We were alone in this room at the Ace Hotel New York. He flew in, played this song on a beautiful Martin and after a few beers and tequila shots down at the bar, he got up and floated out the door.
The whole thing was a bit surreal. The only proof being this recording.

Dallas is my favorite artist of all time, by a huge margin. His melodies, voice and lyrics have gotten me through a lot over the years. However, I really miss his acoustic sound on his albums. "City and Colour" has gotten away from that unfortunately and have more of an electric sound with more band components which has taken away from the raw acoustic sound. I still love everything he does but when he strips away all the other sounds that the band brings and just plays his acoustic it resonates more with me. This stripped down version is so much better than the studio/album version. I do respect that he is evolving as an artist but RECORD MORE ACOUSTIC DALLAS!!!!! Just my humble opinion.

+SilentBobVG - I dunno .... I tried dropping both high E and low E and the song doesn't sound right. So unless I'm missing something, the song sounds right simply dropping the high E to a D. Dallas uses this tuning (and other variations of the DADGAD tuning) quite a bit in his songs. Gotta love those sympathetic string tones.

I just heard this song for the first time today, this version on Siriusxm's radio station channel 14 The Coffee House and it blew my mind while I was driving from Salt Lake City, Utah going to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and I heard this song some where on I-39 North going through Pocatello, Idaho and the scenery combined with this amazing acoustic is a memory I will never forget. The funny part about all of this, was I was visiting a girl (hopefully my girlfriend one day) in Salt Lake City and I came from Ft Worth, Texas to see her and when I was driving to Wyoming to fly back to Texas this music felt like it was just singing my life away, even though I'm the one who was leaving but I couldn't get that feeling out of my mind of her, thinking of me as her lover and for me to come back to her. Anyways, I really loved this song, spent about 1 hour looking for it and glad I found it. Cheers Everyone, have a good year!!
