8:40 : There's nothing wrong with the gauges, Doug, they're in 2 different units. Screen is reading 1.8 kPa (kilopascals), but if you notice the (x100), it's times 100, so it's actually 180kPa. The gauge on the cluster is kg/cm2 (kilograms per squared centimeter). So if you go to Google and type in: "180kPa to kg/cm2" you get *1.83*, which matches the screen pretty perfectly. So nope, everything appears fine, just a small detail you missed there. EDIT: Some people pointed out that the gauge shows 2.8kg/cm2 opposed to 1.8kg/cm2 as I said - you're right, not quite sure how I missed that. I imagine this is because one of them is or isn't taking into account STP, as there's a 1.03kg/cm2 difference between the two values. So def. looks like they screwed up.

Oil pressure in the center screen is reading in kPa while the oil pressure in the gauge cluster is reading kg/cm^2. Their reading will always be slightly different from each other due to the fact that they are measuring pressure in different units but they shouldn't be that far off since 1 kPa is about 0.0102 kg/cm^2 resulting in something that should look similar and not off by a couple of intergers as seen in the video.

I think Doug took the readout from two separete moments, as on 10:07 you can see on display bar it says 2.7 kPa and on analog gage, needle stays at 3 kg/cm2, so it makes about correct. Still quite impressive tech from a 99' car.

GarciaCompany I noticed that as well but already posted my comment. Another possibility is that there could be multiple sensors at different points where its pulling the information from causing the difference at first start up. A Dodge demon is street legal but a R34 isn't? Haters
@Dacommenta5 жыл бұрын
unbelievable hey! It was likely due to motorsport concerns. The R32 actually got banned from australian motorsport in 1991 and along with it fell every other JDM from our motorsport to local cars only. I imagine that America saw the impact it had on Australian cars and economy and didnt want a repeat. Interestingly the Mitsubishi GTO or as US calls it the Dodge Stealth was meant to take the place of the Dodge Viper but concerns for the local business led to the racing of the Dodge Viper instead back in 89 I think I recall!

Because of all the non GTR variants that use the same body shell, and they imported them by the bucketload here for years, they are common as fuck around here - literally see one every time I leave the house - most of them are the 1.8 litre and 2 litre 4 door variants but the basic styling is still the same. @ruthlessyoungman65627 жыл бұрын
The readings are still different though. 190 kPa is 1.937 kgf/cm^2.
@javaking10007 жыл бұрын
That's why Nissan displays the electronic gauge as X.X x100 kPa. The "X.X" part of the value is essentially the same as the reading in kg/cm^2. For example, 1.9 (x100) kPa = 1.9 kg/cm^2. I don't know why the gauges are reading so differently, though. Perhaps the analog gauge is slower to react to changes in pressure?

Hahaha. I just got back from delivering mail. In a 1991 Firebird. In England, where it's about as rare as this is. It was... uneconomic :)

No one would dare steal it for one reason... how many R34's do you see around, Cops would be all over this within seconds of getting a "My car's gone" from the owners lmao.

I saw an R34 Skyline a month or two ago in Brainerd, MN, of all places. It was red with a black rear wing. It wasn't a GT-R, but I was still excited to see it as it was driving down the road. My wife laughed at how much I was fan boying over it.
