"Debuting along with Terrapin Station on 2/26/77, Estimated Prophet was a staple of second sets from mid-1977 onward, with its open-ended closing jam often leading to Eyes Of The World, He's Gone, Terrapin Station, or as was the case on July 7, 1989, Standing On The Moon." - David Lemieux

This show stands out as one of my favorites! Not only was it close to home, but it marked the end of an era for JFK stadium! The day was just as HOT as the show was itself, truly a gem for that tour! Just a year earlier, Pink Floyd had launched it's world tour for A Momentary Lapse of Reason album release at JFK also! I saw some fantastic bands play in JFK and it was always a great time even though the stadium smelled like1,000 gallons of rat urine!

Got to see them live only once, but many different videos here on YT. Their concerts could be summed up in two words: "laid back". The band, the crowds, everything. And the show was one looonnnnggg jam session built on a song that seemed to transform from one to another. Easiest going band in the world. Love it.
@jazzzman8050 Жыл бұрын
All correct 👆. But the videos on KZbin are almost all from the later periods of their career, when their sound/style had become more refined. If you listen to the shows from ‘67-‘69…they were fearless, ferocious, acid fueled assaults! All part of the long strange trip. I’m a ‘72-‘73 kinda guy myself : )
@javaman3296 ай бұрын
@@jazzzman8050 me too, in the early 70s they were branching out into Americana/Roots, which is the GD I like best. Saw them twice in '73, first in Baltimore & second in DC at a weekend show with the Allman Bros. Great that more and more of their shows are being released !

Yeah, they allowed free taping of shows, the cassettes you got after the shows in the parking lot, free trades of live shows on cassettes and some one takes it upon themselves to make a vault of locked in unattainable shows that come out only when they feel like it. Bogus BS shout-out to Lemieux. Reminds me of the Daffy Duck cartoon when Daffy gets into the mountain with the riches - " Down down No no no Mine Mine Mine". Except the Duck was funny. Lemieux, at best when ignored.

@@paulfarrehi4200 Nobody has the show for February 1985 at The Meadowlands, either. They have the show after that at Nassau Coliseum but no show for February 1985 at The Meadowlands.
