@@bladeofveng the professor did say that hotep is a part of many Pharaoh's names. So that partially counted.
@kimberlyhaines1074 жыл бұрын
bladeofveng Except you have an Imhotep who got a bad portrayal as a person if it’s the same one I’m thinking of. An Imhotep we know about was behind the mastabas, which served as an early incarnation of the fairly well perfected pyramids (which no slaves would be allowed near to build given their significance, you want the best craftsmen possible). I still remember my scholarly Art professor (she did everything except putting actual art to paper in most her classes as she couldn’t draw to save her life, which she recognized), her Art Appreciation class, and how no one better cite the pyramids, or other monuments like Stonehenge, to aliens as it’s an extreme insult to those who came before us, that we think they were too stupid to figure out such construction on their own. But if we’re going to take historical figures and make them into evil mummies from “The Mummy” franchise, then they should cover the emperor who built the giant terra-cotta army, and who had some workers buried in the beginnings of the Great Wall of China. That Emperor was REALLY out there, being picky enough that no two terra-cotta soldiers look alike - never mind all the other things he had buried with him, convinced he would one day return to rule over China. Let’s face it - we keep getting Western history, but Shane really hasn’t touched on Eastern History. Or Meso-American. Either of those would be utterly fascinating.
@gg-ll2lu4 жыл бұрын

Yeah it’s so weird sense aliens helping build things is most about non-white cultures. But it’s likely most ancient poc were way smarter then we give them credit for. Also some of the theory’s of what Alain helped build are stupid cause the building isn’t that complex. Rant about pyramids Like I saw something how multiple ancient cultures on different sides of the world that probably never connected (like in South America and Africa) had pyramids so aliens must have helped them all. But like pyramid’s aren’t that complicated of a structure and pretty simple way to stack stuff. Although the inside of the pyramids are pretty complex an cool but still they don’t need aliens. Although the all seem to be related to burial/religion but pyramids kind of point toward the sky/heavens so I don’t think it’s weird it actually makes sense. End of pyramid rant But yeah while idea of ancient aliens is funny and has created some good memes . Its racist to assume alien had to be involved in the building of structures because those people couldn’t be that smart enough to do it themselves. I also wonder how if we listened and appreciate the culture and knowledge of poc more through all history how different would be be a society.

So fun fact, (not that anyone will probably care but) the leading theory as to why Hatshepsut was forgotten is down to jealousy and the patriarchy because, as usual, when a Pharaoh dies they get a tomb, and Hatshepsut built herself this beautiful tomb that was two storeys and built into the side of a mountain. Thutmose III decided he was going to build himself an even bigger tomb next door to hers that would supposedly put hers to shame and really overshadow her tomb and her successes in her mortal life. But guess which temple is still standing today... If that isn't some kind of punishment from the Gods then I don't know what is.

Some more than others, sure, but they have all committed some horrific acts in their time. That the same ruthlessness and manipulativeness can be seen as totally normal and expected from a male ruler but somehow a top reason to consider a female ruler as being unfit to rule is itself a very unfair thing. Even if she was a ruthless leader, her rule should be assessed in the same way as every other ruler's - and vice versa in that other rulers who are considered great should be as harshly criticized for being ruthless and manipulative as rulers like Zetian are.

Hapshetsut had her own MASSIVE burial temple! (The professor talks about it a wee bit in the video, but I'm gonna spew a few more facts) One e theory as to why she was found... well, NOT in her temple in the 1900s was due to her dying rather unexpectedly and too far from her temple to be buried there in a timely manner. Her temple was carved into the face of a canyon/rock and has three levels to it. It also has a massive ramp of stairs leading to the top, which was once lined with exotic plants from the red sea. This temple housed over 100 statues of the queen pharaoh, some sphinxes (like said in the video) but not all. This temple was later defaced by her step son (again, like the professor says) as he had nearly all the statues destroyed. My favorite theory as to why he destroyed so much of her legacy was due to the fact that she was soooo popular and was too much to live up to. He didn't want to rule in her shadow. (Again, no one knows for sure, this is just one idea) Anywho, you should look up her burial temple! It's pretty cool. Oh yeah, she also had an affair with her architect, who she also commissioned the temple from.

I would like to imagine that in 1903, Hatshepsut was suddenly transported to an afterlife paradise and she could finally revel in all the good things she had done

A few things I'm sad weren't addressed or explained, but overall a good hype job for an amazing Pharoah. The rebranding of her appearance as a man was to make her an actual Pharoah. All Pharaoh's wore the ceremonial fake beard and regalia because they were very literal and most of their population couldn't read or write. So, if you were dressed as a Pharoah, you WERE a Pharoah. Also, you wouldn't dare dress as a living God if you weren't one, because the gods wouldn't allow that. So, to become a true Pharoah, she had to dress the part. Also, she led her troops into battle on two separate occasions and was regarded as a military leader. They even found offerings of weapons to her. And, lastly, the biggest commodity they traded with Punt was myr. It was essentially to Egyptian life and was one of the ingredients in their skin cream that acted as a perfume and incense. Just some fun facts! ^_^
