You could have long shot be your wingman or rio and have other people fight with and against you.

Former 493rd FS pilot, F-15C. A F-15 is almost always at greater advantage the higher it is for two reasons. A 120 launched from 30k just goes farther than one launched at 10k because gravity for vs against. Second, F-15 wings and control surfaces catch air way better than most other jets. Fighting a Viper at angels 10 is a death sentence while anything above 25-30 is an absolute turkey shoot. Not sure if this flight sim correctly models or translates this. Ask any brit or french pilot whats its like trying to attack a four-ship LAB of Lakenheath F-15Cs . We can bulldoze an entire patch of sky while eating a sandwich, no g-strain required.

@@hphp31416 That's not always possible. Even fairly large air force only have about 1000 fighters where they are spread out across the country in various state of readiness. In a major conflict, this is wholly inadequate and you won't be replacing plane after plane for very long. There is also a time constraint involved with every mission and you can't just wait for a replacement to shoot down a bandit.

I found out doing some aerobatic flying that the 6th sense is actually developing a mental timer that's tracking events for you in your head. Eventually you just "sense" when it's time to dive, crank, jink, go cold, etc. (I'm guessing) just like knowing how hard to pull the sick back on an aerobatic plane to make a perfect verticle loop, hammerhead stall, snap roll, barrel roll etc. It's the mental equivalent of "muscle memory". Not to diminish you point though, GS has started to develop this at a really high level. Very informative and entertaining to study and watch.

My dad is a retired F-15 E pilot. The F-15 C is the one seater model with a light gray camo pattern. The F-15 E is the two seater where the co-pilot controls all the weapon systems, and its usually all dark gray in color.

I absolutely LOVED this video!! I was genuinely on the edge of my seat once things started getting hairy. You've done several 1v4 type engagements but I think this is the first of the "sneak him through" type of scenario. As far as my fuzzy brain can remember, anyway. I think it was that aspect that made it so tense for me cause every time you defended west I kept thinking, the Su-34 is getting through!!! I would absolutely love to see this scenario done with other planes as well, if it would make sense to do so. Super fun to watch!

I follow a handful of DCS playing channels, there is this Croatian dude called showtime112 who makes really fun historical reenactments and he's good at it, and also the super cap and his grim reapers, their Orkish approach on DCS is fun, and there's this channel, this one is like a flight school, it always puts up a cool lesson show case that's amazing to learn, and then there are weekends that we get to do something like " let's fight a Hind with Huey" see how it will turn out... also also the new short historical format is a nice touch, I hope we can see them in the future too... thank you for your exquisite work Teach.

The Su-34 is kind of sad. First flew in 1990, but wasn't built in any real number until after 2010. Poor thing was under development forever and it ended up inferior in most way to the F-15 that first flew 14 years earlier.

How can you compare the two? One is a glorified bomber, the other is a purebred fighter. Additionally, in the world of aviation, first flight dates mean very little.

@@Wunderwaffle You can compare them. The F-15 is roughly equal when on a strike mission when looking at weapons load and range. The F-15 hasn't been a "purebred fighter" for decades. Also, you not know what a F-15E is? The Su-34 has a much better cruise speed and better long term endurance because of pilot comfort and can haul a little more weight depending, but it's pretty underwhelming considering what it gives up to do that.

@@member5488 They have the same useful load, 50k lbs, even though the SE is 20,000lbs lighter. The Su is indeed sad. Not sure about the cruise being faster though. F-16XL would have been even better than the F-15SE. Given that ROC is all due to excess thrust you can tell how efficient it was as it outclimbs both the Su and the Eagle and on a lot less power. Harry Hillaker did a fabulous job of engineering there.

I've been thinking a lot about this contingency IRL, as I've been studying various and sundry IR-based targeting, and think all the expensive AESA radars might end up turned off to prevent the enemy from finding the aircraft - on both sides. If using terrain to mask attack formations, and AWACS are not available, a LOT of aircraft could end up in a sudden merge. It makes the Python-5 an important missile.
