Don't ever rely on TCL for software updates. They have had 480p scaling issues in multiple TV models of them for like 4+ years, which they promised to fix in updates, and it still hasn't been. Only factor in updates if it is already available _before_ you buy a product.

The black crush of the QN95C at 1:46 is the reason I always used my Q90R with local dimming set to low. I did lose some peak brightness but on the plus side I also lost some blooming-strength, increased shadow detail and still kept some of the deep blacks and the lovely QLED color richness. In game mode with DTM (detail) brightens the image too much, whereas, if you choose HGIG, you get a somewhat good balance, but the image darkens too much Also, if you are going to use 120hz on pc (144hz never worked...), you have to limit the bandwidth to 40gb with CRU, otherwise you will have intermittent video signal drops. Qm8 reviews have also noted the inaccurate EOTF tracking, but as some one who has been using the 85 inch qm8 for almost a month now, I have seen absolutely zero issues with the local diming feature in regards to black levels. Black bars are almost always OLED like. @@antos1951 People need to say this more, the more we say it the faster he will go and search a device that is capable just doing that. OLED gaming monitors are on 240Hz for 1440p, LG will make a 240Hz capable 4K monitor in 2024. 1080p 120Hz results will look very sad on those monitors/TVs.

Hello Vincent, I’ve been watching your reviews for years now… previously you have always rated Panasonic OLED TVS as being one of the best brands. I have a TX 55FZ802B which i purchased in 2019 (2018 Model). Just had the screen replaced under the 5 year warranty as i had a few pixels blown but the major problem was a bright line across the top of the screen.. all I wanted to say was wow what a difference now with the new screen, i guess the screens must deteriorate a lot over a few years… what do you think?
@theonewithin609 Жыл бұрын
OLED's wear out over time. Well known. Regardless of brand or make. It's just how the tech works. Even LCD will lose brightness over time as the LED backlight wears out.

Hi, Does the TCL C845 have PVR/Timeshift function or not? On TCL global website in the specifications (additional feature) for all C845 display sizes is written that the the TV has PVR/Timeshift (Comply with different regional standards). A few of my friends have this device, but they can't manage to operate it, there is not such function. The C845 did recognize the external SSD and HDD via USB Port, but they still could not bring to work any PVR/Timeshift function on it. Did you find such function and it works? if so, how and where it's possible to use/start it on an european regional C845 TV? Thank you.

Nobody has a “calibration” settings to share, what you are asking is “configuration” settings, a completely different thing. Calibration are insidious for each single unit of tvs, with measurement equipment.

Do you guys ever test the audio delay when using eARC with a home theater when using another input for the source, for example hooking up a PS5 to the TV, then using the eARC for audio on a receiver? My TCL 55R635 is not bad in a lot of ways but the audio delay makes me want to throw it in the garbage and buy a new TV sometimes. I don't see much coverage of this problem with TVs. When playing a vid from an internal app such as Netflix, there may or may not be a delay with audio depending on the app. Amazon Prime was always the worst while other apps are fine or not bad enough to be a problem. You can't use lip-sync settings as it only delays audio further. Also for gaming it wrecks the experience when audio is lagging behind by 1/4 second or whatever.

Buy a better receiver and connect PS5 to that with eARC to TV

Thanks a lot for this detailed review. Yet, I've got one important question before pulling the trigger and buying this TV as soon as the 'Black week' deals will be offered. Oddly, TCL moved the eARC port to one of the HDMI 2.0 (or even 1.4?) ports. Will there be a great disadvantage when connecting my HDMI 2.1 capable Atmos surround system to the non-HDMI 2.1 port?
@bauboni Жыл бұрын
no, hdmi 2.0 has plenty of bandwidth for eARC, wasting an HDMI 2.1 port for eARC is dumb, TCL made the right choice
