The Hatsan Bully in .30 caliber is used on a Texan pig hunt. Airgun hunting for hogs is a lot of fun, and a hunt almost anybody can do! This gun was topped with an ATN Xsight 20x scope, and though it was used to spot some pigs, the only kill was on a small boar during the daylight hours.
The Hatsan Bully comes in several calibers, and is an excellent value priced hunting bullpup that is feature rich.

Great video as always Jim, always look forward to these! Nice power from the .30 cal, those damn pigs are the ultimate introduced species they are everywhere. They are too damn smart and have great hearing for a clumsy man like me to sneak up on them haha. Take care Jim.

Nice video! I have this exact airgun and love it. You're spot on about the weight, I wouldn't want to go on a long stalking hunt with mine. But, for use in a blind or shorter walking hunts it's impossible to beat for the price. Such a great value.

AIR Nashville thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I understand Hatsan is working to shave some weight but maintain the build quality and ruggedness on future designs....... but considering everything else about this bullpup, I can live with the weight.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but why would you take a 30 cal on a pig hunt when Hatsan has the 45 cal. The 45 carries more energy and so would be more devastating. Perhaps there is an advantage I'm not seeing.?

Thank you for the video! I am in Colorado, I wish we had pigs everywhere here too. I guess Texas is the nearest hot bed of pig hunting. I don’t know anyone there does anyone have a suggestion where to start?
@americanairgunhunter
@americanairgunhunter 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Norman, you should be glad you don't have them, they are an environmental disaster. Texas or Oklahoma are probably your closest, but there is very little public land to hunt. If you don't know anyone with land you can buy a lease. However for the occasional hunt there are lots of outfitters and fees are pretty reasonable at many (though some can get a bit pricey). Go online and search, you can find lots of options.

Almost bought a bully... ended up buying a Kral conversion by Troy Hammer. What kind of velocity are you getting from those 50 grns? I have been making hybrid pellets in 30 and 35 caliber, for guns that don’t want to shoot slugs. The 30’s are 65 grn and the 35’s are 130... both give me 1” groups at 50 yds. Ever want to try them, I’ll send you some. I think you’ll be surprised.

This BullBoss is a .30 caliber doing about 115 fpe, while the Bulldog is a .35 caliber doing about 180-200 fpe. Both are accurate with maybe a slight advantage going to the Hatsan. I like the build quality, trigger, and ergonomics better on the Bullboss, but if your primary concern is power, the Crosman has it.

The bully in 25 cal will take deer with heart/lung shot. I accidentally grab my 25 instead of the 30 cal, and the 25 had slugs in it. deer ran about 40 yrds and dropped. it weighed 130 lbs so I wouldn't do it, but I think the 22 bully using slugs will drop a deer @40-55 yrds

I though you might have gone for that tiny sow. The way some present these rifles, not saying you, are that one needs to be right next to the animal to kill it. Hatsan puts out powerhouse guns that gives the hunter plenty of room and killing power so you be confident that what you shoot at will go down with one shot.
@TheKimjoh560
@TheKimjoh560 5 жыл бұрын
You are shooting a moving target the size of an egg. If nothing else being as close as possible would only be more ethical. Lethality in this case is not so much a question of power or caliber as it is about shot placement. The issue with an airgun compared to a .306 or similiarly chambered hunting rifle is that the later provides a bigger target because you generally aim for the chest and use an expanding bullet with 10-15x more kinetic energy. I actually disagree with you on that this rifle provides "plenty of room and killing power" because if you hit your mark it doesnt really matter wether this is a .30 with 100 fpe or a or .22 at 20 fpe. In my opinion, until you reach powerlevels where you can comfortably take heart/lounge shots on medium game the only thing you really gain by moving up in power/caliber is effective range and a decrease in wind sensitivity.
