Hi Miranda, didnt know about these graphite paints, just ordered on amazon they were Just over £15 which I thought was reasonable. My summer house was finished last wk which is going to be my art studio, I saved up for 5 years but know ive got an art space instead of a tiny table facing a wall in my kitchen. A guy is comming next wk to put elec in there and ive been doing it all up like halloween, love it 😂

Kim did a DIY video & I bought a bunch of stuff. Think I have some kind of graphite I can grate to mix with watercolor. Of course now to find a miniature grater. Qor's Ardoise Grey is next on my buy list. Just saying.

Yes enjoy these paints. I have kuretake 6 colors. It has a brown violet blue green yellow and red. Then bought the derwent. XL graphite blocks. Works well as a watercolor also. Lindsay Weirich has an online class with Michaels and did the airplane with the derwent blocks. Having fun exploring.

Must try. The Derwent blocks are vegan!

I do love how muted they are and just a bit different to your regular colours. I also love watching Denise love how she actually mix graphite in with her water colours as well. It looks very beautiful. I love your artwork enjoy them.

Watching you swatch your kuretake paint makes me want to paint with my set 🥰 I love kuretake sumi ink set, so I'll definitely will enjoy this graphite set 😊 Ironically I hate yellows but I loove these dark yellows you get from these sets, yes it's ugly but absolutely useful when it come to mixing greens.

I love graphite paints. I use them when I want to get a moody look and they create "built in shadows" with more pigment. Also great for stormy skies! ❤️

I love the graphites; if you can get the green it is a really lovely one! As is the blue….the whole set is great. 😊

Hmmm... I may have to try those. Of course, that also gives me the excuse to pick up one of may favorite etsy sellers newer palettes. Arts to Embers (whom I have mentioned before) has four palettes designed specifically for the Kuretaki pans, in 6, 12,18, and 24 pan sizes, and there have been whispers that he might bring out a 48 pan size. And while I love the look of the boxes Kuretaki uses, his palettes have one atvantage - a mixing tray! Off to peruse first Amazon, then the AtoE store. Have a great one!

Well, you've opened a can of worms here, LOL! I went to the Arts to Embers Etsy store and want pretty much everything there. I put an Etsy gift certificate on my wish list for Christmas - thank you for reminding me about the store!

I have the Derwent Graphitint Pan set that I enjoy using - I think they're fun and I like the muted sheen to the colors. These Kuretake graphite paints look similar and - judging from your fabulous demonstrations - I'd surely love them too!

Hi Miranda, giveaway i like the graphite red the best. But, i also like the graphite yellow. I do like Kuitaki paints. I hope when i get my art room organized i can start painting again. I am sorry i missed the live on patreon, but i spent the day with my middle daughter and her kids. I have four grandchildren. My middle daughter has three of them. She, her husband, and young kids like to paint War Hammer figures. I love your bloopers and animals. Also, i liked your pictures. Good effort on trying to paint like Steve Mitchell.

I think the Natural Beige might be meant to be a skin tone base color, but it also reminds me of their version of Buff Titanium, which is incredibly handy for painting landscapes!! The Forest Green reminds me of Daniel Smith Cascade Green (Too bad about the PY1 which is very fugitive). Can you believe I've never bought any of these?

I wonder if you could make something similar by simply buying a Stabilo All pencil (a water-soluble graphite pencil which can be used to write easily & clearly on any surface from encaustic to plastic to metal to glass to canvas to acrylic paint to the normal papers you’d expect), shave/sand a bit of graphite dust, as you would with graphite or charcoal in order to apply the dust with a paint brush, & then mix a little of that into some of your existing watercolor paints (or into the same mixtures of gum arabic, pigment, & other ingredients you’d use if you make your own watercolors from scratch)… I will say, when you activate the Stabilo All graphite with water, it gets DARK (I think they may have other colors, but the only one I’ve tried is the black/ordinary graphite color, & when you add water it really does show up quite a blackish, bold, dark graphite grey), so you probably only need to add a very small bit of powder to change the character or a watercolor paint dramatically- so don’t overdo it & waste a bunch of material; these pencils aren’t super cheap, but if you already have plenty of normal watercolors to experiment with, they’re a lot cheaper than buying a whole new set of graphite watercolors… I like workarounds like this because of the flexibility of being able to alter the properties of any paints I want instead of being limited to a prefabricated palette. But I’ll have to give it a try to see how well it works. The Stabilo All works great & activates with water readily, so I doubt any problems mixing the two, & I definitely had no problems mixing & blending the pencil marks with watercolor paints on the paper when I first got one & was testing it out. Just a thought I wanted to put out there. Thanks 🙏 ✌️

Giveaway, only as I have no kuretake bc I gave up but I'm sure there is someone else that has little to no watercolors that could benefit from this more than I. What is your opinion of kuretake as a whole for watercolors? Jw. I know people rave about them but still would like to know your opinon. Btw I absolutely loove the puppies @ the end. I believe that I heard if you rub these the pint will get more shiny bc of the graphite? Idk bc I don't have any of these or a similar product. Anyone know? Have a great day!
@MirandaWatsonArt Жыл бұрын
Yes, if you rub them, they are supposed to become more shiny.
