimpy touch because he doesn't look or act too masculine. hammer films were ,for the most part, not up to par!

Maureen Longthorne Some of the best death scenes were done by Sir Lee. I've seen two (2), outstanding death scenes in 60 yrs, one is Sir Lee as Dracula, killed by Peter Cushing and the other was Ozzie Davis, on TV of all places.

I found that in HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL. It was one of my dad's favorite programs when I was a kid. I was too young to really appreciate them until now watching them on NETFLIX. Great stories which have depth, depended on character development and sharp writing, rather then explosions, toilet humor etc. Many others come to mind as well.

VERY good point. When I was a kid my dad's 3 favorite shows were Gunsmoke, Combat! and Have Gun Will Travel. I've started viewing HGWT, Bill and you are correct. Many of the episodes were written by Gene Roddenberry, creator of STAR TREK. Incredible how much depth and maturity the stories have, the main character Paladin, oft times quoting from Shakespeare or poetry. Ironic how writers today mistake continuous libertine story lines as adult

They really didn't have to use special affects as now. The acting and directing made the film even on a beer budget. They don't make them like they did before. We've lost something. Although I can't put my finger on it, but the magic is gone, along with the 1950s. RIP.

Would love to see Hollywood recreate ''One Step Beyond'' But in order for the series to work it would have to have the following qualities: 1.John Newland as the host...John taped several different intros, so that shouldn't be a problem. 2.The same original music sound track. 3.The same black and white film format, to retain the eerie atmosphere of the show. I believe the show would be a big hit. Are you listening Hollywood?

I sent CBS a nice long letter telling them it's time to put out the official versions of season 2 and 3 of One Step Beyond. They put out season 1 several years ago to slow sales. I tried in my letter to convey that since then the show has garnered MUCH MORE INTEREST and that the last two seasons would sell. They said, "We'll let you know...." So if EVERYONE who likes the show would go on their web site to the contact spot and tell them you want ONE STEP BEYOND....then maybe they'll put them out. Then finally we will be able to see good prints instead of endless poor quality videos of the show!

When I showed this episode to Heather Goldsmith when she lived in Elkton, she told Jackson Grimes about it and he told her, "if anything is possible, he'd like to go back to 0hio in 1999 and kill Marta Jenkins, as she's a thing that should not live". I guess he thought the soldier was stupid for feeling sadness over killing his former girl.
