Yes! I've needed to drink about that amount when I was purging my bowels for colonoscopy. It was water mixed with a laxative, stuff I got from the healthcare. Anyway it's a horrendous amount. There might be some situations when that's needed, but outside of those, I can't ever imagine myself drinking that amount in one day. BTW it's funny when these wellness companies always tend to have something for detoxing and purifying, but I've actually done it.x) And can't believe any of their detox crap would actually work as well as stuff that's manufactured by pharmaceutical companies. Which is probably just fine, I can't imagine a total purge from time to time just for imaginary reasons would be healthy.

Not only absurd, also dangerous. Drinking too much is not an issue for most people, on the contrary, drinking too little is, so I think many people aren’t aware that it’s actually dangerous to drink too much. But it will lower the sodium in your blood (Hyponatremia) and can cause symptoms like nausea or even make you pass out, in some cases people even have died from that. Just pointing it out in case anyone thinks having to pee constantly is the worst that can happen.

It's very pro-anorexia kind of wording, isn't it? I can't tell you how many times I've heard (and admittedly said to myself) that food is for fuel and nothing else so it's not surprising that they would adopt that language for their mail order starvation diet.

My former partner & I had a cat who would meow into the void, especially when alone or while we were sleeping. As she got old, she would sometimes think she was alone, and start braying. She would also drag a pair of his socks out into the livingroom from the bedroom nearly everyday in the couple hours she was totally alone. I miss that fat cat 💔

The first story was really scary to me, my aunt passed away from drinking too much water in 2016. And ever since then, when I see people pushing to drink 1+ gallons of water, I’m just disgusted. Unless you are heavily working out constantly, please don’t drink that much water

I'm so sorry that happened, people need to know more about water poisoning!! I've gotten a mild case myself, and it really was very mild, but I was sick for over a day and felt terrible. don't drink if you aren't thirsty, and never more than a couple cups in an hour. (if you are heavily working out and need more fluids, drinking something with electrolytes like any sports drink is a lot safer, but still)

Water poisoning is quite possibly the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. The only other time I’ve felt I could very well die like I felt then is when I had the big C. It was terrifying because I didn’t know what was wrong with me (I didn’t think it could possibly be all the water I was drinking) but I knew something wasn’t right. I was so disoriented, which made it even worse.

I tend to be sensitive to kidney problems. They were relatively mild until a couple months ago when I had sepsis from a kidney infection. I came close to losing a kidney over that. One of the things my urologist impressed upon me was that I need to drink water (preferably only water or tea, no sodas or alcohol) but not to drink _too much_ water. I’m supposed to monitor the color of my urine and try to make sure it doesn’t get too dark or too pale. A lot of people think your urine is supposed to be as close to clear as possible, but very, very pale or clear urine is a sign of over hydration.

Omg. … ok I did the conversion and it’s 3.8 litres. That’s a lot. I drink a lot more than other people not by effort but just because I seem to be thirstier. (I have inflammation, which I think explains is, i do not have diabetes). I have discovered a lot of people drink (to me) shockingly little amounts of liquids, like 2 Coffees and one Snapple sized bottle of water a day, those people are who the non MLM water pushers are talking to. But more than 2 litres is so much. I guess that’s very roughly half a gallon. I did know a dog that overdrank water and could have killed himself. But that’s a dog. A crazy dog as well.

Optavia also says that they also say: Don't work out while being on this diet. They know that the calories are not enough to even move. I saw a call that they should even adjust their one "lean and green" meal a day when you do something like walking the dog or making a deep clean of the house... And what shocked me is that a fitness studio chain was sponsored by Optavia and with a training contract you get a discount for the first order. So terrible.

The juice plus story hearts my heart. I have some similar health issues and I can’t imagine not having my mom’s support when I was first diagnosed. Around the time I was diagnosed I had a friend in college whose parents were deep in juice plus, and he was convinced that taking the pills (which included a number of fruits and seeds I am allergic too) would cure my allergies and asthma because “it’s natural” and “how can you be allergic to something that comes out of the ground” and “you just need to fix your diet” (I was already on a very restrictive diet of mostly plain lean meats and vegetables)🙄 The ignorance and tunnel vision on health and wellness mlm folks is scary. Side note, it was nice to hear and see Zeke! I’m allergic to cats and I love cats, so it always makes me so happy to see your kitties. Please give them all the pets for me 🥰

My friend who is a MEDICAL DOCTOR but her sister (a retired RN) got into f’ing essential oils (I have allergic airway disease) and This DOCTOR has had her mind half taken over by this former well respected nurse who has gone insane and they tried to get me to use the anti allergy blend of EO… I need CLEAN AIR not purposely polluted air! You can’t breathe OIL! I especially can’t breathe any oil and react to all smells and the blend contained lavender to which I am specifically allergic

PS I am also very allergic to cats and love them and taking a steroid nasal spray daily has changed my whole life and I can now pet cats. (And then wash right after,’ or suffer a little, but no lung closing up or conjunctivitis).

I'm allergic to pets too. As I don't like taking antihistaminics (make me feel tired all the time), I just wash my hands (do you know that moment when you put your hands full of allergens on your face or some sensitive otger body part? Sure you know...) very regulary when I pet them and remove immediately the fur on my clothes. Can work for you if tou don't have a too bad allergy. 😊

Meanwhile, a good percentage of the population suffers from seasonal allergies. Isn't pollen "natural"? Others have allergic reactions to bee stings. Bees are "natural". A great many allergies are triggered by nature. And they can be deadly. ☹️

People die from "water intoxication"; what "too much" is varies from person to person, but when you hit the point where your hands, feet and/or lips are swollen and you feel tired or are cramping, you've had way too much.

Yes! When I took an anatomy and physiology class last year I learned that the average person really only needs about 1 liter of water a day to function and we also get water intake from food. Of course you could always have more than that but the 'gallon challenge' is unnecessary!

I went on a health kick last summer. I thought restricting calories, drink only water and lots of exercise was a great plan. I lost 35 pounds in under 3 months. I didn't realize I was eating less and drinking more. One day I was terribly thirsty and just kept gulping water. It was like no matter how much I drank I was still so thirsty. I don't remember much but I was taken by ambulance for water intoxication. My husband literally thought I had somehow been drugged with LSD bc of my crazed behavior. He started recording me while awaiting the ambulance (not to humiliate me but just in case I did something dangerous to him or myself). My gosh, when I viewed it (I asked to see it before he deleted it) I was shocked. At one point he had to wrestle Ajax/comet (powdered cleaner) from me bc I was trying to mix it with water. My crazed thinking was 'oh, it'll detox my body'. He cleaned all chemicals out of the bathroom and locked me in there so he could get our son to the neighbors for safety. That wasn't me, that person in that video was NOT ME. I can't explain it but it was like something took over my body. He had to call 911 three times bc they didn't think his call was urgent. Thankfully, the doctor I got listened to my husband and knew what questions to ask bc I was close to drowning. It was madness

The Optavia story breaks my heart. I struggle with disordered eating. I now work with a dietitian within my medical network. You can use medication, take classes, meet with certified dietitians. Help is out there. My PT went through Optavia, thankfully she quit. It’s just not a safe program.

This first story triggered me in the fact that I had very similar results. I did Optivia for 10 months and also got to within 10 lbs of my goal but my major side effect was hair loss. Since there is so low protein the body attacked itself and took from where it could. I’ve gained most of my weight back but am working with an actual nutritionist to lose weight in a healthy manner. Thank you for the kind words at the end of that story because it was something I also needed to hear.

The second story was very relatable for me. When I was growing up, my mom was a nurse and VERY into pseudoscientific remedies (which you think would conflict, yet I have met many nurses now who believe in pseudoscience). She didn't participate in MLMs, but she's very gullible and believed anything that was sold as a universal cure. When I was in high school, I got sick with food poisoning. I was throwing up and had diarrhea for 2 weeks, and she tried to fix me with all of her pseudoscience. I finally managed to convince her to take me to the doctor, and I ended up having to be hospitalized because I was so messed up. To this day I can't tell her about my actual health problems (I have fibromyalgia) because she will just try to "fix" me with things that have no scientific evidence. Anyway, my heart goes out to you.

Poor Zeke! Lol. My cat also throws a major fit if anyone in the family doesn’t follow their usual routine. If everyone isn’t in bed by 10:30 he starts singing the song of his people and trying to herd you towards the bedroom every time you stand up. My husband is on vacation this week and slept in this morning, and Gus had a fit when my husband didn’t get up to go to work at 6 this morning. Cats love routine. Some more than others. Zeke and my cat Gus seem to be on the “more” end of the spectrum, lol.

A year or two ago my husband and I were in Sam’s club. A lady came up and was asking if we had kids, blah blah blah. When I told her no, it wasn’t in our cards, she told me she used to have issues, but juice plus cured all her issues! I just thought of something! Remember fundraisers in elementary school, and how if you actually sold the right number you could actually get a pretty cool prize? Well even with my parents help I never came close to that. Even now I think it was pretty unattainable because you would have had to sell several hundred books or whatever it was. I tried reuniting with the manicurists I went to a few years ago before I moved. It was going to be easy with new work hours to see her. Oh, my!!! Juice Plus was pitched all through the appointment. In those past years we had become friends, and I knew her family. In the years between she lost her sweet mom to cancer. She tried to pull on heartstrings using her dear mother saying she wished she knew about JP earlier so maybe she could have saved her mom! If her mom's health had been better (implying that JP could do that) then maybe she wouldn't have developed cancer or would have been able to beat it. I had to stop going back for manicures. Shame because underneath all of that MLM is a sweet gal, or was.

I was saddened by the person who worried about being the one who ruined a family relationship by refusing to join a family member's MLM. Please don't take the burden of guilt for that, please realize it's not your fault. If a family member is so aggressive and insensitive as to try to force you into something you are clearly uncomfortable with...then the decline of the relationship is on THEIR head, not yours. Just hope and pray they realize eventually and can come out of it.

FUNNY MLM FAIL: this pst week two huns (I assume they were working in tandem cause they were mutual friends) in my inbox cold messaging me “I love your flowing hairstyle, but xyz would make it better, softer, shinier, flowier, blah blah.” I know they def didn’t look at my profile because for the last 3-4 years I’ve had short buzzed hair! 😂 I died laughing

The fat gram counters are without a doubt the most obsessed. A friend of mine counted every fat gram in absolutely everything she ate, going to a restaurant was a nightmare, because she would hound the waitress who knew nothing about it, she would progress to the manager/owner, and the final straw was when she ran straight into the kitchen so she could see how the food was actually prepared. She ended up losing her BF of many years, every friend, and ultimately became homeless . True story 100%

I think this was my favorte episode of this series because of Story 2. I won't go into details but I can relate to a lot of the author's experiences with her mother. I just want to say thank you to her for her vulnerability and sharing. I know how painful it is to delve into the memories that are encumbered with heavy memories and how that pain can lead to feelings that linger. If she ever sees this, thank you. And, thank you, Hannah for providing such a wonderful and safe platform for people to share their experiences.

I have had 2 friends do optvis. They have lost so much weight so quickly but actually, they have gained it back faster than they lost it. I have never seen people gain weigh so fast. My heart broke so much for them!

I worked at Dairy Queen as a manager for 9 months when I was 18 - made over $15,000 in those months - I was able to buy a car, get myself into an apartment, & I DIDNT lose the trust of my family, friends, children. $12,000 is not enough to lose your circle over. I don’t even think $120,000 is enough, but at least that would have given a reason as to why her mother was so awful!

Actually, tracking your food can be that simple without optavia. A lot of apps nowadays you can just scan the food barcode or tell it what you ate and it calculates everything for you.

Hey Hannah, as a person who was abused as a child, I really want to let you know how much I appreciate you focusing entirely on the victim's feelings in the Juice Plus story and not in any way trying to defend the mother. As much as I love your videos, one thing that has sometimes made it difficult for me to watch them were the handful of times where the emailer describes going through indefensible child abuse and you interjecting your reaction with comments about how you're "Not here to parent shame" and that we "Should understand the context around why the parent is doing this". The fact that you didn't say anything like that in this video tells me you've already learned this, but that kind of response to a person opening up about child abuse isn't helpful the way some people might think it is. Holding abusers accountable isn't "parent-shaming", it's enabling, and we shouldn't urge abuse victims to "understand why" they were abused.

Zeke’s musings remind me of what my cat Mowgli used to do and it’s bringing me to tears. i had to put him down last month and now the house is so quiet. i hated when he sang the songs of his people but i miss it so, so much. Zeke helps to fill that void
