You're glowing here ☺️ You didn't need the foundation 😉 I had EXACTLY the same sensation when I was vegan and cooking mince for my dog and did EXACTLY the same thing and felt EXACTLY the same as you did, including the shame 🙏🏼 xx

I’m vegan and I relate to what you say about hiding the way you eat for a period of time following a big change. Coming from a heavily meat-based diet and family, it was pretty embarrassing/shaming to come out about being vegan. It leads me to believe I need to respect everyone’s choices, regardless of their diet. We are all doing the best we can. Still appreciating your videos 😊

Speaking of dog food, I have a Pomeranian that was having major skin issues. He looked like a squirrel with mange!! 😖 I made his dog food for quite a while - called it MuttLoaf! 😄 It was better for him than any store-bought kibble and I'm talking expen$ive high end dog foods. But I learned that grocery store beef, or even grass-fed beef is not healthy for dogs. They need meat that still contains ground up bones and organs in order to meet (no pun intended 😊) their nutrient requirenents. It sbould also be raw. My Pom gets raw ground duck, rabbit, occassionally beef, and lately a mix of chicken that has veggies and berries included. Chicken is one of the meats that causes him to start itching so he gets it only as a treat, but since changing his diet to raw ground meats, his health and skin are excellent. He's 15 and acts like a puppy, running all over the place! OH!! One other thing I should mention. It's often said to give your dogs raw eggs for their coats. My dog can not tolerate eggs at all, raw or cooked. He pukes them up almost immediately. Hope this helps in some way with your furbaby.

Love this! I just found you from a video you made 3 years ago and I was seeing all your vegan videos and I was so sad because I know how harmful that diet can be and then I saw this recent upload and you’re eating meat!!! So excited for you! Way to go for listening to your body, girl!!! 💛💛

When I found out that iron is so much more bioavailable from meat, it changed my life. Turns out, most nutrients are more bioavailable from meat! I appreciated this video as its almost exactly how I deconstructed from restrictive veganism. ❤️

Yes I've been vegan for about 6 months now. There is a problem for me though in that occasionally I go bouts where I don't or can't eat very much (not due to veganism) and so I am going days with being under my calories because I just can't eat enough. So I'm going back to eating fish, probably won't eat red meat or chicken though. I'll still mostly eat plant based because I know that plants are good for me since it did mostly fix the issue I went on the diet for but I'm not going to allow myself to starve anymore.

that is because plant iron is just heavy metal Fe Vs C34H32FeN4O4

I've been both, and honestly, I felt much better as a high raw vegan but the willpower is not there, especially in winter. We're doing keto right now but once the weather warms up, I'll transition back to a plant-based diet.

My wife had heavy painful periods for years on a vegetarian diet. She had never eaten meat of fish. She had anemia and losing hair. The iron tablets were not working. Started eating meat and also liver once a week and extra around her period time. No more heavy painful periods everything normalized.

100% agree! Being 100% vegan/plant based isn’t the only way and I wish people would appreciate the 80% and 90% (even 10%) plant based diets more than just telling them they’re not good enough
@christina74543 жыл бұрын
The shame is so real. I started getting really intense meat cravings nearly 6 years into vegetarian and when I gave in I would only eat it in secret for a while, even though no one around me was veggie or vegan. I only fully embraced being omni again when I went on my gap year abroad that year because no one knew about my vegetarianism.
@pinkhope843 жыл бұрын
Thats me at the Moment. I don’t eat meat but sausages or cold cuts, which of course are made out of meat. I don’t wanna tell anyone because i eat it rarely and i just don’t have to eat it because i am omni again and nobody would understand that i don’t eat if i am invited. I enjoy but just when i want to and not out of social pressure 😒

I don't talk about this often (probably because of shame), but there was a brief period where I ate meat. I've mentioned this in past comments - but I've been vegetarian/vegan for over 12 years. I became vegan during the height of my ED and it became a very unhealthy diet for me. I ended up, at some point years ago, eating meat again. It didn't last long, and ultimately I transitioned back to veganism. I ended up transitioning AGAIN to vegetarianism around 3 years ago because I realized that I don't want to eat animals, but I need to have some flexibility for my ED recovery and mental health. I'm now at peace with my diet for the first time in over a decade. All that is to say, that we're all just figuring our shit out. You may decide to change your diet again, or you may not. You may, as you said, focus on non-food ways to make a positive impact. Life isn't black and white.

I don’t know why vegetarians and vegans get so shocked and flabbergasted when this happens. They act like it’s breathtaking and it isn’t common among people who try to embrace vegetarian/vegan lifestyles. At least in the United States, both regular vegetarianism and vegan-vegetarianism has always had a high turn over rate. *According to the most recent statistics we have from vegetarian organization research:* •86% (43/50) of vegetarians eventually lapse on their commitment to vegetarianism and return to eating meat &/or seafood •70% (7/10) of vegans lapse on their commitment to vegetarianism and return to eating meat and/or seafood. Of the remaining 30% it’s unknown how many maintain committed to a vegetarian diet but lapse on their commitment to Veganism by reintroducing things like eggs, dairy products & honey into their diet but is obviously not 0% so I think it’s safe to say a minimum of 75% (3/4) of vegans lapse in one way or another Those definitely aren’t small majorities. So it’s THE NORM for meat abstainers to get overwhelmed or impulsive at some point and up lapsing on their commitment. It’s not the norm (yet) for most vegetarians/vegans to maintain enough self restraint for their entire lives. BTW The same statistics say a large portion would want to give their former meatless diet another chance in the future - which just proves progress is usually is not a linear journey. I’ve been a a very strict pescetarian who never cheats for years and I don’t have any plans to return to Redmeat or poultry. However if It’s logical to extrapolate the vegetarian/vegan statistics onto pescetarian diets there’s a fair chance there will be some bumps in the road for me eventually. So if I end lapsing that doesn’t mean my I can’t one day embrace my former commitment again.

@@ivanamurphy6917 Just egg is not the same as actual egg (obviously). But it is not comparable at all. Just look at this ingredient list: Water, Mung Bean Protein Isolate, Expeller-Pressed Canola Oil, Contains less than 2% of Dehydrated Onion, Gellan Gum, Natural Carrot Extractives (color), Natural Flavors, Natural Turmeric Extractives (color), Potassium Citrate, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Sugar, Tapioca Syrup, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, Transglutaminase, Nisin ... SO many ingredients, of which the third one is canola oil, one of the most unhealthy "foods". (actually an industrial oil, look into the history) on top of that it is in a single use plastic container, expensive and harms your health. Where eggs are inexpensive and one of THE healthiest foods you can eat. The shells and even the boxes are bio degradable, and you can get the best quality at local farms, farmer markets or back yard hens that can roam around and eat bugs (they LOVE bugs) Don't listen to the vegan propaganda. Enjoy your eggs with the yolks soft :)

You know it's not a horrible thing, everyone needs to make their own choices. As a professional cook we know how to feed ourselves sometimes our bodies just don't work. I've been trying to go Vegan even Vegetarian and I know all about mixing the vit c with the iron to absorb it. But my body just won't. So my iron levels are so low my hair is falling out and nails ridged and peeling and this was after six months. My Dr put me on heavy iron pills and I'm trying to incorporate more meat. I do crave it. So I'm doing what I have to do. I try to still eat plant based but I want to be healthy. Good luck on your journey.

You’ll be alright most likely. I was vegetarian since birth (I’m 18) and recently started eating meat. I just went slow with it and didn’t eat anything deep fried or fatty, and started with very small portions, and my digestion has been just fine other than a bit more heartburn. Maybe start with dairy and eggs first? And the first meat things I incorporated were ramen (processed, but no off putting textures) and bacon bits (from my college’s salad bar, not from a jar since those usually tend not to be real bacon). And my favorite way to make eggs is either scrambled, over easy, or over medium and on a sandwich. Good luck! Edit: Also, your mind has a lot to do with your physical reactions. Try not to worry about getting sick. It was a big worry for me too but I’m glad I got past it because it was so worth it.
