Im happy to see you’re still creating videos. It’s been a few years since I’ve visited your channel. Not because anything you did or didn’t do, just life happens. I’ve always enjoyed your videos. My brother, best friend and I started Brewing again. I’m working on catching up on your videos today. Cheers

Definitely on point with differences in buzz depending on what you’re drinking. Beer is always our favorite happy all over buzz. Cheers 🍻

I have one of the Ss Brewtech Brewbucket fermenters that has a immersion coil in the lid for fermentation temperature control, though it also works great as a wort chiller. I transferred my hot wort to the Brewbucket, fired up the cooling and realized I had my blow off hose plumbed into a bucket of starsan like you'd do during fermentation. Well the rapid cooling of the wort created suction and it pulled the bucket of starsan into the wort through the hose. :( Wont make that mistake again.

Hi Craig, Sounds like you are going to add a new item for your brewhouse checklist :) We have all made this kind of faults... And will probably do more of them :D Cheers and have a nice week.

Hey Craig! When Star-San is cloudy like you have there, it's no good anymore. If you use distilled water, that doesn't happen. I usually make 2 - 3 gallons at a time and keep it in a bucket with a screw-top lid. It will stay clear forever unless I get some beer or other unwanted things in it. Then I dump it. I have discussed this with many people.
@CraigTube6 жыл бұрын
One of the makers of StarSan was interviewed, and he said that as long as it's below a ph of 3, it's killing. I test mine regularly and even though it's cloudy, it still has the acidity to sanitize. Never been a problem for me. This debate has gone on for years. Lots of talk out there, but from the horse's mouth, cloudy is fine. It's all about the PH, and mine is never more than 2.

Although I can completely understand the frugal nature of trying to re use a formerly contaminated fermenting vessel. A fermentor is so much cheaper than even a single batch of ruined beer.
@HaplessGingerBrew6 жыл бұрын
Starsan turns to a yeast nutrient anyhow so other than watering down it would be fine. Not suggesting adding a gallon of starsan to your wine or beer though😂 I’m not sure hops would affect the way alcohol works on the body but they are known to make you slightly sleepy in large quantities. I imagine that the affect of hoppy beers would be due to the fact that heavy hopped beers such as IPA’s are usually higher ABV.👍👍
@dropgold6 жыл бұрын
Psst, glad you liked the Hoptical (SE) ;) Iswear by Star-San when cleaning fermenters, but I would not be able to pluck up the courage to drink a batch of wine when dumping it on top of nearly a gallo of ths tuff. I can just about handle the foam, but not that much :) Look forward to your next video. Catch you this Friday on your live cast... 17!

To all those complaining/lamenting the days of old of Craig posting a weekly video...relax. Other than the cost of our internet connections, we are getting his content for FREE! I'll freely admit, I too miss the days of regular content, but times change. If he's running out of weekly ideas, I'd rather he post when he has something to add, be it weekly, monthly, or whenever. I look at it this way. At least he's still around. I don't know how many other channels I've previously subbed to over the years, that have abruptly vanished. I get the feeling Craig is a "stand-up" guy. I hope it never happens, but I trust Craig would put up a final video if he was ever thinking of closing his channel down. Cheerz/17

It's been a LONG time since I said this so bear with me and I'll just blurt it out and go. There is NO NEED for a gallon or similar amount of star san solution! No need! lol! Use a spray bottle and spray liberally. Swish it around in your carboy or jug or bucket or other fermentation vessel. It only needs to touch the surface, you don't need to bathe in it and neither does your gear. Spray your gear as you're about to use it. Save money, save time, save storage space, recycle those gallon apple juice jugs, lol. OK, said my piece. Happy brewing!
