Yeah, a good man. Throwing his LIFE away for a stranger he just met who would never consider doing the same for him... He's a real hero, and a real chump. Too bad she chose the wrong man and then had to throw another mans life away, instead of just leaving... What a fucking waste.

Southern women are raised to understand what "wait in the truck" means. Even without seeing the stories from the survivors, we all know the justice system does not protect them. The choice was his and he was okay with. Justice was served. Also I've heard that a friend of Hardy's was in a similar situation in Alabama and got 20 years. Regardless of peoples feelings on the matter it is a conversation that needs to be had. And DV victims (men and women) and children need to be protected. Letting them down is unacceptible. If they dont want this to happen they need to step up.

In country boy vernacular "Wait in the truck" translates as "I need to handle something and I don't want you to see it being done." Sometimes real men must unleash the monster inside us, we must be meaner than evil. We don't want you to see that side of us, we don't want you to fear that side of us so we tell you to ''wait in the truck" As she is on the stand testifying she says "I don't know if he's an angel because angels don't do what he did" I would submit that he was both a guardian as well as an avenging angel. When the system, when society fails to protect those weakest among us it is left to rough men standing outside the rule of law to do what is necessary to preserve the peace, protect the innocent, and return civility. Some call this "vigilante justice" but for some the vigilante is the only hope to obtain justice. Here is what I saw in the video: A drifter, a loner, a ex'con (Based on the prison tats) finds a gal who has been beaten, he knows the signs he's seen them in the past in a woman he holds dear. He makes the decision to help her, the only help he knows is violence. He has been to prison and knows he can do the time. He makes the choice to remove her from her prison, a prison of abuse and pain, he frees her.

First thanks Penny 'from Heaven' Headline for this donation request. I mentioned it in a comment several months ago when it first came out but did not request because I thought it was too new. Secondly, while I understand what and why he did it, I believe that while he freed her from the physical abuse she now must live with a world of guilt due to the fact that the situation she was in, by no fault of her own, essentially ruined this young man's life. That could be just me though, I have seen several reactions to this song and no one has mentioned it. Thirdly Hardy is a very uneven artist IMO. While I like some of his stuff there is an equal amountbthat into not like at all. Thanks again Penny for the request and Don for the reaction.---#UTRCM

I believe that Hardy's character lost someone he loved to domestic violence. He had just met her but instantly decided that her only chance was if the b*stard was dead.

To add to the other comments... he was not a bad man, he was not an evil man... perhaps he grew up in a house of abuse.... as he knew what had happened to her without asking... he was a man who saw a need, saw an evil and acted on that need and evil. He was a man of faith (evidenced by the court scene bridge (Oh Lord have mercy on me was not asked to the court system... it was a plea to God) and visibly evidenced by the cross hanging on his rear view mirror... was his action legal, obviously not based on the trial, was it morally just.... that is up to each individual for you cannot legislate morality... but for every victim of DV, he would be an answered prayer... and for every man... the story forces the question... "what would I do?" I recently picked up on another aspect of the acting...you can see the transfer of 'weight' from the weight on her as a DV victim... to him, as the reality of what he did sank in looking at the body on the floor... she has her weight lifted as she no longer has to live that life... and the weight of the decision he made settles onto his shoulders, heart and mind.

Thanks Don. This song has blown up all over internet I watched one reaction and all these other reacters come out of the wood work . So watched a few a good decussion s about when to step in and how much and chivalry. Some of these ladies that say they felt like this type of reaction was like savior . Someone standing up for them . Some say he went to far. After hearing different reactions I am not sure what to think . I still think that sometimes theres seems no where else to go and other times to get help. I do however commend him in wanting to stand up for the lady. I think in song they wanted they wanted to take it to a extreme to get the message out about domestic violence . They both comment about the song that they hope it gives people a platform in which to in which to speak out. I wanted to see your response to this and I think it was a very good one thanks Don . They have one a few awards on this and Hardy on his song writing he written many songs for many country artists and sings both rock and country .

It is a tough story! I cringe at vigilantism, because sometimes an innocent person can be the victim of it. Some people argue he could have just taken her away, but assuming she really could disappear and the guy would never find her, then he'd just find a new victim. So, I can't help but feel that in a case like this, though there is no winning, as a good guy is in prison and the girl has to feel some responsibility for that, still, a really bad guy will NEVER abuse anyone ever again. As long as our Justice system often allows the bad guys to go free and doesn't properly protect the victims, I'll like the idea of the bad guys finding justice in an unofficial way, even if I don't think it's a good path to go down!

This song and video and release as a single to country radio all predated HARDY's album release "the mockingbird & THE CROW"; an album that is half country, half rock, with the title track being a half country, half rock song. If you noticed at the beginning of this video, when the credits are rolling; all letters are in lower case, even HARDY's celebrity name, which is usually in all caps. When the video released, I figured that this was just part of the art for the specific video, but it's more than that. When the album dropped, everything on the country side is in lower case, and everything ROCK is in upper case, but no one but HARDY's Team knew that when this song and video dropped.

The problem I can see with this is sone women will just go the her next abuser. I just would hope it wouldn’t be in vain. But at the same time I’m all about men standing up for women. So when I hear any American men say get rid of the guns, that’s a red flag they are not a protector of any women or children.
@franquil85conn
@franquil85conn Жыл бұрын
@Tera Rosen here's my problem, this isn't his sister or friend, he wasn't a witness to the act, he just sees a random girl on the side of the road, and he's like, "yep you got beat on, I'm gonna kill him and throw my life away"...also while it is never ok to hit a woman, majority of fights and abuse are from both sides. Now he didn't take her "load her down with questions" so this guy is going to go murder a guy and he isn't going to ask many questions? Finally, he tells her to "wait in the truck" so she's not even going to positively ID the man. Man and woman gets in a fight, she leaves, he invites a buddy over to watch the game, and Hardy just killed a potentially innocent man. The point of the song "protect the defenseless" is lost on the vigilanty lyrics. If you actually think about it, the character Hardy plays is an unhinged psycho. He has no emotional ties to this woman, she isn't in danger, he knows nothing about what happened because he didn't "load her down with questions", he's just like yup, screw the hospital or the police, I'm going to 100% believe everything this stranger standing in the road and pouring rain at midnight says and I'm gonna murder someone. Finally, Hardy would have died in the south and be responsible for taking the abused back to her abuser if everything was legit. If someone beats on my door like that anytime, but especially in the middle of the night, I'm not staying in my chair. I'm grabbing my gun and I'm gonna have it trained on the door. The second that door is kicked in I'm blasting that guy in the chest.

@Warren Burlingame well you can respect his channel, I will too, but this isn't disrespect. Ad hominem attacks are disrespectful, but debating two different opinions is how you grow....you see it your way, I see it mine, maybe my view opens your eyes, maybe yours mine, but to say people can't disagree is disrespect is wrong

You put your hands on a woman. Whatever you get you deserve. The problem with the judicial system is the abuser gets arrested and posts bail and goes after her again and a lot of the time the abuse escalates to the point that she ends up dead. So I think that this video represents justice served .

Hardy is an amazing artist - unfortunately- even though I don't disagree with how he handled the situation In the eyes of the court, he broke in to someones home(kicked the door in) and shot a guy in the back( so it wasn't self defense) He likely got charged with 2nd degree murder or homicide... because it was intentional. Our courts fail victims of domestic violence situations on a daily basis but vigilante justice is a grey area ❤ More Hardy please

He made a sacrifice to go to prison, to save the woman from hers. I can't say if he was right or wrong, but the message is very clear. There is nothing right about DV. Some say this is wrong, and no one should take the law into their own hands but if someone you love and care about is going through this, it is agony trying to hold on to your self-control.

These days are over... I honestly prefer them to the days we live in now... But those days are DEAD and Women were the ones that KILLED them. Back in better days, we all had more respect for one another, but as I said, those days are gone. I would never throw my life away for a stranger who made a really BAD choice. She CHOSE that man, and now I have to LOSE my life to get her out of her bad choices? COME ON! Homey don't play that game.

Hardy was extremely popular before Lainey had any awards.. He has sooo many great songs except for his last album which is supposed to be half rock? I just don't like the screaming heavy metal sound (that's just my opinion) but "Give heaven some hell" "Rednecker" "Sober you" "A Rock" are all some good ones to start with!!!!!!

A yankee who does not understand the right thing to do. Like your mom and dad learned to protect women. So you'd call the cops on him and he is out of jail before cops finish paperwork and he beats her again for filing the domestic violence claim. You come to Texas. We all have Judge under all our seats. Lets see how many murders with domestic violence happen up north. If you have been in Texas in ANY small town, we stand up. We do the deal, we accept the punishment/consequences for our actions and DON'T RUN AWAY. I am 70 and would have followed his lead. YOU NEVER BEAT A WOMAN. And if your weakness of courage drives you.... Then shame on you as a man. We protect. If you do not have the cajonnes stay in your blue state or if you are new to the south know we also have a code. NEVER BEAT A WOMAN. So if you are a transplant to the south go back north. If you are in the north don't come here. Again you never beat a woman in Texas without the possibility of gettin it back on you. BTW look up the pistol called a JUDGE. Under the seat.This is a double metaphor. Yes some of us have all our teeth in my case a masters degree.
