for those of us less skilled, Id suggest using a needle nose pliers in placing the spring. theres not alot of room to work with, and a needle nose, makes it just a bit roomier.

To fix it, try these steps: Check for any visible damage or wear on the kickstart mechanism and gear. Lubricate the mechanism and gear with high-quality grease. If you have a gy6 scooter the kick starter is good for nothing totally a bad design and yes that can keep the bike from not starting

Hello Gareth Ryan sometime that can happen when you remove kickstart harm spray a little wd40 silicone around the shaft sometime that help

I already paid $100 for mine to get repaired. Ive ridden it for 4 weeks and the bushing behind has failed which has lead to a fucked kick starter again. I've spent hours trying to put the spring on and haven't been able to do it. I think its because I havent pulled the gold/green spring cover off mine. The reason I havent done that is because i dont think I can get the nut for the clutch cyclinder off. All i have is battery impact driver and a breaker bar but trying to take the nut off spins the cylinder.

hell, you don't even need a starter, just run that fucker down a ways and pop it into gear, if its a geared bike.

Thanks. I was curious because my kickstart lever was so stuck, I forced it by hard kicking it & the lever stripped. Now it’s hanging. Going to replace the lever and the gear once I open it up tomorrow
