True that. We have plenty of husky parents that come to our local dog park and they always say the same thing. There are a few German Shepards that are cats deep down.

@MolotovKilljoy I have one each and while the GSD likes to be near us, at all times, the husky will jump into our laps, crawl between hubs and I in bed, wriggle himself between me and the arm of thr sofa, he even would perch on thr back (like a cat!!) before we got thr new one! Now the cushions are too squishy for him to do that, there's not enough support which then triggers a tantrum when he wants to perch and can't. After 8mth he still angry about the new couch 🤣

That kitten looks exactly like my kitten Blondie. They could be twins. My kitten took to me very quickly. She and 4 of her sister were feral kittens born in my backyard. My husband and i captured them all, and they were all so cute we decided to keep them all. We actually found 7, but we found two loving homes for them.

God bless you both for rescuing Simba and giving him so much love. Cats do not always fancy expensive toys. Try giving her some cardboard box, ping pong balls. My cats also love the feather toys and coi tube/tunnel. Even a supermarket receipt scrutched into a ball to play fetch with. All 4 of my rescued cats knows how to play fetch. Rry it with the crunched up receipt...make sure it's small enough for him to grab hold of it. Throw and you will see him play eith it...soon enough when he likes it, he will bring it back to you to throw again just like dogs. Although cats need to be in the mood :) Cats are also smart and the more you speak to them in repetitive simple phrase he will learn quickly. eg. When you kiss him, say kiss kiss....he will learn what it means. He will also communicate so you have to learn his language and signals too.

Kittens need kitten food not full grown cat food because kittens have different nutritional needs. When you can get kitten food. At about six months to a year you can feed them adult cat food. Doesn’t matter if the kitten likes it. Your kitten doesn’t know about his different nutritional needs. If you have a Vet for your dog I’m sure your Vet also does cats so when you’re able you can get a Vet check. Go find a regular book about cat care which helps. I’ve had cats since 1980. Have my first pair.

I have a similar story. Growing up we were only dog people my whole life, mostly because we were allergic to cats. Then my brother brought home a kitten to pet-sit for his friend. Cut to 2 weeks later and this girl tells him we can just "leave her in a parking lot." We were floored, and my brother broke off the friendship specifically because of the cruelty to even suggest that. We've never been those people to do that to an innocent animal, and I have no respect for ppl who do. We had to decide whether we could keep her or take her to a no-kill shelter. We fell in love with her (despite our allergies), and we inadvertently found out how awesome cats really are.

Remember, if you're new to being a cat parent: When you lose your cat in the house that first day, that means they're comfortable enough to have traveled out of the safe zone! Sure, they might be hiding in a new, singular location for a bit, but it's a good thing they left their safe zone at all! Don't be worried, just manage things like cables, cords, strings they can get hung up in.

'Cuteness aggression' is a great expression. I'm like that with our cats. While my husband "respects their boundaries", I want to hug, snuggle, pet and give kisses. They really only want to be around me when I'm lying down. Even that may only be because I radiate a lot of body heat when I'm sleeping / sleepy.

She might be a Siamese. I have a cat I got from a shelter who has similar coloring and blue eyes. I did the research, and found out he’s (Desmond) a Blue Lynx Point Siamese. Yes, purebred animals do end up in shelters. He was a kitten when I got him and cream colored like Simba. The parts with color get darker as they get older, and how dark they get depends on the climate. I was living in Michigan and my Desmond turned a beautiful cream and brown color. It’s something to look into and doing the research on - just for the heck of it!

I had a blue point (and a lilac point) Siamese when I was younger and she was the spitting image of Simba. He was comfortable with his dad when young as he could both feel and hear the heartbeat, which was calming. Many cats don’t like desktop computers as they emit high frequencies that we can’t detect but is annoying for them. Never attempt to handle raw meat in their presence and they’ll often want to ride on your shoulder. Be ready for sneak attacks when entering rooms. If I snored, I’d awaken to them attempting to remove my tongue. Beware!
