Thank you so much Sherry. You're definitely an angel in disguise !! I'm so sorry I have to be negative when I tell you my story. I've had MS for more than 15 years, can't walk by myself anymore, in fact I can't walk more than 3 steps even when helped. Have never realised it's possible to do chair yoga as I've only seen your podcast this morning.. I'm feeling positive for a change. Thank you Thank you Thank you !!!

I very much enjoy your chair yoga lessons. I teach chair yoga to my church seniors (I am not an instructor), but was kinda picked to lead this. I do a lot of research to ensure I don't hurt anyone and I have found your videos are perfect for my group. They have especially enjoyed the chair yoga dances so much! They look forward to new dances and music. I would appreciate if you could choreograph more Christian music. I'm thinking about letting our seniors do these moves as a special time during church, like a recital. Anyway, thank you so much for the guidance and the videos.

Thanks for your kind words Jackie! I am so happy to hear that you are sharing Chair Yoga (and dances) with your church group. We have alot more dances on our streaming video library, YogaVista.TV. There is only a subset of them on KZbin. So, check them out! I wait for a song/dance to come to me so you got me inspired to consider some Christian songs. And I think a recital would be an AMAZING idea! They will draw a big crowd of proud family members... just like our Library Recital did! Have fun, enjoy each other! Please give my love and blessings to your group! Love, Sherry

Thank you for all the exercises you’re sharing f to all of us. Been doing them fully but stopped due to torn meniscus. I can’t do standing positions. Do you have chair yoga with precautions on the use of knee? It’s been months under PT. Some improvements on the use of left knee but lots of care. Worried to aggravate the meniscus. Thank you and more power to your program.
@SherryZakMorrisYoga2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tess! I am sorry to hear about your knee. Did you hurt it in a moment in time... or has it degraded to the point of being torn? Guidelines for a meniscus tear would be to avoid any movement that pivots the knee side to side, or weight bearing moves. The best thing you can do is to strengthen your quadriceps muscles which can help create a bit more space in your knee joint so that the meniscus tear does not get irritated so much. Sitting down and marching slowly lifting one leg and the other... and doing gentle seated leg extensions one leg and then the other would be good movements for you. When doing the seated part of the Chair Yoga videos, you are pretty safe from movements that would directly irritate your knee. So, be very careful when standing and weight bearing... if you are in pain doing the standing poses, skip them. A torn meniscus can heal over time, but sometimes it does require corrective surgery. These days that type of surgery is quite common and quite successful. There will come a time you will know what path is best for you to take. Sending you lots of love and healing energy! Love, Sherry
@tessroque19542 жыл бұрын
@@SherryZakMorrisYoga thank you so much for responding. It was just one day I felt pain on left knee, MRI done. Torn meniscus since February, seeing PT ever since. I also have OA, RA. 71 yo now. (Had pretty active life before, hiking , traveling, etc.) Noticed some improvements, now, walk a little without limping, using walker, cane , rollator. Yes, I do your chair yoga as tolerated and with modifications. Missed the way I did all your chair yogas with no restrictions. I still do chores and gardening as much. Am vacillating if I want surgery. Orthopedic surgeon did not recommend surgery the first time I saw him. Will do consult soon. Wishing you more success in your program.

Hi Sherry! I teach chair yoga at our local YMCA and I find your videos very helpful when designing my classes. I love the long leg movements front, back and side, but worry about my students who have had hip replacements. As an RN, I know that replacements can be done with either a anterior, posterior, or lateral approach and contraindications may vary. I do educate them about being aware of their own bodies, check with their doctors, etc. but I feel like I have a responsibility as well. What poses do you feel are best/worst when it comes to the hip replacement yogi? Thanks!
@YogaVistaTV2 жыл бұрын
Hi Cristina! I'm always happy to hear that my classes give other teachers new ideas. We all share the knowledge with each other.. and pass it on! Because I cannot address every contraindication in these type of videos, it's always important for ANYONE doing yoga with any physical limitations to check with their Healthcare provider on what movements to avoid. I believe in empowering the student to take charge of their health with knowledge and education, but their doctor is their number one resource for what they should be doing or not doing. Here is a video where I address hip replacements and movement guidelines. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4eVnmqBf5yNeqc. Thanks for taking the time to learn more and share more! Blessings to you and those you serve! Love, Sherry

I had the idea that in yoga the movements should be performed more at a slower pace and medium speed putting emphasis in breathing in and out in the correct position on each move. But Im noticing that your movements are faster and you dont indicate where we should breathe in and at what part we should be breathing out...seems like it wasnt that important. Just an observation. Thank you

Thanks for your input. My goal is to get people moving in this beginner series. If I cued every breath with every move, it would be too overwhelming. I know that you will find the kind of instruction that serves you best. That's what is great about KZbin. Many blessings to you! Sherry
