I worked for DG for almost 3 months. This was my first truck driving job. This job is all about mindset. Training is 4-6 weeks if you feel comfortable, and you're paid $800-1,000 a week I'll have to check my paystub to confirm. After training I experienced being on the road by myself. Because my trainer was a male they had my in a hotel the entire time I was in training. My first load was 4 hours away from the dc plus all the stops. I was so nervous and exhausted from the job. You'll have 3-5 stops per trailer it just depends on how the warehouse loads them. You have to stay on top of your dispatcher. Some give good miles others not so much. The more miles the better because it doesn't matter how many pieces a stop has its all the same amount per stop ($0.62 × # miles + $50 per stop +*sweep $50). My lowest check after training was $700+ because I mainly sat due to no trailers were available. My biggest check was $1500+ and yep this is paid weekly. The money is good so if you're ok with getting into tough areas to park and unloading heavy heavy rolltainers and loading U-boats and everything else that comes with simply being a cdl holder then go for it. I left because I wanted to be closer to home, and a job became available locally. Honestly, I wish I stuck it out alittle longer to get my bonus smh. Overall, DG isn't a bad company to drive for but you will work hard. They're paying you to lose weight lol. Stay focus remember why you started and always watch your right. Follow my trucking/nail journey on tictok @b_limitless1 . God bless

Honestly the money is there for DG, I actually miss my DG job, just couldn't continue being out there on the road, but I can say some of those stores be tight tight, definitely helped me in my driving since i went there right after school. Them rolltainers be no job, never have a i pushed something sooo damn heavy, they over load the rolltainers with that milk and boy good luck, specially some of them stores, the back door be on some hills and pushing up hill all that weight is rough. The money is there though and they stay having newer trucks so thats always a plus.

I did DG for 3 months as my first trucking job and it’s def not for me. The pay is great but some of the stores were very unorganized and the way they stack loose items on top of the rolltainers in the truck was VERY hazardous. Maybe it was the DC that I worked out of but it’s no bueno for me. I work now for Penske on a WaWa account making $120k+. We load our own trailers and the work is less stressful.
@dreadthalife2040
@dreadthalife2040 25 күн бұрын
I been working for DG for about 6 months now out of Missouri and honestly it’s not too bad of a job. It’s my first driving job with my cdl. The pay is .65 a mile, 50 a stop and 20 a sweep. You can make from .65 to .70 cpm. There are pros and cons. Pros. Pay has been consistent lately but starting out they are going to see how you work before you get the longer loads. My lowest check has been 780 which was my first week out of training. My highest check has been 1600. If you like being active this is a good job and the week goes by fast. 3 loads sounds like a lot but it goes by fast and you are home before you know it. Cons. Often the warehouse loads the trailers like shxt so needless to say I do some venting while I’m unloading or digging nets out that are caught on other rolltainers. Now you are NOT going to earn 100000 your first year working here whether u got experience or not. The dispatchers know who work hard and who doesn’t. You don’t get loads based on experience. Just less training time. But I’m on track to make a lil under/over 70k in my first year with a CDL. 1-10 I give the Job a 6.8 Take that how you want. I’m going to finish my first year with them and see what my W2 says. And go from there.

Class A CDL truck driver with 6 months previous tractor/trailer driving experience, This is never opportunity for new driver. I have class A CDL for more than 1 year, but I can't get a job. How to enter this business if they require experience, but do not give opportunity. thanks bro.

Werner hires no experience for dollar general contract and most all of their contracts. Have to go through the mega carriers to get the first 6months-1year of experience then go anywhere

Our local routes go out around 3am & work 10-11hrs a day. So they’re back by noon-1pm. Off weekends paid weekly. I run chain account (regional driver) so my schedule is a little different. Here’s my schedule.. Mon 2:30am-noon (hotel layover) Mon night/Tue morning 11pm-8am Wednesday is optional but if I work it’s a local route 2:30a-10:30a Thur & Fri same as Monday/Tue Every location/route is different but most routes will average around 11-12hrs

Did this and it’s a lot of work roltainers are a nightmare and really doesn’t make sense how they want the job done it can be a lot more efficient. I did fresh truck and it’s hard on the body and I don’t think the pay equates bc a Uber driver can make more than you weekly with a lot less resistance. So I think they need to up the pay pronto for something like a fresh truck and the freezer is a bitch smh

I’m so tired of hearing about making a hundred grand out of driving school. It’s bullshit ! I’ve been driving off and on since 1989. 6 years straight this time. I finally made $94K last year hauling fuel. I hauled fuel for 10 months pre pandemic. Made around $75K. Pulled a reefer for a year and a half during the plandemic. Made $70K. Maybe if you’re Eastcoast & Union. Not in the Rocky Mountain region.

Spit n facts. 30 years in this business. If you live in the truck full time & utilize your time and run off of recaps you might hit 100k. I believe it’s just a number just to pull in applications to fill spots, once in there true colors will pop & false promises will reveal its ugly head. I was offered 63cpm & 35 stop pay at the BG, Ky Fresh DC. Said 1200 miles week & 21 stop a week. That will come to $1491 week & $77, 532 year b4 taxes.

Saw Dollar general jobs paid 25 to 35 . Maybe they had their own private fleet I never heard of. Looked up u tube footage & some guy was getting ready complaine about something. More than likely some validity 2 it I'm sure . Thank goodness I saw u covered these guys 2 . Looks like all pay is getting reset for inflation ur surly feel & notice. Darn shamed the 1n over hear doesn't carry the 211 higher gravity beer I saw in those carts 😁 Dollar general looking up😄. It's a low bar 🍸, but there's 1n around every corner now. 🤪 Take a drive 🚗in a 10 min radius," chances r ones magically going 2 appear out of no wher"😳 the sneak up on u like that 🤪😆
