That's not a jam nut, it's a set screw. A jam nut is a thin nut that is commonly used as a lock nut and tightened into another nut, for example: the nut on tie rods.

Tidy and simple-- if i didnt know any better, id just think it looks factory. My headlights adjusters broke from the inside because the plastic that rolls the actual mirrors inside was already pretty brittle and just decided to break apart the last time i adjusted them... any ideas on how to force it to adjust? i thought about screwing a couple of bolts from the bottom and sides to lift it and rotate it but i read that its not a very good idea to expose the inside to moisture and whatnot.

Open the headlamp either using a heat gun or the oven method. I fixed mine using super strong glue as these parts are made of plastic. Vertical and horizontal adjusters were broken or popped out from position. This is the only way to tackle correctly those issues. And by opening the headlamp you can perform a thorough clean, just be careful when touching the chromed surfaces, do it gently.

I need horizon headlight adjusters for a 1998 Jeep cherokee Laredo limited. Part 55055122 they have discontinued this part. I’ve spent months searching and nothing. Have the broken adjusters still. Is there any kind of replacement that could be used instead or a way to fix the broken I have. This is my only car I need it working badly. Can anybody help?
