I just wanted to mention a couple things about the Hanayama puzzles that I love so much. The Nut puzzle is now called the Nut Case puzzle and has the words "nut" and "case" engraved on the center nuts. The Seabream is also called the Trout, and the puzzle can be found under both names on Amazon. I didn't see the Jigsaw puzzle on the table, but it is also called the Equa. There are 2 versions of the Key puzzle, the original seen here, and an "updated" version of it. However, Key 2 should be avoided due to poor material durability causing the pieces to separate very easily after solving it just a few times. A few more Hanayama puzzles that look spectacular like the Radix are the Twist, H&H, and Ring 2.

The Violin is the best looking in my opinion. For solving, my favourite is the Cylinder, which I'd suggest getting, it's brilliant. There's loads here that I haven't got yet, they're now on the list! Thanks.
@matthewnyegard84144 жыл бұрын
Cylinder is my current favorite cause it's basically just chance to get it apart because of no way of knowing from the outside as how to take it apart, so how long it takes will be random. Putting it together is easy, except the one move I always struggle to execute. The small size as well does great for carrying anywhere.
@theplatitudefromouterspace16863 жыл бұрын
@@matthewnyegard8414 Actually, there is a technique to solving the cylinder, it takes me roughly the same amount of time, everytime. I kind of wish I didn't know, although I still enjoy solving it.
@matthewnyegard84143 жыл бұрын
@@theplatitudefromouterspace1686 Yeah I eventually figured out how it works and sometimes it would take hardly 5 minutes to come undone. I can never truly understand anything, but I understand it enough to know what is happening. I figured this out like, a year ago or so, I kind of stopped with Hanayama though. Nonetheless it's my favorite because of the easy transport and it's mechanic to solving it.

Ahh nice, my three favourites are among them (Marble, Baroq and Coil) Another rather easy one that i like a lot is Cast Donut. it's really not hard, but what i like about it is that it can be solved by logically following the visual cues. If you want a truly evil one, try Cast Equa. I'm not going to touch that one ever again after having painstakingly assembled it again.

Hello, thank you for the video. Unfortunately, a lot of it is out of focus, and it would be nice if you'd show at least a tiny bit of movement on these puzzles - such as opening the Marble puzzle to show the beautiful "marble" in the middle of the two framing elements. Alternatively, you might intercut between their solved and unsolved version - showing the original form first, then the fully separated one as well. That would give the viewers opportunity to appreciate the truly beautiful design. Without that motion or solution, it is not as easy to see "what the fuzz is about". Furthermore, about midway through, you started mentioning the difficulty, but that was already after you went through Enigma (level 6 - hardest) and ABC (one of the easiest). I'm writing these criticisms to inspire you for your future videos, not to somehow belittle you. Cheers!

I'm interested in watching this video but when I started to do so it appeared that the solutions were going to be shown so I stopped the video. Are the solves actually shown? I plan to buy some of these Hanayama puzzles but don't want to see the solutions!
@tony.conrad7 жыл бұрын
Nope, there weren't any solutions shown. Have fun with the puzzles! They're extremely interesting.

I'm grappling with Enigma (Level 6) at work and Vortex (Level 5) at home. Hanayama has done an outstanding job with these puzzles! I prefer cast puzzles vs wire puzzles and these have the perfect feel.

The enigma was designed (not by Nobuyuki Yoshigahara, but) by Eldon Vaughn, who I'm guessing is turning in his grave since he passed away April 2015.
@GabrielMPF8 жыл бұрын
+Hannes Voites Not exactly correct. The original design is indeed by Vaughn, patented in 1975, but Nob redesigned it in 2004 to be introduced in the Cast Series as you see it here.
@hannesvoites44438 жыл бұрын
oh cool I've never seen that patent, thanks. I don't know how much the shape change affect the solve though.
@GabrielMPF8 жыл бұрын
I would have to try the original and see. The concept is probably the same, though.
@hannesvoites44438 жыл бұрын
Have you seen the eljo games variant? Seems like halfway between the original and hanayama.
@GabrielMPF8 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's made from plastic. Looks like it's similar to the Hanayama version.

When it comes to taking it apart. Which Enigma was the longest of all me puzzles to take apart, but Quartet was so difficult to reassemble that I needed a video and still couldn't follow even then. In the end though the puzzle which was so hard that I couldn't take apart not reassemble with out a video, so far is Trinity.
