Now it makes sense why Oz got so frustrated whenever his mom would remember his brothers; it's because he wants her full attention to be on him and nobody else, and why he got a bit jealous when she showed some love and attention to Vic. @rottensquid19 күн бұрын
The thing that blows me away about this show is how effortless it feels. It's brilliantly constructed and interconnected, through themes, character parallels, intricate plotting, and yet I don't feel the complexity. It all feels simple, even though it's anything but. And it moves. Most TV shows would take 30 episodes to cover this much change, this many twists and turns. Oz builds a drug empire in episode 6, and it's blown to bits in episode 7. But it doesn't feel rushed or condensed. Each story beat turns on a spacious moment between characters that feels wholly character-driven. It's absolutely confident, masterful writing and film crafting.
@themadtitan760317 күн бұрын
@rottensquid This is maybe my biggest pro with the show so far, I've said this in another comment but the show's intricately crafted characterization, plotting, & level of detail in these two things evokes The Sopranos to me. Sal would be seen taking heart medication earlier on without it being the center of the scene & then die to a heart attack later just when he seems to be gaining the upper hand on Oz. Or Oz, speaking of, cunningly maneuvering & talking his way out of tough situations by using things he picked up or heard earlier. And as you said, the way the show "takes up space" by having its major plot progression & character development occur mostly without being constrained like it's lagging behind. But also not taking too much space that there are "filler", meandering episodes so we can see, e.g; Oz building up his drug empire or see it last a few episodes before it blows up, which is also benefitted by the episodes taking place a few in-universe weeks apart & the show showing that. Everything feels precise & specific following a thoroughly planned out layout to a certain endgame. Happening just at the right pace despite major developments happening episodes apart. And this is special for me because it's been a gripe I've had with many miniseries (especially the Marvel/Star Wars ones) nowadays.

Prior to this episode I'd have only expected those drug runners being murdered and strung up ('cos it made local TV news), and one other scenario I'm blanking on right now to have been something Bats couldn't feasibly overlook… but this? Yeah, let's see how they navigate it in the finale. I don't want him to show up, but I also want it to continue to make sense that he doesn't. EDIT: The head of the Maroni family being broken out of Blackgate was the other thing; something like that can't just be hand-waved away.
