Finally managed to try this one, and it's insanely delicious. Going for high end beef paid off big time. I cooked the meat only 2-3 minutes, it was already getting brown, and I didn't want to overcook it. Not sure how my electric stove top is seemingly hotter than a gas stove on high, but the meat turned out perfect.

I made this the other day and despite following the instructions verbatim, the color of the hayashi was more of a reddish brown than the red shown when it's complete? Not quite sure why, but any advice would be welcome chef, keep up the great work!

I really enjoy Japanese rice dishes like this. Gyudon with onsen tamago is my favourite so far, though I always like seeing new ones. Is this influenced by French cuisine? I see beef roux, red wine and cream and I immediately think "French"!
@CHEFSLABO3 жыл бұрын
Hi James!! Yeah these kind of dishes are the category of Japanese food "Yoshoku "(Western influenced Japanese food) So That's why some Japanese dishes in my channel uses French techniques 😉
@Anesthesia0693 жыл бұрын
@@CHEFSLABO I think I also read somewhere that curry was originally adopted from the British enjoyment of Indian curry and exported to Japan that way. There, of course, it combines with roux. All very interesting!

You can leave them completely out, but don't add either broccoli or olives; they will alter the flavor profile and finished texture too significantly. You could serve broccoli on the side if you wanted.
