Helium Woes Getting Mobile Hotspots Up and Running

The weekend has been a total pain as I struggled to fix all the issues with my Outdoor Helium Hotspot. And this is compounded by my decision to order a 436H CBRS. Don't let these problems happen to you!

Glad to see your wifi is doing good now. I’ve never had any luck with those strips thru the window.you will not regret buying the 436. I have 20 indoor and outdoor wifi going now in malls etc. I still have 436 radios up along with 430s I still believe cbrs will work. The thing is my radios were moving data for people with iPhones. Or they were till they shut them off

@@DoItJustinKaceI went and talk to the maintenance guys first and then most of the time they put me in touch with the manager of the mall. I pay rent for that spot on the roof but they also give me internnet access . I pay a set monthly fee for the spot on the roof and the Coffee shops I just hit the small independent ones and talk to the owners personally. A few of them I also gave them a phone with the SIM card to be able to use the phone for free .thats what I was saying about the iPhones were passing data thru the cbrs till they turned them off

It's good to do a speedtest at the end of the other side of the cat6 cable. I use an ipad with an ethernet adapter to confirm internet works. A cable tester is always a must!

Awesome content! Btw, what transpired on the sour purple mouse miner, the one with 88mbps? I’m having the same issue with mine. I followed what you did regarding the ribbon, couplers as well as the POE plug and unplug. And my stats are low similar to yours. Any tips?

It was my cables. Keeping them to standard cat-6 with no ribbons and keeping the length short made a difference.

Hi thanks for the years of great videos. So I live in a pretty small town. I don’t see any mobile hotspots near me to compare how much I might make running outdoor mobile. Been running the old style “miner” for a few years now. Any suggestions on how to determine if I have a good house for outdoor mobile.

You need to go to the planner on HeliumMobile and input your information. It will tell you then. However, things are changing every time they release a new HIP. So who knows what you put in today will be correct in two weeks.

I have been following along and want to put up the same antennas as you. I am curious, can you separate out your profits from the CBRS and the helium outdoor mobile hotspot? Is he helium outdoor hotspot 5G or just data? What is the range on the mobile outdoor hotspot?

Yeah and if you read the 436h installation manual it clearly says it will “only support a single 4-port CBRS antenna (carrier aggregation mode)”. This is not confusing at all lol

Yep. And changed the link in the prior video after doing more research. Thanks. I don't get the whole 2-port thing. It's confusing as hell and only admins on discord seem to know about it. They says they are going to "enable" then in the future. But when?

Was just reading discord history and saw more than once where the admins were saying yes only 2 ports are currently configured for helium and confirmed to purchase the 2-port Justin showed us. They also said it’s recommended to get the 4-port as it will still work and you will be future proofed in the event Helium enables all 4 ports. Either one will work though. Guess it’s up to you how much money you want to spend since the 4 port is a couple hundred dollars more.

Great info my outdoor unit is also at .50 scale showing low upload speeds . I checked my upload speed which is more than fast & good. Any fix on this issue?

It was my cable. Needed less cable length and needs to be cat6.

Hey Justin, on the outdoor wifi, those rewards you got are more because of the placement and the hexes ur covering correct? Or are u actually getting data thru there?

But the limits on rewards are per hex covered. So if you have two CBRS. One Pointing north and the pointing south and they don’t overlap rewards then all the hex’s for the each antenna will be the 1x. I think it’s only the hex’s that overlap which are affected.

Yes, only overlapping is affected. However, if you have one pointing north, and one pointing south, the area around the CBRSs still has a signal and is still affected so you will have overlapping signals.

Oh yea. Not good. Mine said both mine said gigabit, but I did a switch out to test, and they were. The POE+ is usually gigibit.

If you have a helium mobile plan, you are supposed to be able to connect to your hotspot with that login info. You can check on the helium builder and it will tell you data usage. @@DoItJustinKace

We need to skate to where the puck is. The puck is clearly moving towards WiFi hotspots. I'm extremely disappointed HIP-101 didn't pass, and this is coming from someone who's been mining (and still is) MOBILE since genesis with quite a few 430s and 436s. Voting no for HIP-101 is short-sighted in my opinion if you're here for the long game

Hip means a few people are upset that someone has a great setup and making lots of iot mobile etc and they do t like it so they bring in hips to try and take away from the person that worked hard for there setup and they are mad and want to try and change it to fit there wants. Also 90 percent of those WiFi’s indoor are being put at people house that has little value to the network….

You guys aren't getting it. CBRS is unusable. They tried to make it work, but it'll probably take another 2 - 3 years before it'll happen. Me voting for this HIP-101 actually hurts me. But I believe in Helium long term. And yes @DoItJustinKase, you're exactly right, companies pivot all the time, hence why I voted to give more rewards to WiFi hotspots even though it hurts me in the short-term

Planner shows 4500 in estimated rewards. My actual rewards are 660/day for the last 3 days. My internet connection is only a 20Mbps plan. Geek shows multiplier .25 / 41Mbps / 6Mbps / 22ms / Cat5e (20ft). Is my internet plan affecting my multiplier ? I'll change out cat5e to cat6

Well I'd move from CAT5 to CAT6, but yeah, your internet plan could be the issue. You want to be above 100 mbps.

The speedtest trends shown are the average. In helium geek Click into speedtest trends and scroll down and look at the actual speeds. One will be actual and one will be average.
