@elektra815164 жыл бұрын
A much better film that I recommend to anyone
@Avarioth4 жыл бұрын
@@elektra81516 I think it's overrated. To me, it's the same as just about any other horror or horror'ish movie over the last decade, especially newer ones. "Little odd, but seems alright." ~40 minutes in~ "Oooh now I'm halfway in and this is actually interesting. I can't wait to find out what's causing all of this." ~After it ended~ "... Really...?" Cabin in the Woods, Eli, Influence, Hereditary... They all have that in common, that they come up with a somewhat-decent premise. Execute it really well. Make it all seem really interesting and then invents some over-the-top, ridiculous plot-twist at the end to explain how it was all possible. I mean... I get that we've seen almost everything over and over at this point and that it's hard to come up with new, interesting twists, especially for that genre, but something being unpredictable doesn't make it good. They might as well have gone with "It was giant monkeys flinging lamp shades at stars the whole time!". It's like the contestants on talent shows, who do some really weird shit on stage and when they get the expected wtf reaction, they say "But, but... it's different! And I bet YOU couldn't do it!". Yeah well, it's real different to shoot de-thorned roses outta your ass too and I'm sure it'd be real difficult. That doesn't mean most people wanna see it. I just don't get this new wave of making plot twists as ridiculous and unpredictable as possible, to prevent the viewer from being able to figure anything out as the movie goes along. Trying to figure it out along the way is one of the best things. It's like with those old Scooby-Doo episodes, where the monster turned out to be...! Waaaait for it!....... Some rando that never once appeared or was mentioned in the episode. Of course, this is all just my subjective opinion, that I'm only randomly stating cause I'm bored.

@SalahEddineH4 жыл бұрын
Cabin in the woods is much more enjoyable as a caricature of all horror movies. It's main theme is about these underground Gods (Us, the viewers) who want to be fed garbage cliche slasher movie deaths every so often, including unnecessary nudity, and predictable plot ("Gotta keep the customers happy", there's an actual scene about the gratuitous nudity). The meta aspect of it (I mean seriously, a Jump scare in the title card! Just to prove that cheap loud jumpscares are too easy and you can shove them anywhere), is what truly elevates this movie for me. Not the fear aspect. That's how this movie was marketed to me, and that's exactly how I enjoyed it. I mean the number of Easter eggs and references to other movies, in the monster cages, and the artefact room! Cheers.
