Yeah, lots of cars just don't merit a full paint correction, but even a minor correction like this one, plus ceramic or graphene, means 1) the car looks better than it did before, and 2) it will be better protected, so it should stay better-looking longer. Plus the comparative ease of cleaning after a protective coating is applied is an additional benefit even if no paint correction is done at all.

t wouldn't be a fair comparison, as Opti-Coat Pro+ is a 7+ year pro grade coating that can only be applied by authorized dealers and a service like that, for a car like mine, starts at around $1500 USD, versus a 100$ kit of this graphene coating that anyone can purchase and easily apply. So for value, hands down the graphene coating kit. For durability, only time will tell as these are brand new products so nobody has had the time to test them over multiple years yet, obviously. If it gets anywhere near 4+ years of durability, then I would opt for the graphene kit.

@@PanTheOrganizer Its probably now only a matter of time before graphene coatings take the place of ceramic coatings, we are yet to see graphene coatings from some of the big hitters like carpro or gtechniq they could really change the landscape with products that might last longer than ten years. 큐어 디테일링-CURE Detailing it really is graphene, essentially a separated graphite molecule
@xtnuser53384 жыл бұрын
I'm only guessing here... they probably just put graphite into their formula. There is zero chance that you can apply something with a sponge, in an environment of regular air, and at regular outdoor temperatures, that will actually result in a single atom thick, unbroken honeycomb layer of graphene all over your car. If that was actually possible, there wouldn't be a five year limit, and you wouldn't need to coat it or "maintain" it with something else afterwards. I'm not saying it won't perform as advertised...I'm just saying that it's an awfully profitable way for them to sell a tiny bit of graphite powder. Again...just a guess.

@PanTheOrganizer4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the trust you place in my opinion. I appreciate that. Graphene is a new buzzword in the industry as this is new to detailing technology (although it has been around in the scientific world since the mid 2000's). So it's normal that people have questions. I just don't want people to get caught up on graphene vs graphene oxide dilemmas, how much graphene % in is a bottle, where are the MSDS data sheets, etc. Like some became obsessed when ceramic coatings were becoming popular. Many thought it was snake oil. Fast forward 5 or 6 years, and everybody now knows how awesome ceramic coatings are. Who cares how much SiO2 % is in a bottle, how can they bottle silica, etc. What really counts is how a product performs in real life, in real world scenarios. I have a big scientific background with university degrees in molecular biology and biochemistry so I can make up my mind quicker than most on new tech in the car care industry. I have the ability thanks to my channel to discuss with the brands and their chemists and make up my own mind. Pure graphene is prohibitively expensive and hard to source. Graphene oxide, its reduced form, is much more usable and easier to attain. Each company has a different way of formulating their products, and for 303 they have been able to make it work. Check out this video where their chemist explains more about the science behind it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6aWaXRtpZqtoNU I can’t stress enough how people should focus more about the product performance than about the chemistry. I remember when ceramic coatings first started being popular 5-6 years ago. People were saying that ceramics were snake oil. They were focusing only on SiO2 % and MSDS data sheets instead of product performance. They said it’s impossible to bottle silica (SiO2). So much drama. Fast forward 5-6 years later, and everyone knows just how amazing ceramic coatings actually are. So the same thing seems to be the case with graphene or graphene oxide based products. As it’s new to market technology (although graphene has been around for over a decade in the science world), people are questioning everything about it. It’s nice to have open discussions about new products and new technologies, but again, people shouldn’t focus only on chemistry. What’s most important is how a product performs in real life. And from what I have tested so far, graphene (or graphene oxide) based products look VERY promising. The future of automotive paint protection is exciting!

@@PanTheOrganizer You said use Carpro CQ Quartz UK and gloss and I did the last few years on all my vehicles and loved it. So today I bought Glassparancy Graphene. I cant wait to try it. I have one vehicle I coated with Carpro and Gliss a year ago and because it is an extra vehicle I could work on it day by day and not drive it etc until I was completely finished. It was over a month before it got wet after following your routine for prep and coating and topping with gliss then reload. I dont know it was the extra cure time or the fact that it stays in a garage more than my daily driver but the water beading exactly a year later is still insane. Water stands up on it like a freshly coated vehicle. Other vehicles had received the same coating and prep but not the extended cure time before getting wet and they dont seem to hold up as well. Do you think there is a big benefit to the extended cure that one vehicle had? Or is it because I dont drive it every day that the coating is holding up so great ? I used the same Carpro products on all of them last September of 2019 on three vehicles but the one that cured the longest is clearly behaving better in terms of beading etc. Thanks again for your expertise. I tell everyone to just watch your videos and take your advise and buy off your top three list.

@@PanTheOrganizer I received the Graphene last week and applied it this weekend. I had a LOT of problems that I have not had before with any other coatings. Maybe it was because it was rainy and humid but the temps were 70s and I kept getting really bad high spots and some shadow like high spots where it almost didn't wipe off well and just left a very slight haze. I hated the applicator that came with it so I switched to a traditional foam pad with a small suede like mini towel like everyone else supplies and that helped some. But I think its only fair that you warn everyone about this being a more difficult to apply coating than others such as Optimum or Carpro if it is humid. Also if any water weeps out of trim or molding or around a mirror etc. you can count on a big ugly high spot that you will have to address with polish to level it back out and remove the smudge. I finally got it on and off and it looks great and the boost really helped add the super slick feel I like. I am going to let it cure a week indoors and then get it out and see how it holds up. I hope I dont find a lot more high spots once outside. It took me a LOT longer to apply than Carpro UK and Gliss which is to me a super easy coating system.
@edonsmith86164 жыл бұрын
Today I used Glassparancy Graphene again in very different weather than above. Today it was 65F and very dry outside and I made sure the vehicle was 100% dry. This time I found the application VERY easy to do and none of the problems I mentioned above. It looks and feels fantastic. I think once the boost is applied it actually feels slicker than CarPro Gliss and Reload. Now to see how it holds up. It seems that all my issues above came from the very humid weather I used it in the first time

Lotsa stuff out there lately, some recently released ‘Graphene Coatings’ are sparking discussion, sometimes a bit contentious, sometimes optimistic, sometimes pessimistic but unusually entertaining. Plenty of folks saying it’s nonsense and taking it to task based upon wording (Graphene Coating, Graphene-Infused Coating, Graphene Ceramic Coating, etc.) and the suspect ability to currently actually produce a true GRAPHENE COATING. I wasn’t around when coatings came around, touting such nonsense as “Diamond-Infused 10h Hardness” and similar “9H hardness, over twice as hard as your clearcoat” claims (the latter while being technically correct, in reality proves to pretty close to functionally irrelevant…”This really soft pillow is harder than that really soft pillow”) so dunno if the backlash was similar but it’s quite interesting nonetheless. I dunno, ain’t no scientist but it is all currently quite intriguing to me. I had SPS Graphene on my daily from May 2019 thru August 2020 (16k miles), very nice product but in the end its positive aspects did not quite meet my particular needs so back to ceramics. Frankly, whether or not it says graphene on the label is of no matter to me, the coating in the bottle either works for me and my specific needs or it doesn’t. The SPS was a great coating overall, especially if you like slickness and high water contact angle entertainment. Didn’t meet my needs in the end but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad product at all, rather that it’s just not a great product FOR ME. Time will tell with graphene, I guess. Feynlab Blog Post: Coating Chemistries, and Differentiating Marketing Terms from Actual Chemistry: www.feynlab.com/coating-chemistries-and-differentiating-marketing-terms-from-actual-chemistry/ Rag Company Q & A w/ Gtechniq; 46 minutes in the topic of Graphene comes up: ASK Us About Detailing & Cars w/ GTECHNIQ! | Q&A Thursday #81 | August 6th, 2020: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpvcfZqblK1laMU A little bit from Alfred Yow, the mind behind the Art d’ Shine/SPS coatings. Kinda clarifies the role of the Reduced Graphene Oxide component in the coatings. From a Facebook post regarding graphene coatings. Seems like a bit of a ‘helper’ to the PDMS portion of the formulation: " To add on some answers to the article on Graphene, The polymer used in Artdeshine’s product, PDMS has very low thermal conductivity, absorbing less heat when exposed. And if heat has been absorbed, the better dissipation and thermal conductivity ability of reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO) will help to negate. What we do not want is all that heat absorbed to be trapped. To say it simply, this is a case of using rGO to reduce the insulation (keeping heat) properties of PDMS. Artdeshine has never touted using flames in any of our tests or marketing materials. This serves no purpose to demonstrate any capability of our coatings. We are not making fire-proof/retardant materials. And again, we are not touting thermal insulation as a beneficial property, we are trying to negate insulation. Water repellent capabilities do not come from the use of rGO and can be seen in our marketing materials and information. A very high polymer (PDMS) content is used to achieve the better water-repellent effects. The polymer has been functionalized to provide much better water repellent capabilities." I think it's gonna take some time to figure all of this out re: graphene. Migliore, SPS/Art d' Shine, Ethos, Glassparancy, Adam's, TAC Systems and a few more have released products w graphene as part of their formulations but perhaps more telling are those mfg's who haven't; CarPro, Gyeon, Feynlab, Optimum and Gtechniq, some of whom have openly questioned the value of graphene given it's manufacturing limitations at this time. 🤔 The primary 'optimistic benefit' of graphene as it's currently marketed is the potential reduction in water spotting due to it's ability to reduce surface temps; occasional mentions of graphene's toughness is tossed about but that seems to be a secondary point. Any visible performance benefits such as slickness, water behavior and similar are (as Albert Yow explains it) not due to graphene at all so, well...I dunno 😄 Will be fun to watch but not convinced that it's really any kind of 'revolution' given my personal experience with it. I guess that could change in future...or not. What I get from all of this is: 1. Current technology does not allow for any fundamentally significant level of Graphene to be incorporated into a coating. 2. Any real or perceived benefits of a graphene coating have very little (if anything) to do with any trace amount of graphene in it. 3. The functional foundation of any graphene coating is basically the same as a ceramic, likely Siloxane/Polysiloxane/Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) or Polysilazanes. So if we bake a 'Graphene Coating Cake' the cake batter itself is the same as if we baked a 'Ceramic Coating Cake' and the graphene in the cake is not significant enough to even be considered the frosting on the cake but rather merely the handful of 'sprinkles' on top of the frosting on top of the cake. Maybe. I kinda view it as using a ceramic coating that for some reason has an extra word on the label, and merely taking up space on that label is likely the greatest visible contribution 'graphene' makes to the overall satisfaction.

Hi Pan. After seeing how good my 4Runner came out, my neighbor asked me to help him do his car. Long story short: so you know, the Glassparancy can flash, like ceramics, in very high humidity. Today I was able to do about 1/2 of his car without problems, as we worked before the rain came. We pulled his car into his garage just before it started raining but then, about 30min after working inside, and the rain had been falling, I started getting flashing. Luckily it happened in a small panel I was working on so it wasn’t much but I still had to use a polish/compound to remove the area that flashed. Now we will wait until the rain stops to finish the car, but it remains inside to keep water off of it. I hope this helps you and your viewers who plan to use this!
