People need to keep in mind that when you start a skin routine, you need to give it 6 weeks. Your skin will look worse(purge) before it looks better. It's not a fast process but you gotta stick with it and be patient. Alot of people give up after 2 weeks because their skin breaks out but you gotta push past it.

It depends, I don't believe in skin purging unless it is a skin care given as a prescription by a dermatologist and they already mention purging as a side effect. Especially if the purging is not in a form of acne or white/blackheads. I would prefer to stop using the product.

@@AnnaBrown99this was my experience with Tretinoin when prescribed it and started using it. I was warned it would cause acne under the skin to surface, but that after 4 weeks the acne would start to calm down which it did. But I agree if it red and irritated and lots of peeling you don’t push thru that.

I have experienced pimples for a year. I began getting better by doing little things like using a clean towel and changing my pillowcase often. I use a mild face wash from litttlextrra riiceberry which is pH balanced. Consistency has worked the most. Now, I have an easy 3-step regimen that I use every day, and I'm slowly recovering. It has improved my confidence. Let's stay positive together!

Benzoyl peroxide has actually cleared my cystic acne and prevents bacteria from forming. Salicylic acid isn’t as effective but it works best for me in toners or chemical treatments. I would suggest incorporating both if you have acne but you will also need a good moisturizer and hydrating serum 😊

Couple Salicylic Acid with Benzoyl Peroxide, and you have a winner!! Combining these together has cleared my acne completely. I use Salicylic Acid soap in the morning, and Benzoyl Peroxide paste at night. Now I only get ONE pimple every once in awhile, and it goes away far more quickly. This combo has kept new acne from coming in. I also use Frankincense and myrrh soap (at night with the benzoyl peroxide), and aloe vera moisturizer twice a day, and it's been a game changer. After my acne cleared, I was left with very noticeable acne scarring, but the frankincense/myrrh soap and aloe vera moisturizer are slowly but surely fading away the scars! Using cold water only has made it even better in reducing the inflammation and redness in my face. It's all a slow process, but it's well worth it!

Salicylic acid is good but it doesn’t prevent new acne from forming. For oily skin, keep your routine simple, respect your skin and don’t be over aggressive with it. If you can handle the side effects, use Tretinoin and a moisturiser as a buffer like Cerave. And that’s it. Personally, I couldn’t handle the tension headaches from tret, so I’m now using Azelaic acid, which is doing okay. I believe eating lots of fruit and veg and keeping hydrated helps your skin from within. Don’t just rely on products, they’re just part of a bigger picture.

My advice is to not switch to other products quickly, start off slow introducing new products, otherwise you're going to interrupt your skins process into getting used to the product. Avoid tretinoin unless advised by a dermatologist. Try and use salicylic acid as it is best for acne prone skin, but only use a light layer, if it does irritate you can switch to lactic acid, but that does not penetrate deep into the skin as much as salicylic acid.

@SkinZoneTV
@SkinZoneTV Жыл бұрын
Hey Maxine, yes either salicylic acid product will be fine. You will get a better result from a mask or serum as it is left on the skin longer and able to penetrate deeper. So you could purchase both the salicylic acid cleanser and the masque if you wish - just don’t use at the same time. I would suggest using the benzoyl peroxide cleanser and retinoid separately though as it can be irritating to your skin barrier. If you can let me know your skincare routine currently and I can gain some insight into how your skin is reacting to your routine

I feel like Salicylic Acid is too weak for my skin. I did see some improvements when I first used Salicylic Acid the problem is that it eventually became less effective and didn't help prevent acne anymore. Also, almost all Salicylic Acid treatments only contain it in 2% concentration, and we need more products with higher concentration of it.

It depends on your skin type and concerns as well as the product and what else you are using in your routine.Those who are experiencing acne can use it more often, if you just experiencing mild blackheads etc you can use it 2-3 x weekly. Start off 2-3 x weekly, and see how your skin is.

Hi! I’ve been struggling with acne for a while now and have pretty oily skin! but I’ve finally added salicylic acid into my routine. here’s what I have and have even using for the past 2-3 weeks: morning: CeraVe SA cleanser and the CeraVe moisturizing cream night: CeraVe SA cleanser, The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution and the CeraVe moisturizing cream I use the ordinary’s salicylic acid every night. On the package it says to use twice a day but I thought it would be too rough for my skin. is this okay? should i use it more or less?

Great question! After treating hundreds of clients with their skin concerns we find exfoliating that often is way too much and strips your skin’s barrier (the acid mantle) Unfortunately some brands still list you can use it daily when it should be personalised for each person but No more than 3 x per week. Because you have been struggling with acne you could also add a retinoid to your routine. I would cut it back to using your salicylic acid 2 x per week but also incorporate a retinoid which you could include on the alternative nights with 1 or 2 recovery night. It could look like this Morning - cleanse, moisturise Night 1 - cleanse x 2, salicylic acid solution, moisturise Night 2 - cleanse x2, retinoid, moisturise Night 3 - cleanse x 2, moisturise (recovery night) Night 4 - cleanse x 2, moisturise (recovery night) REPEAT

@SkinZoneTV
@SkinZoneTV Жыл бұрын
Hey there, that is because retinol is also exfoliating. You don’t use both together or on the same day :) Over exfoliating will cause an impaired skin barrier and can either lead to excessive oil flow with breakouts or dry sensitive skin. Retinol is excellent, but you need to be mindful how often you use that and salicylic acid. I would have a break from actives until your skin clears up and then slowly reintroduce xx

Start with niacinamide + retinoid in the evening but - introduce retinoid slowly 2-3 x per week, so just alternate evenings. Use salicylic acid once per week, again to allow your skin to adjust. Then you can increase frequency. e.g. Night 1 Cleanse x 2 Niacinamide retinoid Moisturiser Night 2 Cleanse x 2 Niacinamide Moisturiser Night 3 Cleanse Salicylic Acid Moisturiser Night 4 Cleanse x 2 Niacinamide Retinoid Moisturiser repeat Less is more, don't over do it
