just got my first clubs sent from the USA to South Africa. They are kicking butt at only 15lbs (all I could get online). These videos are extremely helpful and have revolutionized the way I work at in my aging years.

I’ll keep saying it - Mark, you are so clinical, so practical, so knowledgeable. People - pay attention to what Mark is saying about hips, core, stability, connectivity. It’s the essence of biomechanics that so many instructors don’t understand, can’t communicate. Great job

So I had a chance to try this now with an 8kg club and a 12kg club, and it seems clear from my experience that this isolates some weak core muscles that likely contribute to, or are the source of, my problems with the lunge. I also tried a halo in the lunge position, and lateral core muscles were struggling in the same way that they do when I try the lunge. So I now have a better starting point. Thanks! I also fully relate to the "everybody has structural problems" statement, and it was an eye opener to hear you describe how your focus is to ameliorate them with kbs and clubs. My structural problems are slowly becoming more evident to me as i try each exercise you present, so I'd describe the whole series of videos you've posted in the past months as Fix Problems You Didn't Know You Had. :-)

This is another one!! The algorithm is working great for me, 😂. So good. It's really important to tilt and lock. This rocks! I hit a certain age last fall, so had to start with the 5lb/10lb clubs (I have no shame because I really don't want to hurt more than I already do), but whew! Good move for any cross body imbalance/weakness (hip/shoulder/core).

This also known as gama cast made famous by Indian wrestler known the great gama. Great variation of this movement is doing it on the knees. Thanks Mark!

Sounds like a character name from Dragonball.
@etilrets4 жыл бұрын
I guess Gamma cast goes in both directions alternatively. In shield cast its one direction only. MW can confirm
@MarkWildman4 жыл бұрын
we call the gama cast the alternating version of this. so it would be opposite ear, same side ear, opposite ear etc. that is slightly more advanced as the same side circle can be much harder on the shoulder girdle. but good eye. you could call this a single direction gama

Another great video from Mark. If only there were clubs available anywhere, I'd get on this routine asap. Also, PSA. Don't whack your knee with a KB when you do outside swings, it f***ing hurts.

Vladimir, you able to find a club bell yet? If not, I made my own out of scrap metal from work and wrapped it with foam and duct tape for some protection; you could probably make your own out of better materials than what I have.

Hey Mark, what are some of your favorite club exercises that include a squat or lunge (i.e. a new squat/lunge with each rep rather than remaining in the lunge position as in this vid)? Thanks!
@TheDawch4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark. Does the dominant hand always go the opposite shoulder or are there variants where you go both ways?
@MarkWildman4 жыл бұрын
it can go both ways, but the opposite way is really hard on the shoulder so its done as an alternating movement. a gama cast.

Hi Mark, a quick question: should the both knees be facing forward, or the top on slightly out, or both slightly outwards? Many thanks!
@MarkWildman3 жыл бұрын
It depends on your sport. I like hips pointed forward, think the bottom of a lunge
@LatimusChadimus Жыл бұрын
I'm in a few think back even just five centuries with men fighting with swords and shields, when they were doing things in all different directions it was definitely possible that their knees would touch the ground yet they were still ready and able which is why you should train anything and everything that would apply to real life. I don't know why anybody would question why your knee was such in the ground unless it's the only way you display a lunch which I know isn't because I've been watching a lot of your videos lately. People are so childish I swear haha

I didn't get my first club until the pandemic had struck - and the only club I was able to get my hands on is too light for me to get benefit from with 2 handed movements. Would adapting this to a one hand movement with a switch to the other hand where you switch your top hand give similar benefit?
