The Rolling Stones have released their second single Sweet Sounds Of Heaven featuring Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder. It's completely different to their first single Angry, and people say it's similar to some of their 70s classic. Is it? I love The Rolling Stones music from the 1970s, so let's have a listen.

My experience, both as a fan and engineer tracking Flashpoint Live, is that Mick has enormous reserves, like any master musician. His instrument is solidly in control. Pitching exactly when he wants or speaking with every degree of ‘looseness.’ He’s in a rarefied group of singers, invented the style, and I never tire of it.

Stevie Wonder was the opening act for the stones on their US 1972 the exile tour. The MSG concert on July 26, 1972 (wow that was almost 3yrs before JH was born) the last show of the tour and jaggers 29th birthday was incredible. 🎉😊. Just Imaging Stevie Wonder as the supporting act 🤯, what a concert! JHRA, this channel is so good, thanks. You never disappoint. 🥳

I love the diversity of the Stones over the past sixty years. Some people seem stuck on certain albums or time periods i.e. Brian years, Taylor years, Wyman years. Every time you have a band member come or leave it will change the dynamics and sound of the group. I believe the Stones have endured so long because they have been willing to evolve. Almost everyone can relate to at least a few of their works.

They sound fantastic! I can't help but sing and play along! ....and then Lady Gaga comes in! I really needed this. It makes me feel like a young man of 60 again. That's the edited version. There's 2 more minutes that feels spontaneous... great stuff. I'm going C, B flat, F.... This counts as church, right? Best since Exile IMHO.

And this you know absolutely for a fact? There’s recent live videos of Jagger sounding just as good singing Angie. He over the years hits the mark beautifully as well as shamelessly throwing it away.
@fromchomleystreet
@fromchomleystreet 10 ай бұрын
I agree that digital pitch-correction is not immediately apparent like it is on “Angry”, which makes you wonder why on earth Watt thought it was necessary to ladle so much of it onto the vocals on that song, when Jagger clearly doesn’t “need” it. I wonder if the backlash from its overuse on “Angry” caused them to revisit other tracks like this one and dial the melodyne back a bit. Nobody wants to hear Mick Jagger singing perfectly on pitch like a fucking robot. He never did, so why should he start now?

Wow, an Ayers reference. I hadn't thought of it, but it does have a similar vibe. Archie Legget on vocals, (kind of a Joe Cocker vibe), and the horns are fantastic on the Ayers track. There's a version of 'Parents' that Kevin sings on the album 'Still Life With Guitar' if you haven't heard it, although I don't like it as much as the Bananamour version.
