You should really do the story where two women are fighting over a baby so the king threatens to split the baby in half. Thats my favorite bible story ever
@jarskil88624 ай бұрын
But the story is so fucked up. In the end wrong woman gets the baby anyway. So moral of the story is all useless.
@TheZeroNeonix4 ай бұрын
What if the fake mother was, you know, not an irredeemably terrible person and DIDN'T agree to cut the baby in half? What would the supposedly wisest man to ever exist have done then? I mean, the entire reason she kidnapped the baby in the first place was because she was grieving the death of her own baby, and she used the other woman's baby as a substitute to fill the void. She wouldn't just be like, "Oh well. Easy come, easy go." Did the people writing the Bible not know how humans work? lol

@@jarskil8862What the mother gets her baby back. Have you even read the story? The fake mother tells Solomon to do it since she doesn't really care about the child and was just upset she had lost her own. And the real mother broke down in tears and begged Solomon to give the baby to the fake mother if it meant that the baby could live. The real mother who cried got the baby. Plus people need to realise that not everything in the bible is like a moral story. A lot of the time its just telling you what happened with no commentary attached. Literally just recounting history. Like if you read a book in interesting kings and it said one king did this, you wouldnt be like whats the moral of the story. Its just telling you what happened.

@kazmiller964 ай бұрын
The difference is that Adam and Eve had a supernatural reason to not understand good from evil. They literally were incapable of knowing that their action was not acceptable, whereas a child is supposed to have inherited that knowledge and the sin that comes with it (for some reason).
@Sm64wii4 ай бұрын
@@WhiteNoBeard471all Christian accept that it is literal because of original sin, same with Noah’s Ark. if God exists then it isn’t out of the question that those actually occurred, and the argument for classical theism (ontological argument, argument from morality, etc) is strong enough to really make it hard to be an outright anti theist. The idea of 6 24 hour days of creation though wasn’t held by any of the early church fathers. Idk if it helps much, but God basically had the Tree of Knowledge in the garden as a way of having Adam and Eve specifically CHOOSE whether or not to obey Him. He wanted humans to be “free” beings with a conscious and free will, with the CAPACITY to do good. It’s not necessarily eating from the tree itself that was considered wrong, it was that Adam and Eve had the CHOICE to obey God and still deliberately disobeyed him that was the original sin.
@west221b4 ай бұрын
This is what we're taught but it is false; it is eisegesis. The word translated "commanded" is untranslatable (and "commanded" et al. are, so it isn't that). Seeing everything as punitive, the "fall of man", and "original sin" is a Middle Ages teaching, not the authors. A point the author makes is that "knowledge of good and evil" comes at a cost. Caveat emptor, not punishment. One cannot rely on English translations and understand authorial intent.

As a Bible reader regarding this part of the Bible, this is my understanding of it: God gave them the whole garden but he asked them not to eat from that one tree because it was his. It’s a way of showing respect. Like if you come to my house and I ask you to make yourself at home, but I don’t expect you to steal my cash even if I leave it on the side. Or if you come round my house to have something to eat and I say you can have anything you want, but please leave the cake on the side because that is for me. I shouldn’t have to lock it up because it’s my house and you should respect my rules. That tree belongs to him and it was a way of showing respect. And they went against it and he didn’t lie to them because just because they didn’t drop dead immediately they began to die from the second they ate from the tree.

@CdrRogdan4 ай бұрын
This is honestly just dumb. Remember that Adam and even were like children - they didn't understand anything about the nature of right and wrong; they didn't even know they were naked. The reality is that it must have been God's plan for them to eat the fruit, which is evidenced by the fact that there was no such thing as death in the garden, and as such, would have become massively overpopulated without it. You should watch darkmatter2525's take on this. It's pretty funny, but also demonstrates a giant hole in the logic that they weren't supposed to eat the fruit. 1:45 The reason for the tree being there was to test if Adam and Eve would be loyal. It was basically a test to see if they had the capacity to follow simple instructions. 5:00 But Grade... when we are born we have both the DNA of our father and our mother. So by your logic we are all trans people??? 7:20 Since Eve sinned against God she and all her descendants (AKA all woman) will be reminded of Eve's shortcomings when they continue to make babies. Basically the expression "I'm gonna sue you so bad that your grandkids will need lawyers" brought to life 7:35 Adam and Eve were provided with everything they could ever need to continue living (which means food). So because they sinned, they would need to work if they wanted to continue living. It's basically when rich parents cut one of their children from the family money, now that child has to work to survive on their own 8:05 Pretty much the same explanation as my first point. The tree of life would keep them living if they never sinned, but since they did God took away that privilege. They had thousands of trees they could've eaten from, but because they didn't listen to a simple instruction they lost the tree of life, as well as everlasting life

I find it interesting that no one in here has said that maybe the tree was there for a later purpose and that they were just not supposed to eat from it at that time because they were not ready. Scholars agree that it is not the eating of the fruit that caused their spiritual death, but the disobedience against God. Also let me say, God never said that they weren't allowed to touch it... That was Eve that added that in there. When God tells Adam not to eat from the tree.. that is literally all he says. Don't eat from the tree.

That early part about the whole tree and God putting it there right next to them screaming DO NOT EAT THIS APPLE OR ELSE!!! It’s like WTF man? Why put it there, why give me desire in my soul and why have the serpent chatting to anyone!?!? It’s like giving your pet a treat and screaming at them not to eat it, set it down and bam they’re gonna eat it 😂 Ohhh well 😄🤣🤪
@Uknown__4 ай бұрын
So if he put it there without telling you what it does to you. You would still eat it. Also you guys are missing the entire point of this! They knew what it would do and eve said that God said that to them but the serpent tricked them into not listening to God. This was a test or choice for them to wait her choose God or sin.
@advicefordummies89224 ай бұрын
It’s basically a test. We were created with free will. God put that tree hoping man kind won’t fall into temptation and testing there love for him. A well trained dog won’t eat unless it’s ordered too. Yet a hungry one won’t listen, we humans are always greedy and want more. That’s basically why god put it.

As a christian i absolutely love how Grade summarizes these stories! I do have a few nitpicks about this one though and i just want to give another perspective! First, why did God put the bad tree in the garden if it was bad? Well, when God made man he also gave them free will. In a perfect garden theres not much free will you have other than to just kick it, so to give another choice to his creation he made that tree and told them the consequences of eating from it. Did God lie to Adam about dying? No, in the Garden people were essentially immortal so when the 2 ate of the fruit they burdened all of humanity with death. Why did God take away the tree of life? Because Adam and Eve committed the first sin ever. Sin is the separation between you and God, so by them sinning they separated themselves from God. If the two were to eat from the tree of life right after, humanity would be eternally separated from God, forever in sin. Why did the serpent get off so easy? It didnt really, when we read its punishment it is to be assumed that the serpent had other limbs and now God cursed it to not have any. Why Adam's side??? Ultimately i dont know, but based off of other teachings in the bible we can infer that this is to symbolize the oneness of Man and Woman and how when we marry we arent just "Me and her" but that we're one with each other. God likes us naked? No 😂 but I laughed quite a bit at this. To summarize, we had no idea we were naked and when we found out it was a dead giveaway that we ate of the fruit. God also didnt send us out with just fig leaves, he gave us some real clothes like the 3000 B.C equivalent of Gucci (animal skins). So no hate, i really enjoyed the video, I just wanted to clear some stuff up! Glad to see you back Grade!
