In training group session found the heated tube triggered reactive air way. Same chemical used as in some perfumes is used in rubber/plastics to make more plyable. Phthalates are a group of chemicals that are used to make plastics more flexible and durable. Recommend try it before you keep the heated tube triggered. Make some parts (temperature control) of CPAP settings useless.

Thank you for this video. I recently started using a Resmed 11 with heated tube. More often than not, I’m getting a message that says, “Attention. Heating system error. Therapy may run without heating.” I wake up with the water in the tank still full and my sinuses feel dried out. Other than having a bad machine, can you think of a reason why I’m having this issue? It seems to be a common problem with Resmed 11. My provider hasn’t been much help, so far. Thanks for your help.

Considering that the equipment is okay, I would check the humidity of the room. The machine adds water vapor to the air it is pulling from the room. If the air is too humid, the water in the reservoir will not decrease. If it is too low, not all the water in the reservoir will compensate for the lack of humidity in the room. Depending on the situation, you may want to consider using a humidifier overnight, keeping the relative humidity in the bedroom at 60% or above.

@@universal3025because if you need moderate or more humidity you will get condensation in your tubing or “rainout.” Waking up unable to breathe because your air tube is full of water is a nightmare. @@CPAPmyway Good question.. I have a Resmed Airsense 11 and considering the heated tube due to the dry throat cough during this time of year (Winter) as our room is kept cool to sleep. Adjusting the humidity didn't do very much other than cause rainout into my nose (nose pillow type of mask) and a dry throat. :-)
@CPAPmyway Жыл бұрын
You can wash it the same as the regular tubing. So the sleep coach is incorrect. Here is the snip direct from ResMed. ClimateLineAir™ heated tube, SlimLine™ and standard tubing Weekly cleaning tips: 1 Unplug your CPAP machine from the power source. 2 Disconnect the air tubing/hose from your mask and CPAP machine. 3 In a sink or tub, rinse the inside and outside of the air tubing with mild dishwashing liquid and warm, drinking-quality water. Avoid using stronger cleaning products, including dish detergents, as they may damage the air tubing or leave harmful residue. 4 Rinse again thoroughly with warm, drinking-quality water. 5 Place the air tubing on a flat surface, on top of a towel, to dry. Avoid placing in direct sunlight.@@blueflicker

Hi. I'm Dan from the UK. I have just watched your video titled "Heated Tubing for CPAP - Do you need it?". I have removed my heated tubing and replaced it with the standard hose. My problem with the heated tubing is that the warm air from the humidifier and tube made my head get hot. By breathing in heated air, my face and neck became uncomfortably sweaty. It was unpleasant waking in the night to find soaked nightwear and pillows. Sometimes, it was so unpleasant I had to change bedding etc. in the middle of the night! I have now set the humidifier to zero, and have swapped the tube for a standard unheated one. Since swapping, the heated tube for a standard tube, I'm glad to say that my head no longer gets hot, and, dry mouth problems have been miraculously eliminated. I'm delighted to recommend ditching the water heating and heated tube arrangement. 🎉 I was hoping to hear your thoughts and opinions regarding my problem. But as this issue was not mentioned in your video, I wonder if I'm the only guy who has had this horrible problem. Thanks for reading this.

I actually like all the moisture. Can it be bad for you? I've been trying to find the answer. I have to change my p10 mask in the middle of the night since it gets too wet, but I like it. Also, (I just asked this on your other video) when you turn up the humidifier setting, how does it make more humidity? Does it increase the temp of the heating element under the reservoir? Like when you turn up the heat on your stove?
@CPAPmyway Жыл бұрын
I do not think that it can cause too big of an issue as long as you are comfortable and the equipment is being cleaned very regularly. Moisture can lead to bacteria, mold and mildew if not maintained. The moisture is added by heating the water more causing more to evaporate.

I done this for 7 years, I replace my standard tube every 6 to 12 months, I can detect orders well and it clean, If I needed to clean the tube, I would use H2O2 (Hydrogen Peroxide) about a cup and move it back and forth, run bottled water through the tube and the rinse the tube with a cup of distilled water.

I don't understand the rationale of this video. A heated tube used to increase humidity? Since when does heat increase humidity? Heat is temperature. Not water vapor in the hair. Temperature and air humidity are two different Physics variables. So this video didn't mention the main reason why a heated tube is used. To warm up the air. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
@CPAPmyway11 ай бұрын
The warmer the air, the more humidity it will hold. Without a heated tube the air will cool rapidly as it passes through the tubing and the humidity in the air condenses into water. This causes literal rain in the tubing which is very irritating to CPAP users. Cold air does not hold much humidity.
