are the large ventral fins not a sign that aircraft depicted in DCS is an MB-339CD? or are there other signs saying it isnt?
@jack18457 Жыл бұрын
@@spamsauzzage913 the ventral fins are common for all MB-339 variants; the most prominent visual feature of the MB-339CD is its longer and pointy nose, which houses the taxi light, while MB-339A or the MLU update mount the taxi light on the nose gear strut. The CDs also have a couple of fairing on the vertical stabilizer for RWR antennas Other few details to differentiate all MB-339 variants: - VOR antennas → MB-339A have them almost at the top of the vertical stabilizer, while MLU and CD have them in a lower position; - TACAN/IFF antennas → MB-339A have a small TACAN antenna just aft the canopy, while MLU and CD had this antenna moved futher back and its place is taken by a GPS antenna.

"On May 21, 1982, on the beaches of San Carlos, in the strait that divides Isla Soledad from Gran Malvina, the British Task Force carried out Operation Sutton, which consisted of the massive landing of 5,500 troops supported by fourteen ships, helicopters and fighter jets. At 10:30 a.m., the smoothly running operation is discovered from the air. A speedy Argentine Aermacchi 339 piloted by naval aviator Owen Crippa - sent on an armed reconnaissance mission - comes face to face with the invasion force. The story is well known: Crippa discovers a British helicopter that is nearby performing a suicidal task, attracting Exocet missiles towards his machine, and decides to attack it. The Argentine pilot, flying low to avoid detection by enemy radars, ascends to shoot at the helicopter hovering above him. As he gains height and passes a hill, he comes across an imposing image: he manages to see, in all its splendor, the enemy deployment in full landing operation. He abandons the attack on the helicopter and dives alone, with no other backup than his skill as a pilot. He picks a target, a Type 22 frigate which turns out to be HMS Argonaut. It opens fire with its 30 mm cannons, a weapon similar to those carried by the Sea Harriers. After spraying the ship with his shots, he fires eight 75mm Zuni rockets into a salvo against the structure of the frigate. Crippa wishes to deal a heavy blow to the command bridge, antennas, radars and knock her out. Some rockets achieve their mission, the ship is damaged and three crew members are injured in various ways" Amazing content! Love this channel!

As a matter of fact, in the Falklands war (21 of May 1982) a dude named Lt. Owen Crippa from the argentinian airforce hit a ship with guns and rockets with one of those, wounding 3 brits on the bridge and knocking out the radar. He flew right past a couple of ships, so close that they could not shoot him because of the risk of FF, he even dodged a few missiles (Seacats aparently) that day in that machine and made it back home. Pretty ballsy!

I'm really looking forwards to the 339. I fly it a lot in flight simulator and it looks like the 339 is getting some new high drag bombs which might be really fun to use. I've gotten into more cold war style flying but I find actually hitting anything is a challenge. Hopefully with loads of high drag bombs I might be able to reliably hit at least one thing per sortie! I'd personally warn against it being a "Beginner" module though. It's going to be a very good module to learn how to fly "Properly" with, using radio navigation instruments, no fly by wire or ballistics computers etc. But in DCS I'd worry it is a bit too limited to have enough fun that someone sticks with DCS. Something a bit more complicated but also makes the simple things easy, like the F18, F16 or even the harrier, would be a better first module choice imo. They give a really good feel for what DCS is capable of and if you're not good at flying or combat you can still get that "Top Gun feeling" with only a minimal amount of effort. But, once you've had a play with those and realise you're flying a computer and want something a bit more visceral where you have to work a lot harder to blow stuff up and you get satisfaction in that rather than what can end up being a more sterile experience in the 4th gen jets, that's where this jet is really going to shine I think. I hope it ends up on the Cold War server because it'll make for a fun little light strike fighter.
