The BBC has issued a statement that they were told about it last November when he was charged. Their argument is that he hadn't been convicted so they couldn't do anything. BUT they could have NOT given him a pay rise, and as he was off sick they could have gone through the process of terminating his employment. That's legally possible if someone is unable to work. Its all unusual behaviour by an employer.
