Not sure if you are citizens yet but we need to vote out our federal government. They are deficit spending and flooding the country with debt financed $$. That is fuel for inflation. The gov. to pay is also competing with us for loans and that drives up interests rates. New Canadians need to participate in the democracy. That is critical. Review and see which party supports your values.

People who earn much more than both of you, don’t do as much. It’s not that we don’t want too, but everything in progression. You can have it all, but not all at the same time. Interest rate issue is a global problem. When you applied for mortgage you showed your income from the full-time job you once had but weren’t planning to pursue that in the future, which means your affordability wasn’t as high as you had during your application. Then you went on to make a series of financial decisions like upgrading kitchen which actually was functional but wasn’t aesthetically pleasing for you, a new car whereas a used one could have done the job, new furniture like a bed whereas your old ikea bed could have been used for a little longer, Peleton bike during spring where you could have just chosen to go for a run, etc. The focus of this comment is not to point out the faults but to try and make you understand that the problem was self created in a way. Undoing so much of damage is complicated and entirely depends on the contracts you have for each of the debt you chose to get yourself into. Inflation is coming under control in most of the countries so the interest rates might have just reached its peak. You could consider to wait it off as the cost involved in moving is a lot higher than paying interest on this property.

Hey! On a friendly note, you might be an amazing person but I seriously think you gotta get more exposure to people who have real money troubles, like real living from paycheque to paycheque situation. There is Ikea and there is CB2, you buy a $600 pendant lamp from CB2 and a person living from PC to PC would probably get half of all their furniture at that price( from Ikea or secondhand or maybe free porch pickup even), they also want to buy that lamp from the expensive store but they simply can't. I am no one to judge you but this really gives me the vibe of "Ananya Pandey's struggle". If you wanna buy all the expensive stuff that's cool, that's your lifestyle but then you cannot complain about savings. If I have limited income and my lifestyle is such that I will only stay in Fairmont(just an example) and then if I complain to my friends that I am not saving anything, they would probably laugh at me. See I love you, this is not coming from a place of hate but I just think you gotta widen your exposure, that will keep you grounded. Rest, I live in Calgary, this is an amazing city, there are enough events all around the year, you can go to the mountains anytime and winter is not as bad as people think it is, I have lived in Ontario for a year and now in Calgary and I honestly find winters much better here cz it is sunny all the time, chinooks help a lot and I can ski as much as I want.

I appreciate your comment, but just want to clarify that right now, in the current situation where interest rates are at all time high, it's difficult to save. And the value for money is very low living in the GTA. So we were weighing our options, if we could still live the same life but have very low monthly for housing, we might be able to save more. Calgary is tempting if you compare it to GTA. And not all the things in my house are from expensive stores. I try to balance it out, and those are long term furniture pieces which we bought from our housing budget. And I'm not COMPLAINING about savings. Complaining is one thing. Sharing is one thing. Just wanted to share with you all my family and ask how Calgary as an option is? We could get BETTER VALUE FOR MONEY there. We only do things that we can afford, and not living beyond our means. But at the same time, everyone has their own way of living and have different priorities. But the crux is wanting to have low housing expenses so that we could be more stress free. And have a better value for our money spent. Hope that clarifies ❤ not everything is about cutting down expenses, there is one thing called better value for money which we long for. And thanks a lot for sharing about Calgary, its helpful 😊

Hey Pooja, I know a lot of people are worried about this whole inflation and interest rates thing that's going on everywhere. But don't base your long-term decisions on this. It's not gonna stay crazy high forever. Right now, it looks like interest rates in Canada are gonna hit their peak in about six months or so. And there might just be one more rate hike of around 0.25% before they start coming down. In about two-two and a half years, they should settle back down to around 3.5% or so. And your mortgage payments will become easier to handle by then. ( I work in investments so that you know I am not pulling this from thin air 🙂). Thought you'd feel better knowing all this.

Do you think the mortgage rate will come back to normal by 2025?
@Amit-y3t8x Жыл бұрын
@@ankitaahuja111 Investment markets are currently pricing in rates to peak at about 4.75% for Canada. Which is a central bank rate. Off course, your mortgage rate will be about 15% to 2.0% higher than this because your bank has to make money; the central bank rate is expected to fall to 3.5% in two years' time, and by the end of 2026, it is expected to fall just under 3.0%. Once central bank rates fall, if you are on a variable rate, it should fall (maybe with a bit of delay) as well. Your bank could be still greedy and might not pass on the full savings, but yes, they should fall. Having said that, it is very difficult to see them falling back to, say 2019-2020 levels.

Selling the house might be a tedious and enervating affair. Before making a final decision to move out, you can consider getting a second job or finding any other way to create an additional stream of income in the short run. Also, you could try and make some lifestyle changes and curb your spending at least for a short while - a year or 2 until the recession passes. It is true that you will not get to live life the way you want, but nevertheless, it would be a sacrifice that you should make for a short while so that it leads to a better future. Now, from what I've seen from your vlogs, I would say that there has been amazing progress in terms of experiences, and lifestyle. Nonetheless, these are dire circumstances, the recession may pass soon but what's to say there won't be another hit to the economy because of all the geopolitical tensions around the world. Hence, I would ask you to also be dynamic and learn about day trading, investing, and wealth building in general. Best of luck to both of you!

Also +5 of Toronto will be same as -5 to -10 of Calgary due to dry weather ( less moisture). Calgary is under rated if you ask me. We moved from Montreal last year to Calgary and it was the best decision ( if you have a job here). Job opportunities are less but people are also less and IT scene has grown over the past 2-3 years with big names like Accenture and some fintech companies as well. Don't just go by what you hear online as most people are still talking about Calgary of 2017/2018 or earlier. I just spoke to a friend who is moving from Ontario and he scored a job in IT (City of Calgary govt job) job in 2 weeks, so I don't believe when people say there are no IT jobs, there are but you need to see if they are in your field of interest and if you have enough experience to meet the posted jobs criteria.

Talk to your bank and see if you can switch to a fixed rate? My sister switched her variable to a fixed recently. When you get a variable rate you need to be prepared to pay more if rates go up. That’s a gamble you take.

Last year, I stayed 3 months in Delhi, 2 months in Calgary and I live full time in Toronto. Truth is, best quality of life is in India and it is getting better. The quality of immigration in Canada is getting worse and things are going to get much worse before they get better. The BOC and the US Fed want to increase unemployment first and then cut interest rates sometime in 2024. So, to rank 1) Delhi 2) Toronto 3) Calgary - cheap houses, but it's ideal when you are 45 years old and just want to chill with family. Apart from the house, everything else is more expensive- food, insurance, weather, parking etc.. Delhi and Toronto have much better job opportunities and frankly Delhi just has more quality competition. So I would suggest to probably find a nice rental place (and sell home) or go through the high inflation storm of 2 years in Toronto. Canada will follow the US on rates, and the US will use a hop on policy i.e. rate increase every second meeting going forward (june- no hike, next meeting increase due to new employment and inflation numbers)

I lived in Calgary, it’s a beautiful place to live. The snow is extreme but it comes with the sun. Also, you get chinooks which are warm sunny days that randomly pop up in the winter. I never said we are miserable living here. I still can afford going out, paying my monthly expenses, shop, travel and everything but WHAT I MENTIONED HERE IS THE VALUE FOR MONEY AND THINKING ABOUT THE FUTURE. We can afford what you see here and that' s why we do it. Our credit cards are always paid off every month. But with the recent interest rate hikes, we had a thought of probably exploring calgary as an option only for one thing - VALUE FOR MONEY. You get value for money there right, compare the houses what you get in the GTA vs calgary. Much better options. Although. we can still continue to live here in ontario but sometimes we think why not make our lives stress free by having low monthly housing costs. AND THAT IS THE TRUTH. Our current situation is fine too- I can still do what I want but sometimes calgary as an option is tempting too. AND WHAT'S WRONG IN EXPLORING? We might be able to live the same life but with better value for money and more savings. What's the harm there? Also building gym was important for us and our lifestyle so we did it and since then i have been able to take care of my health- isn't that great?

Consider moving to Ottawa. We recently moved from Toronto to Ottawa, and we are loving it here. We actually like the summers better here. Also, the winters are not that bad-just a tad bit colder than Toronto, but nothing major. My husband and I are both working professionals (in the same age group as you, with no kids) and had absolutely no issues getting jobs here. In fact, finding a job in Ottawa was much quicker due to less competition. Toronto is simply overcrowded because it's a hot destination for immigrants.

Interest rates have been artificially low since 2008 and a lot of people bought things that they cannot afford. Now it’s time to pay the rooster 🐔 try changing to a fixed rate although in. Canada it resets every 5 years and date will be even higher.. best thing to do is that side second job or just sell and rent ..

So try to increase your income if possible and eventually you can overcome this inflation.

Please don't expect the interest rate to come down any time soon. discuss with your mortgage broker and make a wise decision. Your amortization might have extended like anything with nothing much going into principal. Also, consider selling your house (the spring market had a dead cat bounce and was a good opportunity to sell). Canada is overdebted and money is concentrated only on one asset class (real estate) and no investment in the real economy. Wages have stagnated and quality of life is degrading quickly. Unfortunately, a deep recession would be unavoidable. I would recommend you to learn what's happening in the macro economy and Twitter is a great place to follow.

I would say maybe find a part time job or find a professional job during the day, that you are qualified to work in depending on your education. Then try to figure out a way to balance your daytime job with YT. I think that could really work well. I know many YT do it full time but they do also have hundreds of thousands or millions of followers and other forms of Social media, such as Instagram and TikTok that make their earnings quite high to be able to focus just on YT full time. Also, you are only making about one video a week vs pumping out content three times a week, so finding a part/full time job during the day should be manageable.

And work harder don't just sit at home making videos there are plenty like you in Toronto working full time and vlogging so they can make ends meet such as chit chat with Shilpa he rented her basement you want gym also that's why people are rightfully advising you but it's clear from your video that followed that you can't hear what you don't want to which is work!!! That too coming from India where people die working in the sun rickshaw, food vendors, sabziwaala, everyone. How can you even complain with all you have? You have very expensive taste 🤩- which is okay, but maybe just spend less and think about cheaper options. You could rent out your rooms too for the time being! Or have a main job part time and do youtube as your second income! There are many ways to save money… some of us have 2-3-4 kids and still can save. I am sorry - no judgement from my side but please don’t complain about being broke because it is very disappointing to see😢

I just watch your this video, i really liked your videos. I also live in Oakville and my advise is dont sell your house. There is a big possibility interest rate going to decrease this year and 1 percent for sure in 2024. So first option is stay here . Option 2 : Rent out oakville and you urself go on rent somwhere else. The benefit is you will keep your house in oakville which will have an excellent price gain while you go to waterloo on rent and whatever rent you get from oakville house you can get half of rent in two bedroom appartment for only 3 years until rate down and prices up and then you come back. Never ever sell your oakville house if you do thsi you will never ever able to buy this. This house is a ticket in long term so use this house as investment property and you urself go on rent Thank you Burhan

Hi Pooja, your video is contradictory with your lifestyle. Normal immigrants can't afford expensive stuffs like yours and each partner has to work to earn a decent living and pay the bills. You are lucky that your family supports you..at this age! It seems also that you have just woke up and realise the issue with the variable interest rate. It is probably nearing its end when you are now waking up. It's not a new subject at all and everybody is feeling it.. Since very long time ago.

You will never like it in Calgary special moving from Ontario.Think of affordable cities in Ontario like Kitchener-waterloo- Cambridge or London and the list is long. I am a realtor myself and have clients move to Calgary from Ontario and then came back cz of dull life and nothing to do. I know people in Calgary will say it’s the best cz they either never lived in a big cities and let me tell you Ontario has huge population and great opportunities for anything you can think of where as Calgary is just equivalent to Brampton & Mississauga and its over. There are many ways to get from this situation but moving out of the province is not the best. If possible switch you mortgage to 3 yrs fixed with rates around 4.6% and many more options. Let me know if you need to browse more options.

I dont know about moving somewhere else but pls be aware of the thing that all the profit you make by selling your stuff here will easily be vanished in no time. As they say, "paisa paani ki tarah hota hai, kab khatam ho jaaye pata bhi nahi chalega". So i think, its better you stay at same place and think of multiple business opportunities/part time job or anything else to add to your income.. Also, if you could manage or cut down your daily little expenses, that will make a huge difference at the end of the day. Lastly, dont stress but plan wisely and stay happy❤

I commend you courage to speak up about this. You should move away from making life style videos (expensive) to doing other creative videos which can be less of an upfront investment. Now recently my parents had visited me and they are young (in their 40s), they HATED Canada and would not like to settle here. They are forcing me to come back as we live in Mumbai (we have our own big houses, well settled business and cars and what not!) I have decided to earn here for quite some time take all the money ( which I have spend here on education and buy a apartment in India) and settle there. Rather than working here pay cheque to pay cheque why not work hard there (keeping in mind that if recession ever hit hard, in Toronto I will be lay off and then most probably I will not be able to pay my rent and expenses) where as I’in India atleast my dad is there to support me. In 3.5years I have realized that INDIA IS THE BEST COUNTRY. Canada is just the hype and working your ass off here, where government will never want you to be rich here. Rental price is sky rocketing, food price is going up. In India atleast you can afford to eat despite earning very less, not possible in Canada.
