I just reset mine to "increased traction" again after about a year or normal, and the difference is startling. The car just feels more lively and responsive and better-balanced all the time. There's noticeably less understeer, which I figure is because now there's less of a load on the front tires, so more of their available traction can be devoted to cornering. Definitely worth a minor reduction in gas mileage IMHO.

I know it's an old video and you sold the car by now, but do you remember what was the option with "reduced noise" about? Was that meaning the haldex pump is off? I want to buy a proper haldex controller from VDVeer, mainly to be able for powering off the pump on highways (less wear and fuel consumption). But that module is so expensive, almost 1k euro. If I could do it with a regular cheap OBD2 hardware and software, would br great.

I really don't remember. During highway coasting/maintenance throttle the haldex pump should be minimally engaged by the factory software by default I would guess.

@@noctisgtyou are right, on highways, the pump will not be so much used if all the wheels have the same pressure and diameter. Otherwise, the ABS sensors tells the pump to kick in. The Haldex is a smart thing, but doesn't mean it's perfect. Standard functions are for good shape cars / drivers. But we are not, that's why we have to adjust it sometimes 😀 Still, I would let it set on "standard" in wet or icey roads because that could save a life, avoiding a side slip. In offroad, I don't really need that "increased traction" function because I have a rear diff locking wich also tells the pump to fully pressurise the haldex. (I have a Vw T5.1 4mo camper).

Does this option exist for mk7 golf r’s?
@ezymarquez5521 Жыл бұрын
thanks for the video! just wanted to ask if you're running you're ECU / TCU Stock or is it tuned? I've got my golf r on stage 2, and im wondering if doing this increased traction would affect / cause errors with the tunes

It was all stock

Did you feel the difference of increased traction at the track?
@noctisgt3 жыл бұрын
It feels like the car doesn't push into understeer as much when accelerating out of a corner at the track. Two days ago at autocross on a wet day I could powerslide the car under heavy acceleration which is always fun! On top of the observations in the video, I think the haldex system engages earlier and more consistent, without favoring fuel consumption.
@JosephSheu863 жыл бұрын
have you kept the increased traction until now? given nearly 2 years, any longer term issues?
@noctisgt3 жыл бұрын
Yes it's still on and have used it since on multiple track and autocross days. No long term issues so far, I just change the haldex oil twice as fast as the manual recommends.

@@noctisgt how is oil in good condition ?
@noctisgt3 жыл бұрын
@@paolosollecito I've since sold the car. Oil was in good condition at 20k. I'd keep the 20k change interval with this enabled and some track driving.

@@noctisgt thanks improve rear traction on wet? Can you feel difference than standard? Any problem or fuel consumption ? Thanks
@noctisgt3 жыл бұрын
@@paolosollecito I did feel a small difference on snow, the rear engaged a bit quicker. No major difference on the track. Fuel impact were negligible.
@Farshadtasch4 жыл бұрын
So do you find this setting helped in the snow or made it worse?
@noctisgt4 жыл бұрын
Based on my tests it helped as it engaged AWD quicker or at least sent more torque initially to the rear axel
