"The bomb's payload is exposed, I can use the Power Winch to trigger a controlled explosion." The first time the player is exposed to this line in Batman Arkham Knight is truly the most pivotal point in the entire franchise or maybe the history of gaming as a whole. The crisp enunciation of Man's delivery, combined with the triumphant and atmospheric tone, conveyed by the soundtrack, sends shivers down the spine of anyone who hears it. Truly an unforgettable moment. Dare I say, rivaled only by the Jonkler's shocking dialogue upon hearing "Officer Balls" in the Aslume, or perhaps, even the Bone and Killer Cock boss battles. No other moments in gaming before, or since, have had such a long lasting impact on the state of media or our modern society.

I would actually argue that in Arkham Asylum, its most pivotal scene was when Joker infected himself with the Titan formula as it became a catalyst for the events that followed in the next games. Sure the Titan already existed, but had Joker not infected himself what he did in Arkham Asylum would have just been a regular night for him.

For Arkham Asylum, I feel like they are two more pivotal scene: Scarecrow is kidnapped by Waylon Jones, leading to Crane wanting revenge on Batman, leading to Arkham Knight and the fall of Batman and the rise of The Nightmare. And the other scene is Joker shooting himself with the Titan, leading to his poisoning, the four jokers, the tiring of Bruce during the night of City of Fear, leading to him making the mistake of not activating the damn tracker like he did with Nightwing

That whole interaction is one of my favorite moments of the franchise. He’s the surrogate father who does know how to get through to this more matured Bruce and shows how far they have come since Origins where there was some antagonism because of Alfred wanting him to be safe and stop the crusade and Batman’s stubborn refusal to listen to him and understand where he’s coming from.

My favourite scenes include final confrontation with bane. Where they dive deep into Batman’s no kill rule and Batman has to overcome with shock gloves. It really ties up everything that Batman learned in the game. Alfred resurrection, medics in black gate and electrocutioners words in beginning. In that fight there are so many stakes. Joker, Batman, Bane and Gordon’s life. Kinda sad that it wasn’t included in video. Great video nonetheless

There is two major and pivotal scenes I love The first is Batman finding out about, meeting and saving The Joker for the first time. “…Someone named, *The Joker* “ and “Who forces a man to kill the ones he loves? The Joker” those two sentences sent chills down my spine. Like at this point in the series The Joker is only a shadow or phantom and you can here how uneasy Batman is when he finds out why Joker killed Tiffany, not because she was in his way but because he wanted to, he wanted Roman to suffer. The Joker is a new type of enemy he hasn’t dealt with yet and I think it scared him a bit. And then Batman saving him, twice might I add, instead of letting him fall and stopping him from killing himself, that set them both on a path that defy the both of their journeys as archenemies, it would also seal the fates of so many innocent people but at the same time Batman can’t betray his code. It’s such great writing The second is The Joker’s death. “You wanna know something funny? Even after everything you’ve done, I would’ve saved you”. That is one of the best moments in the series, deep, deep down Batman does care about The Joker, I think he’s the one villain who he wants to save but can’t, he can’t change him. He even CARRIES his lifeless body out of Arkham City, The Joker’s death changed him it left a gaping hole Im that couldn’t be filled. . Idk if I’m crazy but I cried when Joker died, am I wrong to feel that way?

Also his line to Batman: "life would be so simple if you were all I wanted", which, well, goes all the way from sacrastic remark to pretty much reality through the course of the game. :D Not to argue with your picks, they are more influential to the whole story. Right at the end of Arkham Asylum man Battered, beaten, thrown through hell, when the Joker gets up after yanking him down the third time…Joker goes “I can take it, I can take anything you throw at me bats” and as the dialogue progresses I love how joker asks “ready for the next round” and Bruce, looking down, spraying Explosive Gel on his fucking hand just goes “Always…” THAT IS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT POINT TO BATMAN, the man, will always, ALWAYS, get back up and will fight on the side of justice, the almost pitiful tone he takes in saying “I’ll never let you win” to me just showcases that Bruce knows no matter how many times the joker tires, Batman, will always, always stop him That shit hits me hard bro, I love your content!!

Since you did not put Arkham Shadow's Pivotal Point I will put mine: In the scene where Batman chases the Rat King's right-hand man, he was so angry and brutal that even the other rats were afraid of him, Both Alfred and Tompskin ask if Batman "isn't going too far" and at first Batman doesn't give a damn. But that changes when Batman meets Bolton, he sees that his anger and brutality is fueling Bolton to be more aggressive. Batman realizes that just brutality alone would not be enough to save Gotham and so from the Asylum onwards, Batman is calmer and even in Arkham City he tells Mr. Freeze "You don't want to do this" because he knows that Freeze was letting his emotions speak louder than reason.

Great video BUT, you missed one MASSIVE MASSIVE thing in Arkham Asylum. The most pivotal moment in that game is Croc capturing and mauling Scarecrow. Without that scene, Arkham Knight would never have happened the way it did, the entire Scarecrow plot of that game wouldn’t have happened. It would only have been a Jason revenge story, thus, Batman wouldn’t have actually been able to use Scarecrows fear toxin to fake out the Joker by letting him take over and then locking him away from the inside of his mind by letting Scarecrow accidentally exploit the Jokers fear of being forgotten. Batman would have actually succumbed to being the Joker if not for Scarecrow. Let me elaborate. Scarecrow perceives what happened to him in Asylum as Batmans fault for not backing off and letting him go when he asked him to, leading him to feel that Batman backed him into Croc who then obviously mauled him greatly. Scarecrow touches on it briefly in Knight but you can tell by how Scarecrow returns that the Croc event made him snap. He went from being a scrawny B list scientist with an obsession with fear and its power to control and torment to prove a point; to someone who had to dropped the silly crazed scientist persona and take himself and his scientific talents seriously, and to really focus on making an example of Batman in a serious and impactful manner, and in a way, he actually won. He successfully exposed ‘Batman’ as just a man and causes Batman to activate nightfall. But back to Scarecrow, had he not felt that Batman caused his mauling by Croc, he wouldn’t have had a reason to gain that sense of grander purpose and go from just spaffing Batman with scary gas now and then to making the entirety of central Gotham a hellhole not only to expose Batman but to spread fear and terror on a city wide scale for the whole world to watch. (which originally was supposed to be literally the entire East coast of the USA but Batman managed to reduce it to just central Gotham) The fact that Scarecrow managed to pull himself together enough and be resourceful enough to be literal seconds away from completely caking the entire Eastern coast of the USA in gas says something about how much he had to reevaluate himself, his persona, his methods and goals after Croc almost killed him because of Batman. No hate on the video of course, this is just my personal opinion

While Asylum was probably the one with the least amount of scenes, it has the most world building and catalysts for the series going forward, how it's not afraid to utilize character like Killer Croc and Clayface in the non realistic universe like the Nolan films were using at the time with a more grounded Ras al Ghul, Joker, and Bane, but it is setting the tone where large amounts of people will die and doesn't gloss over the darker aspects of the universe. Titan became a crux of the plot going forward, how the game may or may not have intentionally set up Scarecrow's return being a major thing, which was cemented in City's easter eggs. The whole Arkham City Easter Egg leading to the next game in the series. Ras Al Ghul being teased to be alive after his riddle is solved, Clayface being boneless in Asylum leading to the big plot twist of City. And how the series started going to Arkham Asylum, and ended with going back to Arkham Asylum in Knight, specifically the Arkham Mansion. How batman's last Nightmare was him on the trolley the Joker was in at the beginning of Asylum, ending in Knight him being strapped to the cart by Scarecrow, who was also the doctor checking him in the nightmare. Of course Joker shooting himself up with Titan being the big plot moment. Asylum wasn't meant to be super pivotal, but it became the longest, hardest Night Batman ever had in his career up to that point, and it kickstarted the approval of Arkham City, the Death of the Joker, and the night the Batman died, the rest of the series was defined by the events of this one Night, this seemingly normal night of returning the Joker, entering with nothing but Batarangs, ended up being the night everything changed and was the beginning of the end. Arkham Asylum was all the pieces put together to spell the end of Batman. Joker's takeover led to the approval of Arkham City, Joker injecting himself with Titan led to his death, and when Scarecrow was mauled by Croc due to Batman just shocking Croc's collar, Scarecrow went into hiding and came back with the Militia, the technology to enact the city of fear, and one of Batman's biggest failures, Jason Todd, and Scarecrow accomplished what he set out to do, dispel the myth of the Batman, resulting in the Knightmare Bat.

I think for the rest it's generally pretty subjective, but for Arkham Knight, the Panessa Studios Mission with Robin is the most pivotal in my eyes. This is the mission where you see the devastating effects of the CJD Joker infected his victims with be fully realized, where we first get hinted that Jason is the Arkham Knight with the Scarecrow-induced Joker hallucinations with Batman losing it more each time, and where we get to fight alongside Robin for the very first (and only) Dynamic Duo appearance in the series on three differently-styled objectives. The betrayal of Henry is also an insane twist that, while retrospectively you could've seen coming, makes it way darker, especially seeing how he "handled" the other Jokers. Most notably though, of course, is that it's where it is first explicitly acknowledged by characters other than Batman that Joker is taking over Bruce's body, that he's a bigger menace to the entire city than he is an asset in saving it. The thing where he doesn't really go into the cell and he has to do it all over again after another brutalizing Jason Todd torture scene (bringing back the theme of Arkham Knight of bad things happening to those who work with Bats) is already hefty, and THEN he goes and slams Robin into the cell, which, holy hell dude, the first time I played through that I was left dumbfounded because it was the first real time it felt like Arkham Batman was making the wrong choice. After that it feels like you're really on the brink of losing control to Joker again, and that Batman may just fail at his task. And then when you finally leave Panessa, you have to go after the Knight again? Just like that? Jeez. Absolutely amazing mission, definitely the turning point of Knight for me and one of my favorites across the whole series.

Honestly, I think the reason why jokers death hit Batman’s death extremely hard, was probably not just because he was such a reoccurring problem and he’d have to come to terms with his death, but also because deep down he wanted to save joker, he desperately wanted to rehabilitate him and fix him, because deep down they’re both the same, they just chose different paths, the clown prince of crime, and the dark knight of Gotham, similar entities yet so different.

The thing with Batman and his love life, in my opinion as a long time comic book reader, is that his love life is and always has been the least interesting thing about him as a character and just drags immeasurably and only just bogs down his stories. The reason why in my opinion Andrea Beaumont is the best love interest for Batman is because in the film it ends with them accepting they can never be together and in my opinion even if they did, Batman is not completely able to accept something like that. Or at least I don't think there has ever been something in the comics so far that would convince me otherwise.

I'm gonna say something controversial here, but I actually really like SSKTJL's explanation for what happened to Batman after Arkham Knight. Basically, the Knightfall protocol would indeed be a pivotal moment for two reasons. The first reason is explained by GothamPaladin, but the second is that it sent Bruce into a very deep spiral of darkness, where he actively uses Fear Gas, and is way too brutal. Superman would one day then decide, in an attempt to actually help him heal mentally, ask him to join the Justice League, except he labels it as a 'tactical decision' to Bruce, because he knew that Bruce would never have accepted the offer if he knew what was really going on. After that, the audio logs do a good job showing the great chemistry all the Justice League members have. So yeah, that's one good thing SSKTJL did in my opinion.

At 12:46 I would have to agree with his statement about arkham origins being a prequel since first people would say it isn't considered an arkham game since rocksteady didn't make it but, it would be considered the start of bruce becoming batman and dealing with all these villains and since he has already figured out how joker ticks in origin, he isn't affected by it during the rest of the arkham games like how he stayed calm when joker inflicted himself with titan but it's just a theory . . . . . . . A GAME THEORY. Thanks for reading 👍
@Bloodhound-18 ай бұрын
Another thing I would add is that Arkham Origins would be the start of Batman of his whole doing things by himself while in Arkham Knight it would show how far he has come like keeping his allies safe like locking Robin in the cell and not telling Gordon that his daughter is still in Gotham and more stuff he has improved on which further more supports his statement about Arkham Origins being the start of the Arkham game even if it wasn't made by rocksteady
