Her best arc for me was her friendship turned relationship with dan. We get to see her function normally, like how one acts according to their age. We also saw her intellectual side that wasn't shown that much in the earlier seasons. She was carefree, and pressure-free with her moments with Dan. I don't mind them not ending up together, but I wish she didn't go back to Chuck.
@terrawrites19002 ай бұрын
I know Chuck and Blair have the passion and drama, but....I've always kind of felt that Dan/Blair and Serena/Nate as the endgames made the most sense, and feel like I've been in the smaller camp as far as Dair being the ultimately better ship, but I agree - it was a mature, real, adult relationship where they actually felt compatible and that they helped each other grow while supporting each other in a healthy way.
@gabrielleduplessis73882 ай бұрын
I really wanted dan and blair to be end game. I hate they ruined both of their arcs and what I still feel is the healthiest relationship on the show so she can go back to chuck. She saw Chuck’s side many times. The time when she said no to him and he smashed a window with her in front of it. Trading her for a hotel. Oh and murdering his dad. Yet, she married him. I don’t get it. I liked that Dan and Blair complimented each other. They both liked climbing up the social ladder. Dan loved the perks of being rich just like Blair did. They shared intellectual interests. And I loved how safe they felt with each other. I hated how they made safety and security and trust was wrong compared to lust and passion that just fades in time. Passion can come from trust and foundation too, but the initial honeymoon stage passion kind of fades in time.

@terrawrites19002 ай бұрын
@@gabrielleduplessis7388 yes, exactly this. They were perfect compliments to each other and even if they were going to go the route of Dan being GG in the end, I feel like canonically Blair STILL makes more sense than Serena. In the book he wrote, SHE/Claire was the MC love interest while Sabrina was kind of the villain - and that’s truly how Dan saw them, in the long run. Blair would understand doing something vindictive to grasp for power, might actually respect it in the end. I also genuinely loved Serenate together and their arcs growing together and figuring out what to do with their lives when they were kind of aimlessly floating just made SENSE. Chuck…should have ended with no one. Or maybe Vanessa, I feel like her tough love no nonsense would actually give him a redemption arc and demand better of him than just make excuse after excuse in the storyline for Chuck being horrible /: And ultimately, Eric or Dorota being GG would have been better, Dan was too obvious after he wrote the novels about their lives but…it is what it is, I guess. The reboot could have done so good and was somehow worse, so I don’t even want another attempt at correcting this 😂 unless *i* write it, HBO hit me up ty!

Everything about GG was a bad message: the characters were terrible people who did terrible people and somehow all ended up with their childhood sweethearts. However, they were fascinating, scandalous and more complex than initially thought which made it fun (although nowadays probably considered more tame). They almost all had character development at the very end. Also, please no hate but I think she and Dan would never work, admittedly they have shared interests and cute moments that I enjoyed but I don't think that's enough. Blair needed someone who understood what it meant to be born into priviledge: the pressure to live up to expectations, always striving and a taste for the finer things. Besides at the end of the show the audience can infer that while she is a mother she is also successful in the fashion industry - basically having it all because she's Blair Waldorf. So bring on the characters and their poor role modelling I loved them all. Although Dan being GG......I just won't go there.
@mnm5972 ай бұрын
@@sarahclydesdale5035 nah, I disagree. First, it's not whether they were terrible people, they were teenagers who made mistakes and did stupid things. But, unlike, say, The O.C. which had their main characters grow over the course of the show, I don't think that was the case here. We see that in s6 Blair tries to bully Dan into retracting story about her which shows to me (together with some other s6 storylines) that she still hasn't grown out of her petty, scheming, high school mean girl persona. Also, her "successful buisnesswoman" thing doesn't seem convincing. Due to sloppy writing in the last two seasons, I don't know if it was intentional, but her revolutionary buisness idea was designing school uniforms! Convincing parents to buy overpriced school clothes every year is something that I don't think would fly even on the Upper East Side, let alone somewhere else. Abolishing school uniforms was a trend way before 2012. so I really don't know how her buisness would succeed, but again, maybe it was just sloppy writing and we're supposed to think that it's a genius idea, i honestly don't know. As for her and Dan, I'm not sure if it'd work as endgame, maybe if they introduced their relationship differently then they did in s5 (if it was nore like in s4) it could've worked. However, her ending up with Chuck roughly a year and a half after he physically attacked her was a really bad idea. Shows like this simply shouldn't send a message to teenage girls that their abusive boyfriends might transform into perfect gentlemen if they wait a few years. And no matter how much it was said how Chuck has changed, it was never really convincing to me. That's, among other things, why I think the ending was so bad.
@sarahclydesdale50352 ай бұрын
@mnm597 Jenny sent Serena to a mental hospital, Serena manipulated Dan into having sex with and filmed him without consent, Dan writing and perpetuating rumours about his 'friends', Nate committing fraud, Chuck multiple assaults and Blair bullied just about everyone. I view them as bad people who do good things. They have a very 'no one hurts you but me' attitude. Yet they all got what they wanted in the end. Also Blair started with the back to school clothes but the show does infer she does more things than that later. Besides,regardless of her choices, she seems happy. All I can say is: I know I love them xoxo
