Interesting fact but House-Elves have very powerful magic but because they’re enslaved they don’t utilize it to the full extent outside of what their master or mistress commands them to do. Also, Voldemort is THE antagonist of the story, and you’re going to find out how powerful he is because he can’t be EASILY defeated

Hermione is not more powerful than Harry. I understand why you think so but in the books it's clearer. She's more knowledgeable. She reads all the textbooks ahead of time, before the readings are assigned. She remembers spells and enchantments she has learned from her reading. She's a deep thinker as well but Ron and Harry are more about the action than she is. Can't say more because -- spoilers. But as you see more of the movies you'll see some of what I mean. Some will not be as clear because starting with Azkaban, the filmmakers started giving Hermione some of Ron's and Harry's dialogue and action. Bits and pieces at first but it all adds up to making her seem more powerful than the books present.

i've always taken it as her overcompensating due to her being a muggle. she's the only witch in her family (from what i believe) so she wants to prove that she is just as good as the others who aren't muggles and come from magical families. hence her being an overachiever and a "know it all"
@nebulousreactions
@nebulousreactions 2 ай бұрын
Just FYI: A muggle has no magic. A pure blood has pure blood parents. Others are called half blood. If they have muggle parents, they are called muggleborn (polite) or mudblood (slur). If I recall correctly, Ron is pure, Harry is half (because his mother was muggleborn) and Hermione is of course muggleborn. Fun reaction! The next film is when the series kicks it into high gear 🙂 Edit: I googled it, and for clarification, you apparently need no muggle blood at least 4 generations back to claim to be pure.
@nebulousreactions
@nebulousreactions 2 ай бұрын
@@dontrelldurant3450 His mother was muggleborn, so he's half. If she were half, then he might be considered pure. But no wizard once removed from muggles would be considered pure.
@nebulousreactions
@nebulousreactions 2 ай бұрын
@dontrelldurant3450 it makes COMPLETE sense if you understand pedigree. It's the same with dogs. Just because two dogs look like poodles does not mean their offspring is a purebred if the grandparents aren't pure as well. That's why dog breeding involves certification of pedigree, to prove the purity of the line, and why purebred dogs are ridiculously expensive (and just FYI, I'm stone set AGAINST this kind of dog breeding, but I have a basic understanding of their pedigree rules).
@nebulousreactions
@nebulousreactions 2 ай бұрын
@dontrelldurant3450 Also, just a suggestion: instead of arguing with an uninformed opinion, you should research things beforehand if you don't have the relevant information. All I had to google was "is harry a half blood" to get the same explanation that I gave you. If you had done that, it would have saved us both time, and you would not have had to be wrong.
@nebulousreactions
@nebulousreactions 2 ай бұрын
@dontrelldurant3450 You asked a question, yes, but then you began debating the answer without having the relevant background information (ie, an understanding of how pedigree works). Instead of telling me that doesn't make sense, educate yourself. You live in a world where pretty much every single piece of information we've ever collected is literally one google search away. Take advantage of that. Educate YOURSELF, instead of expecting random youtube commenters to educate you (and then debating them when they take the time to answer your question).
@nebulousreactions
@nebulousreactions 2 ай бұрын
@dontrelldurant3450 the fact you've heard people telling you to do your own work enough that you find it irritating does not surprise me, nor the fact someone as intellectually slothful as you would settle on whining about others being "triggered" when they point out that they don't OWE YOU their time to explain BASIC FACTS you are too ignorant to know and too dense to understand. This is a skill issue on your end, dude.

The scene where Lucius kicks Dobby down the stairs. He's obviously CGI so when he kicked the director thought he slipped at first until he said that was me kicking Dobby down the steps. The director liked the idea and left it in👍🏼

Maggie Smith was truly one of our greatest actors. If you really want to see some of her best performances, may I suggest "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress, "California Suite" (Oscar for Best Supporting Actress), "Evil Under The Sun", "Death On The Nile" (1978), and "Hot Millions".

I'm not gonna lie....when I first saw the basilisk in this movie, I had the same reaction Ron had with Aragog. (side note: I am NOT fearful of snakes or spiders). Also, every time I hear Hermione say "She's a little sensitive" to describe Moaning Myrtle, I always have the same first thought: A LITTLE sensitive?" Side note: I always have the thought of "Harry's lucky Fawkes clawed out the Basilisk's eyes, otherwise that rock trick in the tunnel wouldn't have worked at all", combined with "Don't you dare sneeze, Harry"

"Why's he acting like that?!" Because Dobby isn't just a slave, he's a slave to the Malfoys, a family that deems their "servants" as so far beneath them that they don't want to have to constantly watch for signs of disloyalty & do the punishing themselves. They seem to mentally break them when training them (I'm assuming they are still quite young then, as like wizards their magic is innate & they don't have to be physically strong enough to do chores when magic can do chores). They seem to brainwash their elves to believe that their sole purpose for existence is to serve their masters, so even a disloyal thought is a sin they must abolish themselves as if the masters aren't happy then the masters can just kill them. At this point Dobby is old enough he finally realized that logically it isn't true that his life has no value beyond being a slave & he sees his masters are morally wrong, but he still can't stop the compulsion in his brain to punish himself for any independent thought or action that he knows his masters won't like. It is fully ingrained. Later in the books (not the movies though) there's an elf that really loves her "family" because they treat her well, & the elves that work at Hogwarts seem to be very happy & are treated well. Then in the books & movies there's yet another elf that belongs to another pureblood family (won't say who cause spoilers) that openly complains about certain things but all his owner does is tell him to stop his rant & go away. There's no physical abuse or suggestion that the elf "punishes" himself, so clearly that family didn't use the same tactics as the Malfoys either. These other elves are proof that the Malfoys truly see nothing wrong with using mental, emotional, & physical abuse to get what they want. There's a whole plot line in the books about how no matter how well they're treated the elves shouldn't be kept as slaves by the (mostly older & pureblood) wizard families & so Hermione starts a movement to free the slaves which is not fully resolved in the books. But when you think about the elves like Dobby that are treated so inhumanely it at least makes you happy to know that Dobby got freed by Harry's trick. It's implied that eventually Hermione & other young wizards will succeed in getting the elves freed & all the other sentient magic races be given equal status to wizards, but it will take time. The Ministry at the time of Harry's school years is still seriously stuck in the backwards thinking of pureblood wizards being the ultimate beings.

Great reaction! On the question of Harry’s power as a wizard, his power (call it “magic amperage”) is more likely from his parents. They were strong witches and wizards so too was their offspring. That isn’t guaranteed but is usual. What Harry got from Voldemort were abilities, not power. Some wizards are natural flyers (Harry is one of the best; Draco also appears to be a natural flyer). That’s an ability. Other witches & wizards need to learn & practice-and may ultimately become barely capable through very good. But the inborn ability-they don’t even need to study. Harry acquired the parseltongue ability from Voldemort. Did he acquire anything else? Spoilers! Gotta watch to find out. Hoping we get to see your Azkaban reaction soon. Just sharing enthusiasm… 😉
