Like the swather, love watching the baler. Remember, I’m used to seeing horses, plows & hand baled hay with the Amish farms. When their field caught fire(cigarette tossed from a car) I’m SURE they would’ve taken the offer for a baler. Their hay feeds their life stock all winter. Since they don’t have phones, or cars, it took awhile for word to spread that they needed help baling(saving what they could) while the fire department fought the fire. I felt so helpless.

I love the wide open spaces, it seems like you can drive for miles without seeing another person. You put in long days on the farm but despite that it seems like a peaceful way of life. Watching your videos gives me a brief respite from the hectic way of life in NJ. Thank you, my friend. 😃

I was gonna say "wow that's a lotta potash", but then you mentioned the "Treflan". I started out in the 70s, using Treflan but I, and most people switched to "Prowl". Runner seed seemed to get damage and stunting, emerging through the Treflan. Treflan is tougher on weeds for sure! And watering it in well ahead of planting has to lower the chance of seed damage. Is that a rye/wheat mix? Here we figure every 10bu wheat yield=1 bale of hay. Wheat being around $6/bu, people who can, may start combining it again. I know, it's YOUR cotton ground😁, and those dairies will take all you can bale. Cutting hay IS pretty satisfying, I'll agree.
@conleybanman3 жыл бұрын
Well prowl is still really good we use that too every now and then. It’s rye no triticale but were hoping to get around 4 bales per acre which a lot of dairies are on low supply due to it being so dry so they’re really paying high dollar for everyone’s hay
@scottmichaels25383 жыл бұрын
We use treflan as a pre emergence on our soybeans, its definitely yellow & stains everything.

Do you have to sharpen blades or anything like that on a swather? Great video. Congrats on the good yield.

Thanks and we change the blades instead. Sharpening isn’t really worth it since the blades aren’t that expensive
