It never occurred to me to start winding through the top hole. Genius idea! I’ll be doing that from now on - thank you!!!

Thank you Ford. I have been cross stitching since 1972 and have always used bobbins but never thought of starting the winding thru the hole. That is a hugh help. Never too old to learn.

I'd love to see a video talking about what got you interested in cross stitch. For several years there, needle crafts seemed to be becoming a thing of the past. But now such interests are making a major comeback! I am amazed and intrigued by how many videos i see of men crocheting, embroidery, sewing, and doing cross stitch! Thank you for this video!

Thanks Ford for another informative video. I store my floss the same as you, (and that’s because I learned it from you lol). Thank you for sharing your ways with us.

I learned that trick of unwinding the skein last month and it is a life saver. I have my dmc on bobbins my Sullivan on stitch bows and my colorworks in money envelopes and labeled. Thanks for the video!

Great video. I divide my DMC skein onto two bobbins also have a blank bobbin with number at the top and in pencil write the kit I put the floss in and if I have extra skeins. I only have 4 projects kitted at a time. Just love knowing someone else uses bobbins.

Thanks, Ford, this was very handy! I'm not good at winding floss by hand but I'm going to try a couple of tips you demonstrated. Question about your Sharpie marker. Do you ever have issues with the ink rubbing off the bobbin? And if not, could you let us know whether there's a particular kind of Sharpie that works for you? (I have no idea whether there are different formulations although I do go for the fineliner tip.)

Thank you for this video, Ford. Like you, I’ve tried the Floss Away bags and didn’t get on with them! Found they took up too much space although I could see they work for some people. I use bobbins and find they are more space saving and aesthetically pleasing to store. I’ve had one or two skeins go rogue when bobbinating, so I’ll be using your technique of wrapping them round my wrist if I get any further issues!

I use floss bows but see very few videos on them. I like them since you don’t have to wind them. Have you used them before or know anyone that does?

Question for you! Once you’ve bobbinated a skein, how do you keep inventory of your floss? Do you use a digital system at all?
@CaterpillarCrossStitch29 күн бұрын
Not sure how Ford does it but a spreadsheet would be a good way to do it.
@suzanne.xstitchesАй бұрын
I cut my floss into 8 skeins before bobbinating. I find doing so gives me a length pretty close to the length that Classic Colorworks gives and then I don't have to guess at a length at a later time.
