also, i'd love to see Jessica come back but i wholeheartedly believe S01 of Jessica Jones is top 3 seasons of TV marvel has ever made (along with Agents of SHIELD S02 and Daredevil S03. though to be fair, i haven't seen the stuff they did on Hulu like Legions and Helstrom and Runaways) and i'd rather they just left her alone and did not try to incorporate her into the MCU. also, Luke was perfectly cast and i'd love to see him come back too, but also his show is so deeply political and shockingly nuanced for marvel, after that awful Falcon and The Winter Soldier show i'd rather they just leave him alone too tbh.

I watched the first season of Runaways and really enjoyed it. It was a really solid teen show. I’ve heard amazing things about Legion, but I never picked that one up. And boy, I never thought to compare Luke Cage to Falcon and the Winter Soldier. WOOF. That is quite a difference in quality!!

TMNT isn't DC, WB just worked out a deal to have them appear in Injustice 2. The comics were originally published by Mirage, and are currently published by IDW. The overall rights are owned by Nickelodeon/Paramount. Other than that, you're right. Daredevil was the direct inspiration for TMNT, and the original comics were actually much more violent and similar to DD in tone. You can see the inspiration in a lot of other ways too, like Stick/Splinter and the Hand/Foot clan.

This series was genuinely more enjoyable to me than anything else Marvel put out, and it still is debated if this is canon or not. I have always loved the more street level heroes, Spidey & DareDevil, Nightwing over in DC. This tone was perfect for the character and the casting was spot on.

There's a scene in the comics where Daredevil has to break into a prison, and he has to fight a knock-off Captain America to get in. He tells the guy he should just get out of the way, and maybe go to church and get right with God. The Dollar Store Cap replies "nah, I'm good with God," to which Matt says "if that were true, he wouldn't have sent the Devil." Matt then proceeds to beat the guy within an inch of his life.

I really liked a lot of the production behind these Netflix Marvel shows, particularly the look of S1 Jessica Jones. It seemed very fresh to me; the colors of the city at night really stood out, which I thought was cool. The writing was best in Daredevil, though, and the villain treatment there was AWESOME. I know writers often have a hard time doing superhero stuff, which was the case with the Iron Fist show, but the rest of them were good. Not immaculate, but most of the time they used the serial nature of Netflix correctly for the stories, as it was done with the comics. I think comic books fit this serial structure far better than they fit the movie structure. In the comics you can draw things out, shuffle in some side quests, and develop characters.

This isn’t a lawyer procedural though, they specifically didn’t want to go that route and you learn that quickly in the episodes that follow, the elements of lawyer/ court room drama disappear very quickly, at its core it is still a comic book action tv series.

I'd happliy trade my eyesight for Matt's senses. He smells guns before you can draw, feels the air displacement coming from any weapon, bullet, or strike and can move accordingly to evade.( Cats also do this ) In grappling he can feel weak points and applies Judo/Akido moves off that better than any 5th degree blackbelt. Then ya add on hearing and smell for blocks, and you have a total sex-trafficker bone-breaking machine.

I'd like to see all the characters and shows return.. Iron Fist, well.. maybe not as much.. other than for completeness's sake and some of the other characters who appeared in that continuity, like Colleen Wing. But yeah, Finn Jones's performance was pretty underwhelming too, nm the writing issues. I will point out though, a major part of what did IF in was production scheduling issues. They had a deadline for when the first Defenders had to be finished by, one that was contractual I think? IF s1 had to be done before that, but was held up by accumulated delays from the preceding seasons of DD and JJ, but also because they bumped it back after Luke's appearance in JJ got a warm reception from audiences and they moved up the production of Luke Cage ahead of IF. Finn Jones also didn't manage to get in much training due to scheduling (maybe from GoT?), which obviously has repercussions when you're supposed to be portraying one of the best martial artists in the Marvel Universe..

Not sure when this was recorded, but FWIW Disney gave up and is no longer calling it a reboot. This show (and, by extension, the rest of the Netflix stuff) is considered canon again. They could only back-peddle so far before they ran out of places to back-peddle to. Which is great if they can actually pull off the tone and quality of writing (especially of the first season of shows until they seemed to run out of steam halfway through Luke Cage). Here's hoping? Loved a lot of the Netflix stuff (not you, Iron Fist... okay, at least you tried in the second season).

The only stipulations being, it _has_ to be Krysten Ritter and Disney doesn't change a thing - if they don't want a serious tone, featuring a high [dys]functioning alcoholic with PTSD (and fair enough, that's not exactly on brand) then just don't make it. (i'd also watch the hell out of a brief-cameo-laden "Night Nurse" show and Rosario Dawson's already working for Disney anyway - just add an extra zero to her contract, job done :)
