yo larry im 51 and from the north shore of LI. Left there in 81. The way you describe how the neighborhood never ratted and adults would smack the kids around for being stupid and then telling your parents so you got a 2nd beating is SO TRUE! When I moved to FL I was scared at first to do anything because I didn't know the people around me. Then I realized they were jerkoffs and I relished in FREEDOM!

Hey Larry the reason why it's called the Old Triangle Bar is because of the famous Irish song called "The Auld Triangle" which refers to the bell the prison wardens used to ring to wake up prisoners in Mountjoy Prison in Dublin, Ireland my hometown. It's a very emotional song often played at funerals and late in the evening when we've had a few Guinness

Listening to Larry talking about his old neighbourhood and memories of all that makes me think of my dad. :) Not that my dad grew up gangster or anything, but his family was poor working class people too in post-war Finland. A few years ago someone published a book with black and white pictures of the old town, and I had him look those over and was like "Oh yeah I remember that place over there! Me and my friends used to hang around there on friday nights, we didn't have anywhere else to go. It was there this and that happened" and so on and so forth. :) AND of course you're a great storyteller, Larry!
