I was diagnosed with heart failure in November 2023. I had a triple heart bypass in 2013 and it is thought that damage to the heart back then has increased over the last 11 years. After my CABG in follow-up, my ejection fraction was 60%. In November 2023, when I was experiencing breathlessness on only slight exertion, the EF was measured at 25 - 35%. The hospital cardiologist put me on a daily regimen of medications, which have improved my condition considerably. These are: Dapagliflozin, Entresto, Furosemide, Eplerenone, and Bisoprolol. However, I had been taking Bisoprolol and before that Atenolol for many years. In addition to the meds listed, I also take Apixaban and Rosuvastatin. I'm 78, male, living in England, and I'm just about to mow the back lawn.

I’m on Entresto, cadivolol, Jardiance, and Rosuvastatin & also just got a pace maker implanted still not feeling too good. I’m always dizzy now and super tired, can’t sleep no desire to do anything anymore. I hope in due time I can bounce back to half way feeling good. Are these medications a good combo? Has anyone been on these meds? My heart is working at 25% unfortunately guess that’s why I’m so extra tired. Ugh this really does suck I’m only 45 yrs old 😔

Looks like you're on the right regimen. I'm also on spironolactone. I read something about arjuna bark powder which I received today. I also saw a KZbin video on Barostim therapy which I shall ask my doc about. Sounds promising. I was 50 when my EF was 23%. It went back up to 35% with the right pill regimen and then because they had to take out and replace my whole ICD I am now back to 25%. But I had a good run as I'm now 64.

You probably should be on a diuretic as well - spironolactone or torsemide Stick with it, diet, exercise and the right drugs will help get you back on your feet. Watch the sodium intake and walk, walk a lot - the more you exercise the less fatigue and the better you will feel oddly ❤

I take almost all of the medications mentioned. My ejection fraction fell from 60% in 2013 to between 25% and 35% in November 2023. I was admitted to hospital (UK) with increasing shortness of breath and put on this cocktail of drugs, also including Rosuvastatin. That was about six weeks ago. I was discharged after five days on the acute cardiac ward and since I started on the new medication regimen I feel considerably better. I used to get out of breath just climbing the short flight of stairs in my house. Now I can go for a one mile walk without problems. As far as I'm concerned, these meds are wonder drugs! It's a bit of a hassle every morning, and to some extent before bed, doling out each of ten* medications, but I'm a 77-year-old retired computer programmer, so I can approach the challenge in a consistent manner, with tracking charts, even little programs I've written for myself. It's the only way, otherwise it would be too easy to miss one or other medication. * Ten also includes non-heart-related medications such as Tamsulosin for enlarged prostate and Lansoprazole.

This is interesting, I'm on an ACE2 inhibitor and still have a bit of a coughing problem still, and it seems they reduce arterial inflammation as well as the other reported functions. My heart rate was in the range of 50-68 before I was on beta blockers, now it's 58-78 which is interesting given what's presented here. The beta blocker also (I believe) is responsible for relaxing my stomach's upper sphincter resulting in me needing to take an ion pump inhibitor due to continuous indigestion in the absence thereof. Another side effect I noticed was that I was given a corticosteroid while recovering from COVID and the combination gave me 24hr hiccups (every 5-10 seconds), I had to stop the steroid because I couldn't sleep and it was really painful after a while. I also take a diuretic called Moduretic that works so well that I take 1/4 tablet of the smallest available lest my BP gets so low that I'm dizzy sitting down. I've tried various others and they do not agree with me (rapid heart rate between 90-130).

Those medicines have side effects!! I used to take them prescribed by my cardiologist and have stopped taking after I switched my diet from low fat high carb diet to high fat low carb diet such as keto. I have been staying away from sugar and reduced carbo intake as much as possible. I am doing just fine by only taking supplements namely D3, K2, Zinc, vit C and Magnesium daily👍👍👍.

Ashwaganda has several positive benefits, particularly in conrolling how the body releases stress hormones like cortisol. You raise an important topic, there are so many products sold that report to have benefits, many do not have any definite evidence. Heart failure is NOT A DEATH SENTENCE. people can live till there 70s 80s with it. I have it. I take metoprolol half in morning and half at night. I take Olmestatin for blood pressure at night, AND I've had 2 Aortic Valve Replacements. One in 2000 when I was 34yrs and a redo in 2016. Don't panic. Get your doctor to give tou a diuretic for when you get fluid build up, (if you do). Enjoy your life. You have a full life ahead. Just don't SMOKE CIGARETTES NOW.😊

Amiodorone??? Losartan? Eliquis?
@HeartMatters
@HeartMatters Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Losartan is an angiotensin 2 receptor blocker drug that is included in the top 7. Amiodarone is a drug to help control the rate and rhythm of the heart but no prognostic benefit in improving outcomes directly from heart failure. Eliquis is a blood thinner that may be often needed but again, does not improve the strength of the heart.
