Today we are making some of our favorite apple recipes like homemade apple butter, super cheap homemade apple cider vinegar, and for dinner our signature apple crepe cake recipe! Peeled, Sliced Apples: 6 1/2 lb
Sugar: 1 cup
Brown Sugar: 1 cup
Cinnamon: 1 Tbsp
Nutmeg: 1/2 tsp
Ground Cloves: 1/4 tsp
Salt: 1/4 tsp

My sister always makes apple chutney around the holidays, she puts cranberries, walnuts, cinnamon, pumpkin spice, anise seeds and all spice. The house smells amazing when she's cooking it and it's delicious. Thanks for all your videos 🍎

I take the apple peels and cores and will throw them into a bag in the freezer. During the winter I will throw a couple of cinnamon sticks and a couple of handfuls of peels and water into the crock pot and make a "smelly". It makes the house smell wonderful for a couple of days.

Over the years we have made apple jelly, apple sauce, apple pies, apple juice, apple cider (non alcoholic), dehydrated apple slices and of course apple desserts. We also store whole apples in a wooden barrel in our root cellar. Most times it’s a family event, even now with my adult children. Lots of family memories being made. I want to try making apple vinegar. Thank you for sharing all you videos.

Apple Peel jelly is great stuff. It is perfect on a peanut butter sandwich. I often use 1/3 of a cup of applesauce as an egg replacement in baking.

I’ve never wanted to be anywhere as much as I wanted to be at your house during this video! 😂😂 I can imagine the smell and I want some of that soap! Heading to your store next, Julianne! My parents had a farm and I always loved the days spent preserving delicious food for the winter. We had 80 acres and grew veggies for our family and extended family, as well as raised beef, pork and chicken! I come to Champagne, IL occasionally and next time I would love to visit you guys!

Looking good! With the number of apples you have, I would think your dehydrator would be going over time...lol. I wasn't going to look for apples this year (mine did not produce) but after watching this, thinking I may. I don't peel or core for sauce though - I run through my mill. For apple butter, I just core. I like that Jesse and the other kids are helping in the kitchen - too many kids now just don't know how to cook. Great Job! Oh and Annie, you know that if you grunt it helps push things into the jar! LOL.

Why would loading up or using a crock pot be a no no in canning? BTW I'm not a novice canner so I'm really perplexed

We made that statement because in a previous video we had a person tell us not to load and lock the Crock-Pot because of pressure issues. We understand that people have different opinions and observations regarding this and just wanted to point out that we have never had an issue when you utilizing a Crock-Pot in this manner.
