Recently, my doctor says I need to change my diet, even tho blood sugar is low, but I have high blood pressure and cholesterol. I check my bs before I have breakfast, if my bs is over 130, I eat oatmeal with cinnamon, no milk and fruit. If bs is under 120, have oats with little milk and bacon. If under 110, I eat grits with little butter, bacon and 2 eggs scrambled with broccoli or squash; if bs is under 100, I add cheddar cheese to my eggs.

Hi, Dr. Richardson. What foods would you recommend to help someone with gastroparesis avoid constipation while still limiting fiber and fat intake? I'm also on Tramadol for pain from severe peritoneal abdominal adhesions which slows my motility even more. I also take Movantik, Colace, Acai Berry Cleanse (just 1/day as a bulking agent since Miralax/Metamucel et. al. do nothing for me), and bouncing between Linzess and Amitiza and still having to take Senekot-S 1 - 2 times /week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@thecraftytraveler3 жыл бұрын
I was recently diagnosed with gastroparesis. I was told to up my fiber, take metamucil and take senikot 2x's a day. Is was this helpful to you? I have not seen much improvement since late November (when I was officially diagnosed)
@shaykayraycrochet3 жыл бұрын
@@thecraftytraveler My nutritionist has me on low fiber low fat intake, so upping the fiber isn't an option for me. Senekot works for me, but the bottle says it shouldn't be taken regularly since results will be diminished, so I only take it when I haven't gone in 3 days but more and more often, I'm needing it every 3 days. I just had a Sitz Marker study, so hopefully my doctor will see if something is blocking my transit. Thanks for sharing, though. The bulk laxatives like Metamucil and Miralax don't work for me, but I have found that Acai Berry Cleanse by Applied Nutrition works for me in the same way as the bulk fibers, so I take one of those in the evening with 8 oz water. You might want to keep that in mind if you ever need to travel. It's a lot easier to keep organized with your pills than the powdered cannisters. God bless you, and thanks again for sharing.

You can buy milk from local farms if you have them around. Here in Serbia its 50% cheaper than industrial milk. It tastes much better and has more fat %. 1L of raw milk has approximately 630 calories, 34 grams of fat, 49 grams of carbohydrates and 32 grams of protein for a 50cents. How cheap is that? You can gain fat from it but beside that its a miracle food.. :D

A little goes a long way for adding healthy fats and calories. If you eat a green salad with chicken breast, tomatoes, and or eggs, a half of an avocado can really bulk up the calories as well as satiety gained from it.
