my sister's kids got a little "grocery store" playset for christmas a few years ago, made of wooden shelves, flowery curtains, and a little register, very retro. We gave them bags of herbal tea, dry beans, dry pasta, little packs of smarties etc for their store, and some change. And then they had us come in and shop with little baskets, it was really fun, and I realized that I still love playing pretend as much as I did as a child. Will definitely try this!

I have the same with turquoise/aqua colours. I get caught in this tropical fantasy of luxurious vacation on a dreamy island, crystal clear waters and salty wavy hair (which in my mind clearly equals shiny blue-green eyeshadow 🤡), and it took me a long time to realize that a) no makeup product will ever give me the feeling I have when being on beach holidays and b) I hardly ever wear this colour as it doesn’t suit my lifestyle and I find it very difficult to incorporate in a wearable way 😅 I keep one loose pigment from Inglot in this mermaid shade, it’s fun to swatch and play with but to be honest I probably didn’t wear it on my eyes for like 3 years.

This is amazing. I frequently put stuff in my cart at Sephora and Ulta, and then just leave it in there and see if the want lessens. I also have a list going in my bullet journal of things I want. Both of these techniques help me not hit “buy now” or “purchase.” And eventually I either purchase or later, realize I don’t need it and remove it from cart. Also seeing the total at the bottom too is helpful, as makeup quickly adds up.

Keep it up. I'm on a budget and I haven't broken it yet nor will I. It really is helping me think more critically about what makeup I want to buy and when. There was a palette I thought about getting in March and I saw the price and that didn't include shipping (which shipping is included in my budget) and I know the pans are bigger than I want and also that some of the shades I really don't want and that really was a great way to talk myself out of it. My budget goes for more than makeup and I want to be even smarter about what makeup I buy than I already am. I may roll over some of my budget for Black Friday if there is anything I may want to buy then. After your no-buy, you may want to consider the same thing as budget like Hannah did after her no-buy. You'll know what step you need to take for yourself next.

I love this. I add things that I think I might want to my favorites (wishlist) instead of my cart because if it’s in the cart they send me emails and notifications that I have something in my cart; but that doesn’t happen if it’s put onto my favorites list. Once it’s there I walk away. If I find myself coming back to it often then it might be a worthy purchase, but more often than not, I simply forget about it.

The search for a "perfect" product seems to be a rabbit hole for beauty consumers (myself included). The bummer, especially if you're trying to be a conscious consumer, is the amount of waste created bc I've got similar products, which will likely expire before I'm able to use them up. I've also taken to finding videos on products I own to remind myself of the hype I felt when I first became interested in it.

I started doing something similar at the end of last year, because I realised that it's often the feeling of a certain product I want and not the product itself. So I rather shop my stash with pictures for reference than buy the new thing. Of course this took me a long time and self reflection but I did get here. I recently went through my makeup collection and started selling and getting rid of tons of make up that's just there to add number, and I depoted palletes that I'm only keeping for certain shades. Now I have a system, palletes that I love and sparks loads of joy even when I just look at them and know that they're there and a collections of singles that I've been using to dupe the vibe of palettes that I want and would have bought without hesitation in the past. Thank you for showing me the way. Now not only makeups, my spending habit in general is taking a turn for the better. I have a great feeling about this journey that I just started.

Almost 54 here, and love the rose Inc under my eyes. I’ve always had crepey lids, and now all the aging and perimenopausal skin along with it, and what I’ve found is that it needs to be using sparingly. I’m not going to say it works for everyone, but many vloggers I’ve watched use it always use too much, and those are the ones that end up not liking it. Many comment on the emolliency, but my uber-dry skin loves it. For example, I put one swipe on the back of my hand, dab it from there, and that covers very close to half of my face(!!!)

I completely agree. I have both concealers and am 62; the Kosas is the only one I use on my under eyes.

this is SUCH a good reminder to me-I always forget that for many people, concealer is specifically an under-eye makeup, and many cult classic concealers are that way because they are great at under-eye concealing. For me, that's basically the one thing I don't need concealer to do (yet). I will file this away to discuss in a future video!

I would love to see this type of video again! So smart and I did it too after watching. Emptied out all the things in my “cart” after feeling satisfied by what I have currently!

This was a fantastic experiment! You are starting a video theme others will be doing over the months to come. Good job🌸

Love this kind of video (and all your content!). You put into words so many cycles/fantasies/thought processes I have when it comes to wanting and buying new products, and it’s been so illuminating and healing for me! Thank you!

This is genius. I thought I commented on the Patreon video, but it doesn't seem to be there. Probably user error. Anyway great idea. I wanted to tell you I bought a Baaba sweater, I absolutely love it, and I am tempted to buy another, but on a strict clothing budget. I do scroll through though looking at them. Thanks again for your wonderful content
