Just a heads-up for those of you who doubt that this car can handle. It posted the exact same time as the Alfa Romeo 4C on Motor Trend's figure eight course-24.7 seconds. I think that's quite impressive. For me, the Hellcat is just about the perfect true GT-very comfortable in normal driving, real back seats, a very large trunk, good gas mileage for a performance car, tremendous acceleration, and very good handling. Add-in great looks and the $60,000 price, and it's very hard to beat. It's the complete package. I'll take mine in black, please.

My first car was a 1965 4-door Dodge Coronet with a 225 slant six. I became a loyal Chrysler fan and owned or driven many of their products, muscle cars included. It's great to see the heritage of the muscle car revived. Enjoyed the video. Thanks and God bless all.

For almost a decade i loved the 1970 Challenger, it's just the perfect car in my eyes. V8, all about the engine - and the gorgeous shape. I really love it. But when they revealed the Hellcat, i think i love it just as much. It's not about the power. I wouldn't care if it had 600, 500 or just 350hp. As long as it still has this perfect shape. The new car looks better than the older models that i always thought looked a bit plump. It's perfect now. And the 707hp engine is one fine thing, especially as i love superchargers. I was basically addicted to the supersnake compressor sound. Now it's the same, but with the Challenger. I hope i can buy one in the next 5-6 years. Should be possible, saving on other stuff. I just love this car.

I will take a Ford Mustang GT over this car any day. Sure, if both cars are stock then Hellcat will be much faster than the Mustang but it's also twice as expensive. Throw in 10k for a nice twin turbo from Hellion and the Mustang will be running 11.2 1/4 mile on a bad day with stock everything else. Even with the Twin Turbo, you still have around 20k that you can spend on this car or elsewhere. Unless you really like the look of this car and money is not an issue, then I don't see why you wouldn't just get the 5.0 and tune it to your liking. Like if you agree :)

Everybody says the Hellcat can run 10.8 drag radials, when a 2013 GT500 with drag radials is also capable of running 10.7-10.8. That Challenger is awesome but overhyped. EDIT: LOL IT DOESN'T TOP 200 mph!!! 199 mph, GT500 does 202 mph, and it's been proven to. Most likely the weight factors in with the top speed.
@robertbrody403210 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you need to actually drive some cars. I've driven the GT500. Great car, but cramped and harsh ride with no back seats for adults. Meanwhile the Hellcat has room for 4 or 5 and tons of room without the harshness. And it is LIMITED to 199. It can go faster. These cars are about having choices. I have a family and the Hellcat is the 1st muscle-car that makes sense.

sik59rt There is no way I would want a valet to have access to the black key's 500 hp...or my wife for that matter. if there is a valet mode, it should be limited to 30mph and 2500rpm.
@WilliamCWayne10 жыл бұрын
sik59rt No, the black key is not a valet key. I've seen that written in a few articles, but it's flat out wrong. The valet mode is engaged with the touchscreen after creating a 4-digit PIN, forces 2nd gear starts, rev limits to 4000 and prevents disabling of the traction control. It's also supposed to limit engine output further, but I haven't seen if it's 'just' to 500hp like the black key, or if it's much more than that. This mode can be enabled regardless of which key is in use.

Sliding is not handling corners well.

Tesla Haxz Tesla your a moron with this sliding crap your making up. First of all its one of the biggest and heaviest of all muscle cars, and 2nd, hes probably doing 60-80-mph around those corners. Thats pretty awesome corner cutting to me buddy. Do us a favor and get off this page with that negativity. You must hate yourself looking in mirror!

Lol, someone woke up on the wrong side of their mother this morning. Listen kid, that is the point, it is a MUSCLE CAR. It SUCKS at handling. It doesn't matter how heavy it is, it's a rwd car that is shaped like a brick and is therefore as aerodynamic as a brick. It might be fast, but it should stay off the track. Go cry to someone else with YOUR negativity, k?

I believe that this is one of the greatest SRT made. I have the 08 one and I love it. I didn't bought the car for HP or 0-60 f***. I bought it because this car is badass character. And that's the way it should be. That's how you fell when you drive the car.

The front of the hellcat looks nothing like the 71' like they said, it looks like a roadrunner.

You really think a car would look like its 45 year old grandfather?
@tonyvaccaro9810 жыл бұрын
No i meant the regular 2015 looks like the 71, but the hellcat looks like a roadrunner.

Justin Bell is an AMAZINGLY talented driver - the first reviewer I've seen who can actually drive the Hellcat at its limit. Second, he comes across as a proper presenter: He's not stilted or scripted, but neither is he disorganized or lacking in commentary. And animated enough to be interesting, but not so exuberant as to be annoying. As a voice over guy, I can attest to the fact that it's a extremely difficult balance to achieve. I'm quite critical of many of these auto video journals, but this was an excellent review, Justin.

The GT500 had a faster 1/4mile time. I'm not sure about the track, but most likely the Challenger will not be faster since it's a lot heavier.

Ryan Mc Funny, I distinctly heard that NHRA certified the Hellcat as being faster than the POS Ford.....maybe you better watch the video again....
@Josh-bs2zt10 жыл бұрын
Ryan Mc With NHRA certified street legal drag slicks, the Challenger ran a 10.2 second 1/4 mile. I'm glad more people than me think in 1/4 mile times....i'm sick of hearing about all this 0-60 bullshit.

***** whats cool bout this car, is you get to have all that kick ass performance, and you got all that room, and when u get where your going, you don't feel like you have had the shit kicked out of you. ive owned gt mustangs, and they are just too damn small. this is really a cool compromise in a complete package. the new Pitch color would be much better though.lol

707hp and can't go 200mph not to mention the gt500 goes 200mph with 662hp and zr1 with 638hp and from a 40 roll they both destroy this kitty cat. Also this car does 10.8s on DRs in a automatic while the zr1 does that a slower shifting 6 spd. Lol less weight please.

Correction!!! It has a manual flappy paddle. But no 6, 7, or 8 speed manual stick shifter. Disappointing SRT

Because it's faster with the 8 speed more convenient and u can use paddle shifters

I love the look of the Challenger, I loved the 392, but at 470hp it couldn't put it to the pavement. It ran the same times as the Camaro SS(4.7 0-60, 13.0 1/4), and the Mustang 5.0 beat both(4.3 0-60, 12.7 1/4) and it cost a LOT more. Now it's taken them years to catch up, they literally said we need to dethrone the GT500 because fuck Carrol Shelby's legacy, and they copied the Mustang Boss track key. They're so far behind it's pathetic, look at Mustang and Camaro they're both focusing on NA track versions with around 500hp because that's the sweet spot and the future of American Muscle. Dodge only did this because they wanted the title "Most powerful production V8 in the world" the new Viper was a disgrace that got beat by the out going ZR1, SRT publicly cried and screamed and had to come out with the TA. The C7 smokes the Viper all day, and watch the C7 Z06 Set such a platform SRT can never catch up. We may see the death of SRT....

Thats fine, I'm not trying to impress anybody. I'm happy with my dual clutch automatic GTI
@ruskeee10 жыл бұрын
I'd have to agree. The challenger is all about retro style and having that badass muscle car vibe, and you need a stick shift to get that full experience. I'd sooner take a GTI with the DSG than a Challenger with an automatic.
@JerseyMikeP8 жыл бұрын
He messed up @ 3:49...the Challenger Hellcat is NHRA certified at 10.8, the Charger is the one with the 11.0 time. Hellcat charger does 204.55mph vs. the Challenger 199mph.
