I was lucky enough to work a private event that hired King and his band - I remember getting dropped off at the site : a little private island used for catering events etc. and walking towards the courtyard and hearing an awesome sound check , definitely unlike the previous ones because , for one , the audio/mix was professional quality. Then, I hear this crazy Bluesy/psychedelic guitar effects and playing, and ironically enough Marcus King first came to mind , but I was like “nah, it couldn’t be “. Then I get to clearing and there he is with the band , working out everything. I was like:”this is gonna be a real TREAT!!” . I told the others working the event how special this was gonna be - this kid is gonna be HUGE, very soon , so soak it up!- awesome experience, and he is a real , down to earth, personable type of guy

What a story. Not generally a country fan, but Marcus, Billy Strings, and Wyatt Flores (check him out!) really pull me in. Interesting that battling mental health issues seems to produce such emotive and authentic music. All good people. Marcus reminds me of Janice in his singing (and he's a guitar phenom as well).
