We love us some smoky pig barbecue. We drive down from Glasgow to eat there sometimes. We love having the choice of vinegar and mayonnaise slaw down here, but the best choice of all is having shoulder on the menu. I always remember working the concession stand during tournament time when our son played baseball, people from Louisville would order shoulder they had never heard of it -one bite and they were hooked. They bought us out every time.

Dang!! That shredded dog! What a pile of food! I had a similar shoulder off the BBQ during the Mardi Gras celebration in Lafayette LA last February! Yum! Dad's turtle pie looked great! That was a lot of snapping! Seems like Lexington must have some big eating being a college town!?? Great video!

My husband and I feel the same way about family-style restaurants and have "collected" a few favorites over the years for many return trips; The Creekside Restaurant in Campbellsville, The Cedarwood in Lebanon, Longhunter's in Greensburg, The Lighthouse in Sulphur Well, Farmer's Feedmill in Leitchfield, Bucky Bees Barbeque in Cave City, Grand Victorian Inn in Park City, The Bluebird in Stanford, Bread of Life in Liberty, Cecconi's in Springfield, Little Dave's in Brandenburg, Mike Linning's in Pleasure Ridge/Valley Station (where we grew up, Founded in 1925, our grandparents loved Linning's), The Overlook in Leavenworth Indiana, and Back Home Restaurant here in E-town. ​@@goodallscountrykitchen We love discovering great Mom & Pop restaurants. Have you ever read the old annual 'Adventures in Good Eating', travelogue by state books by Duncan Hines? (I only learned in the 1990's he was a real person from Bowling Green!) I've collected a few from the 1940s and '50s. In the days before interstates and fast-food joints. Nice old hotels and quaint inns. When old Colonial and Antebellum houses in small towns were reused as restaurants and tea shops on the first floor. A few in Kentucky are still in business. That's what I was talking about when I was talking about "bad" Texas food/restaurants. They don't know nothing bout this! Can't find pork steak anywhere, you have to pay for slaw to put on your sandwhich, some places won't even sale slaw (fish and bbq places), and the beans taste like chilli not baked beans. I have to "try before I buy." 😢

You should absolutely check out The Lighthouse Restraunt in Sulphur Well, KY. The family style dinner is outstanding if you like fried chicken, country ham, and catfish - the sides are great also.

Smokey Pig is solid for sure! If you want really good bbq and you like beef brisket you won’t find any better then out in shelbyville right off 64 East at a great place called KenTex BBQ

If you’re in Bowling Green, you should try Geno’s New York Style Italian Deli on Scottsville Rd. That was my jam back in the day. Gyros, muffaettas, pizza by the slice, and cannoli just to name some of the menu items.

If you're headed towards Nashville you should try the Loveless Cafe, best pulled pork I've ever had. Rubbin' Butts BBQ in Sellersburg is pretty good too.

Since you've expanded your range, I'd like to suggest a couple of places in the Warren County/Butler County area. "My Mother's Daughter Cheesecakes" in Morgantown and "King's BBQ and Burgers" food truck that I believe is mostly around Morgantown and Bowling Green. Both are excellent and both are on Facebook.

@@goodallscountrykitchen Oh good. Looked thin and dry. I am not sure how I have missed this place. Three years since passing thru there. What types of wood do you smoke with? I am partial to apple wood to smoke with. Apple trees. But I change it up sometimes. Nothing tastes better than wood smoked. The company I work for, sells the best mac and cheeses. Five cheese mac and cheese, a best seller. All white cheeses. Even the cheddar. No anatto added to make it yellow. Cabot vermont aged cheddar, great. We go through tons of it. Food is my business. Soups and sauces. We go through about half a million pounds of just cheese a month. For different mac and cheese. Meat? A million or so pounds a month. Try a 5 white cheese mac and cheese. Much better. Also, styrofoam and plastic suck. Serve it in bowl, that serves the table. Oh, I was also a kitchen manager. Family style is acceptable. Those single portions look less than KFC sides.Cheaper to wash dishes, than throw away containers. Buy bigger oblong plates. Hand written signs? Put a text board outside fo welcome. All will see it. Much more inviting. Just saying. Why would people step in, if they haven't stepped in? To see a sign? Do I know the restaurant business? You bet I do. For four decades. You don't have much of a draw to there. In my opinion. Why I haven't been there. For sure? Lack of advertising.

Do your people clean wheels or stands, for equipment? Treat for Listeria? Or cooking surfaces for ecoli contamination? USDA here every day. I will not stop there. Probably get sick.
