@justacinnamonbun86583 жыл бұрын
@@youcancallmemaster2680 I only partially agree. Hybrid vehicles, CVTs and FWD have their places, and are here to stay. Don't forget FWD is the most popular drive train at least in the United States and has been for a very long time. It all depends on what you need/what you're looking for. A box truck that's empty will easily get stuck in 8 inches of snow. A FWD SUV will have a much easier time. Looking at the Toyota Highlander, the 2021 is rated to tow 5,000 lbs. either FWD or AWD. All that being said, I do agree that using a Hybrid drive train on a truck is a little strange but don't forget trucks used to be electric a long time ago. Electric motors give you full torque on circuit closing. My problem is that these are Ford products and while I may buy an F-150 if I needed one, I'm not too sure about anything else Ford makes. I would rather buy a Hybrid truck from Toyota but there must be a reason why they haven't made a Hybrid version of either the Tacoma or the Tundra that I'm aware of.

Currently looking at an Escape and was excited to read (presumably correct) the Maverick was built on the Escape platform. The only issue is - Why didn't Ford include AWD on the hybrid like on the Escape - not for offroad, but safer winter driving. Love the fact that can do Home Depot/Costco runs with large bulky purchases - not even having to rip 4x8 sheets to transport like in the Escape like I did this week in my current SUV. The 2.0L, while nice, has a major shortcoming that rules it out. The unspoken advantage of the hybrid is that it is one of a decreasing number of cars that can be towed 4 wheels down behind an RV. Coupled with being a relatively light vehicle around 3500 lbs, that is huge! Both FWD and AWD Escape hybrids are approved...but none of the other powertrains. For a truck, would need to move up to a 4200lb and more capable Ranger 4x4 (not FWD) for RV towing. The truck offers so much more than the SUV but the lack of AWD makes it a difficult decision.
