after living in new orleans for 3 years i can verify that everything he said in this set is completely true. one time during mardi gras me and my friends were dancing in the street, stopping traffic, and this guy got pissed and got out of his car to come fight us. a cop jumped in and the cop was on our side! he yelled at the guy to get back in his car and the cop gave me a fist bump. not saying cops in nola are great, just that they live there and they know whats up.

I had someone say something similar to me about rats at one of the restaurants in Five Points in Columbia, SC. We saw a rat run into the restaurant from the floor and into the kitchen. We told the server, and he was like "yeah, these buildings are old. All the buildings down here have rats." I immediately thought of this bit.

I didn't even know it was illegal to drink on the street until 21. I got a beer from a tavern across the street from a coffee shop, I didn't like the tavern so I took my beer to the coffee shop and sat at a table and started looking at my phone minding my business and a waitress from the tavern came across the street and came inside of the coffee shop just to take my beer away, she scrambled out the door with my beer before I even finished saying "What are you doing?!" A buddy later described that to me, just another ludicrous law.

Mello Jake well, smoking in public and open carrying ARE a danger to public safety though, I'm in full agreement on that. The thing about alcohol in public is that it SHOULDN'T be an issue - if people could actually handle themselves, but a certain percentage of people get sloppy drunk and become a danger to themselves and others, ruining it for everyone. That's what sucks about it, because I know for me personally, and most of the people I know, we would be able to walk around with a drink and not cause any trouble at all. But there are just as many people out there that would start fights, walk into oncoming traffic, put others in danger in various ways. I'm not saying that's the way it should be, I hate it as much as you do. It's just the way it is.

I was in New Orleans a couple weeks ago, partying on the street, waiting for a parade to come by. Hundreds of people lined the streets drinking and partying together. I walked over to a cop sitting in his car to ask if he knew when the parade was coming. He was drinking a High Life tall boy in a brown bag, in his cruiser. He looked at me and said ‘hopefully soon, I’m ready to dance!’ I was like wtf and cheersed him. Later I saw him dancing with women by his cruiser as the parade came thru.
